I feel like posting this here because EKT > General Banter. I just got back from the city, where I signed a lease & paid first & last month's rent & security deposit. I get my copy of the key tomorrow and I'm moving in Saturday. I got a totally fucking sweet 2-story apartment above a deli in south Philly. My roommates are 2 lovely girls who like electronic music and marijuana. One of them you may be familiar with as she has been an on & off vocalist for my music. You can salivate over her picture here. My other roommate does not have any pictures online but you'll have to take my word that she is equally as hot. AND she listens to Plaid. PLA…

Im gonna have to get more serious about demos as time is pressing on, for those of you familiar with how I sound can you recommend me any labels you think my style sound would be suited to? My mind goes blank after rephlex, warp and im not that familiar with alot of labels these days so any names would be appreciated, also if you can avoid naming net labels, just the full on record capitalist gangbang experience. Cheers. Haven't sent out any demos since ....can't remember actually. End of last year or thereabouts.

Sound quality issues
by Guest jamesy boy!- 8 replies

So, I'm running my synth to my mixer, then into my audiophile. Whenever I record my synth onto Ableton the sound just looses it's beefyness, and just generaly sounds more shit. It's definately somthing to do with my soundcard, and I have no idea how to fix it. I thought I might be able to eq the warmness back in, but it's not just an eq problem, plus im not skilled enough to get it sounding perfect. Any suggestions.

Adobe audition VS Cool edit pro
by Guest Monumrnt- 14 replies

I really like Adobe audition. However, when I mix wavs together, I lose the stereo field. This does not happen with cool edit. Why is this? is there any way to prevent it ? Please don tell me: Use cool edit instead... :)

i've been pissing about with reaktor 5 trying to get a handle on it, some lovely synths in there but theres something wrong which means that every time i play a note theres a little click, i've tried changing the audio drivers and all that craic but nothing seems to work, here is a brief example of what i'm talking about using carbon 2 with some kinda aphex patch using the most obvious melody i could think of

http://directnews.f2o.org/wavosaur/ this is a simple but useful free editor, with VST support http://www.cockos.com/reaper/ this one is more powerful and has multi-tracking. Its sort of an ACID clone, and its free at this point. Until it reaches 1.0, then it'll have a nag screen (Boo Hoo). Has time-stretch and pitch-shifting unlike wavosaur. I hope wavosaur is not a brachiosaur. If so, my apologies.

Autechre Studio Monitors
by Guest cuallito- 3 replies
- 1.2k views
Yeah, so I'm putting together a home hi-fi system, and, of course, I'm going to be listening to a lot of electronic music on it. I'm getting swamped by all the speaker choices out there. I figured best choice for this would prolly be whatever the original artists use to listen to their own stuff. So, does anyone know what VS, Autechre, Aphex, etc use in THEIR studio? Especially Ae, 'cause I want them to sound good above all others

Autechre Make me some bass-heavy noise tracks
by Guest my usernames always really suck- 17 replies

So far I only have a noise track I made about 2 years ago for when Surrealist had a similar problem with his neighbors, and Autechre's Gantz Graf on my WinAmp playlist. Those are the only purely noise tracks I have in my entire CD and mp3 collection. I don't want to play rap or any other kind of hip-hop, or any kind of actual music -- noise is certain to not only noise-back my noisy apartment neighbors but is sure to hopefully make them stay away from me because, you know, only "weird" people listen to noise right? So, WATTEM, your job is simple: 1) Recommend me some noise tracks that are sure to penetrate the ceiling so they can hear, through their floor, what I …

[+] experimedia. listens carefully, honest answers, usually short answering times. [+] earstroke. no offense answers, though quality control is obvious. yes/no answer honest and usually in short answering time. [-] thinner. doesn't take any new artists anymore, no matter how close they come to the idea. [-] stadtgruen. almost the same as with thinner. stupid short offending answers, though the music obviously was skipped through. said in a telephone call... the label is held for the names being. lot of rubbish talk about other topics like print media too.

Zero-g's Nostalgia
by Guest mrx- 5 replies

I'm only interested in this sample pack is because of the drum kits included. The demos on the zero-g webpage suck so I need opinions from people who have used this sample pack. Does Nostalgia suck? Do the drum kit samples sound good? Is it worth the price tag? http://www.zero-g.co.uk/index.cfm?Articleid=916

so ... i've been getting around to making a second frenetic electronic music mix thing, but i'm determined to have it be properly mixed this time, like an actual high-quality sort of deal. per someone's suggestion in the original thread for the first mix, i hunted down sony ACID pro 5.0, and i've been trying to get the hang of it, though i'm having a bit of trouble, is the thing; the help menus aren't very helpful ... and keep in mind that i have ZERO experience whatsoever in creating/mixing/editing music, and i'm not so great with complicated software, either ... ergo, this thread, wherein various wattem people with years of experience, academic and otherwise, in e…

Techincal issues with a mixer
by Guest Thisket- 14 replies

I have a Behringer UB-2222FX mixer and I was playing with it today, left it powered on alone for a while, and came back into my room to hear a deadly-sounding static screaming out of my headphones. Luckily they weren't hurt, but my mixer keeps making the sound. It differs in sound when the built-in effects are selected. Any ideas? Is this even the right place?

I've setup an uploader for everyone here that doesn't have a place to, to upload their musics and stuff. http://sisforawesome.com/upload should be easy enough, just sign up, and start uploading. everyone gets 300mb of space, 3 gigs of bandwidth. i'm hoping this will encourage more people to start sharing their music and getting this section of the site more active, encouraging more actual music making in this music making COMMUNITY.

Cubase question
by Guest The Bro- 10 replies

Okay I'm still using Cubase VST24. Now I know this is like an ancient prog (about 6 years old now) but I am so used to it and find it so useable. Now I tried to use the latest Cubase, Cubase SX3, but I just found it a serious bitch to use. I know that its supposed to be a steep learning curve (apparently) but seriously why the fuck is it such a bitch to use? All the usability of beyond VST24 has just gone IMO!! Now the real dillemma to me is that I want to just be able to use my version of Cubase when I get a new PC but I get the feeling that XP doesn't like the old Cubase. That said I have used VST24 on someone's PC running XP and it seemed to be okay however…
