squarepusher Incunabula

I just started listening to Autechre .I was introduced to them more thoroughly from this board after joining because of the likes of RDJ and Squarepusher. I have listened to Incunabula and just finished Amber. I am listening to the records in order and enjoy them immensely so far. My question is how different or "advanced" did Incunabula sound compared against Black Dog or Aphex(especially SAW). It seems as though SAW is the unsung hero of early electronic music, while Incunabula, although maybe not as musically lush, sounds much more advanced and technically superior.

I just noticed there that the one i have on my hard drive is only 78 mb, while the one up on That Other Site™ is 122 mb. Is it the same recording at a higher bit rate, or a completely different one? To have that gig at a higher quality would be unbelievable.....possibly the best of all their bootlegs. The bit at 12:55 is just incredible, i wish they did it in the soundboard recordings.

[from V/A - Future Music Magazine Promo (1995)] All Tomorrow's Linoleum [V/A - All Tomorrow's Parties 1.0 (2001)] Naftwa4 [V/A - Warp Mix (2…

It's just too good. I've only got the german radio set version, and listened to it to death. It'd be killer to hear a full quality version.....don't suppose anyone has it? Seems to be totally overlooked.

I thought that some of you might like a little rest from salivating over Quaristice and take a few minutes to show your appreciation of this oldie. It sounds a little naive nowadays maybe, but it's a still lovely and uplifting little track. OK, back to Quaristice...

So, at live Autechre concerts, do they basically make up tracks on the spot? Its seems like most of the Autechre live recordings contain no tracks from their albums. I guess I just need to get some things cleared up about their methods of live performance. So what do they do at concerts? This track was in the Pontin's Park recording, I liked it:

Could anyone help me in my quest to find these? Getting a physical copy of the Japanese CDs is almost out of the question; I've never, ever seen them for sale anywhere, though if I found one I would buy them for a reasonable price... Incase anyone is interested I have a .FLAC copy of 'Medrey' from the Japanese version of Tri Repetae to trade.

Autechre Parhelic Triangle
by Guest Morgan- 16 replies
- 2.5k views
Do you think Autechre sampled Stria to make the tones in Parhelic Triangle, or did they generate those sounds themselves? Those bells sound an awful lot like the original... (If you don't know what Stria is, it's a very old electronic piece which was the first to use a completely new musical scale, the notes layered to reflect their different possible combinations.)

Like whoa. They used the more straightforward hip-hop part of course, but pretty cool nonetheless.

Doesn't it seems like Autechre is winding down or something. I was disappointed to discover the other day that my favorite album (which seems to be the best - filled with good textures, new ideas, and diverse tunes) Incunabula is listed as their first album release by wikipedia. If the better albums were listed as more recent on the discographic chronography, then I would have more hope for great new autechre sounds. Who else thinks their best albums were the early ones? I just can't wait until the next content filled album is released by one of this forum's big three.
