Post your loops/sounds/patches
by Guest môak- 2 replies
hi there i have decided to open up a thread which allows all you aspiring musicans, or hobbiests to post and share with the rest of the EKT community any loops or sounds or patches or even arturia insrtuments that you want. so if you have a drum loop that you don't think you'll use anymore, then post it here...there might be someone who can incorporate it into there own music, and make something out of it. thank-you :clover: :clover: :smiling:

Possible Retarded Question...

Just curious if you can extract certain files from Reason ReFills to use in other programs? There's some really nice drum sounds in the Reason Factory Soundback that I want to use in a track but i HATE Reasons Editing/Drum Programming facilities so damn much. Is it possible???

I'm after a mixing program
by Guest meneedit- 9 replies

I know there are not alot of Trance fans here but my question is: What is the best program for mixing? Note: The program must have the following features: -Live EQing -Ability to auto-beatmatch without altering pitch (stretch beatmatching) I tried doing a little mixing in Audition. the first track was "Syntax - Bliss (Felix The Housecat Vocal remix)" and the second was "Infusion - Girls Can Be Cruel" With the second song, when I tried to simply stretch the whole song by only 1% Adobe Audition stuffed the beat up badly. Changing the splicing frequency fixed this problem, but then even though the kicks of the two songs were now sy…

I'll assume AKGs are the best for this task, but which ones are considered the best? K271 have this in the discription (their other headphones don't, does that mean they leak more?): The K 271 Studio are also ideal for all applications where no sound must leak from the headphones. The headphones switch off automatically when taken off. Since this feature prevents headphone signals from spilling over into an open microphone it is highly appreciated by recording studio, live sound, TV sound, and broadcast engineers.

I can't for the life of me get ReNoise to recognize any VSTs on my computer except Pro-53 and Absynth. How in the hell do I get it to accept all of my freeware shit like buffer override? Is it because I have the demo?

I dont know if I should expect any replies because I should imagine this is mostly people further along than me, but looked back a few pages and couldnt find a newbie thread.. Just looking to get a bit of a setup together because Im about to start my gap year so Ive got a bit of time and saved up a bit of money finally. What would people reccomend for 500 quid, bearing in mind I currently own: shitty Dell Inspiron laptop korg electribe er-1 and have access to: logic (only for apple), microkorg, roland sh-101, korg kaoss pad I and 500 quid to spend potentially though Id rather it was a bit less, though I dont know how possible that is.

i've been looking around for some decent studio monitors, and came across these. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Rec...00666&src=HC004 for some reason, these seem way better than anything else in the price range, and have gotten pretty much all positive reviews. i've really got no idea when it comes to this stuff, as i'm just starting out, but i'm pretty sure anything will be better than my 2 watt speakers from wal mart at this point. was just wondering if this is an extremely good deal, or if there's something i'm missing. recommendations and stuff would be appreciated within the price range, $200-250.

Do you know of simple computer programs?
by Guest Thisket- 7 replies

I just remembered how much I hated thinks like Fruity Loops and Reason, because THEY WERE SO BIG AND FORMATTED. Does anyone know of simple, plain-clothed Windows programs? Like Cool Edit 96/2000? But not for recording?

Controlling Breakbeats with a Theremin
by Guest we_kill_soapscum- 16 replies

i have this idea and i'm wondering if you smart motherfuckers could comment on it. i have been throwing a few ideas around m'brain about a good live tool for breakcore-esque music. one idea ive had is taking a theremin and running it into max msp, using a pitch-recognition patcher like fiddle, and then assigning a sample (amen snare etc) to each note, chromatically. that way you could wave yr hand around and control an amen. with practice you could use theremin fingering techniques (like theremin 'virtuosos' use) and have ultimate amen control.

Aphex Twin Getting the most out of a live-recording
by Guest joshier- 4 replies
- 1.1k views
Hello. I have a video of a set by aphex twin specifically, (temple bar @ dublin) which i reckon is the best set he's ever done (from my knowledge) Trouble is, the quality is pants, it's clear for a set recording (from the crowd on a digitial camera) but bass really flaps out. I was wondering what i could do to the sound file to improve it. Perhaps i could add compression to bass?.. I don't know, i'm trying to think of ways now but they don't seem to be very appropriate! I'm not looking for brilliant quality, but any tips on improving the quality some-what. Below is a small clip of what i'm dealing with here. (so far i've not eq'ed yet) I…

Blah... my trusty oxygen 8 busted. The pitch wheel endlessly jiggles and causes my music apps to crash and whatnot, so I'm in the market for a small 2 octive(ish) keyboard. I been putting serious thought into this one: Play controls Beat pad (MPC styles) Endless Rotary Knobs 2 Octives $180 I'm a cunt hair away from buying it, but i was curious if any of you guys knew about a better 2 octive keyboard for EKT'ing. I have a gigantic synth and shit already so thats irrelevant, i just like having a small thing next to my computer keyboard for working out thoughts and playing with sounds real fast. Thx! ps . anyone know a good vst that wi…

educate me on a lil bit of musical math

I know A-4 (or was it A-5?) is a perfect 440hz (or is that khz?) sound frequency, the only one I know of that's a nice integer without ugly little decimals trailing after it. That said, is there a simple mathematical function to compute the frequency of any note that's (+-)x halftones away from A-4 as a center? I understand music notes are on a somewhat logarithmic scale, so it's probably more complicated than just adding or subtracting a multiple of certain number from that.

Im starting a new show (underplayed) on resonance FM very soon...for those of you not familiar, it is an experimental/arty radio station broadcasting on FM in london, and on the net. The show will basically be there to play YOUR music...be it playing a guitar made from spaghetti or singing sweet love songs through a guitar pedal. I want to keep the show quite varied so anything is good, particularly more slow/plinky plonky stuff of which i dont have enough of. I want it to be a kind of go between for musicians who dont get their tunes heard enough outside of the bedroom, so write me a note and dont forget your e-mail/myspace so that others may get in touc…
