I have a handful of .wav files I want to string together and layer on eachother but I don't want to use FL to sequence them (that pattern sequencer is garbage) -- any super simple win98-ish apps just to load up a few wavs and smash em together...? Thanks.

It totalled into near 3500 usd. Whew! I've got everything but the mixer, i'm supposed to get it at thursday. Here is the purchase list. 2x Tannoy Reveal 8D studio monitors Mackie 1402VLZ PRO mixer Alesis ADAT AI3 analog/optical interface RME Hammerfall Sontronics STC 2 microphone with stand and shit got cables and shit for free The guys at the store were professionals, talked looong about how this stuff works, the best equipment etc. I got a really fucking good impression of the Tannoy Reveal's. Compared to different monitors and they stood far out from the crowd. Huge as hell but i guess i'll have to reorganise my room eventually. The suggested i …

KORE?
by Guest maus- 0 replies

hey kids. lots of people are still asking about KORE, what it is, what it does etc. i just wanted to drop in and let those of you who are interested know that NI is doing a bunch of workshops around the US and the world to explain KORE. you can go here: http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?id=koredays_us for the schedule. it's worth mentioning that NI is giving away a copy of Komplete 3 at every workshop (at least in the US). i'll be at the sherman oaks workshop here in LA on 5/17, and i'll actually be doing the San Antonio workshop at Hermes Music on June 8th, so come out and convince me to fix the drawing for you. cheers, c

I know very little about anything other than Audiomulch/FL, but what I do know is that I can't for the life of me make something that doesn't sound like Smojphace. I can lay down some nice acid-y basslines and shit but nothing that isn't abrasive. Is there something renowned for making nice pad loops or tricks I should use in AM/FL? Should I invest in hardware (cheap!)?

this beast is now taking up space in my room. The sound is FAT as hell. when i first turned it on i almost turned deaf.. the volume has to be kept really damn low. What i like about it is that it's supposed to emulate all kinds of classical instruments but it's all basically just sawtooth waves with different characteristics. I managed to get an arp(!) thing out of it with the drum machine, you can get the lower keyboard to play in an arp pattern, supposed to b e together with the drum and automatic major chord bass, but you can turn those off. The bass you play with the pedals is a pulse bass that sounds great. Here's an audio clip of me ja…

american+worldwide copyright representation...
by Guest arbee- 3 replies

hello peeps at ekt, my band and i are making music for a while now (more than 5 years) but since the last year or so, we've started having some kind of attention by the medias here, in québec. we get to do shows every now and then (about 1 or 2 every month) and we are getting airplay on the national radio, etc. so with all that stuff happening to us, we decided to suscribe to the SOCAN which is a kind of copyright canadian organisation that pretty much check the stuff for you and they give back the money to you when you get played. well I'm not here to explain all that stuff... with the contracts we recieved, there is an extra thing that is about american (and …

Can anyone please help me find a tracker and/or music comp. software that will run on a Power Macinstosh 5500/225 operating with OS 8.6? I've sold my previous music amking machine to pay for college courses and now all I have is this old mac from the 90's that I'd like to experiment within it limitations. Any help is greatly appreciated :) thank You

I was suggested Hoovermaker 1.1 but it just doesn't work on Cubase SX2 for me (just flicks splash screen and doesn't open). I tried tweaking some stuff up with my Microkorg but it's not the same. Ideally I would use Hoovermaker 1.0 but I can't find it anywhere... it's like a dead link spree. I wanted to try some actual Juno emulators but I could only find "Junox2" and not a download in sight. Can anyone suggest some others?

I was just curious if any of you producers have noticed any hearing loss since you started producing. Do you take any precautionary measures to avoid this? Do you wear headphones,or listen to your music loudly on monitors? I produce on headphones,so the bass levels (which they say are more dangerous than high frequencies) are not insane.. but i have noticed slight hearing loss. Nothing major, but i do have to turn up the television a little louder these day.. Trying to cut back on how loud i listen to music on headphones, and for how long during the day.

Got one? How do you use it most? I was wondering if there's a way you can sample within a designated time frame, say 4 secs or something.. I know you can sample at a predetermined bpm, but just wondering about the other.

older audio equipment
by Guest Deep Fried Everything- 10 replies

assuming some of you have older audio equipment, whether it's used in creating or listening. i've an old kenwood receiver that will seemingly never die but has static coming through the channels, and i'm sure it's just dust that has accumulated in the gutti-wutts of the rack. what methods are best and safest for said equipment? i'm sure the rack is still good, it's just a bit dirty. it's a kenwood kr-2090, fwiw.

A perfect example would be the bass sound in John B - Up All Night, I woulda guessed it would be all about detuning, layering and distortion, but I don't really have a clue  :on2long: :nuke: :phone:

Time signatures 1 2 3

Can you guys listen to a tune and work out its time signature quite easily. Ive been trying with almost everyone song I hear recently and sometimes I cant work it out. Not really important for anything that productive, but can for example hear a snares song and work out its abstract freakish time signature?

squarepusher New, lots of production shit to spill...

Aight all, awesome community you lot got going here, all the WATMM artists are my favourites and all, anyway, I'm 16, from London, use Reason a lot, n I make sorta ambient/trip hop cheeky early wagon christy kinda shit. Also I make a lot of happy Dnb that kinda could be compared to High Contrast. Anyway, I always listen to squarepusher and think, shit, to come close to that kind of programming would be dreamy, I mean I'm aight at production in many other respects, I've been at it for a good four years now, but damn, his beat programming is nuts. And also Hrvatski (check him out if you haven't; that's an order for squarepusher fans) and just all that electronic music …

achieving better softsynth/softsampler bass?
by Guest aeser- 4 replies

the main and pretty much only weakness i've found with software instruments thus far is their lacking bass "fullness"/"warmth"/"fatness", that (obviously) analog, and (depending on the equipment) digital hardware have. example, my emu e4xt hardware sampler is a digital audio box, plays digital samples, but sounds so fucking heavy and full bass-wise it puts my software to shame, but why? it's just based on software too, what does my g5 lack that the emu doesn't to make it sound so much better? i know the emu's have really good converters and that must definately account for at least some of it, and i've heard it rumored that emu's apply some proprietary compressi…

need basic help setting up Remote sl and Cubase...
by Guest smellybug- 8 replies
- 1.1k views
Anyone have those? I have the Remote 25sl controller and Cubase sx3 running on an XPS. Just trying to get the two talking. I can't find good basic step by step instructions at the Novation site and the manual shows connection to an older version of Cubase that is somewhat different. Sort of a noob here, could use your help. Cubase sees the controller I believe, I have the Novation template set to Cubase. Grateful for any help or a checklist. Thx. -smellybug
