Autechre Autechre or Bola or Neither!
by Guest rob- 5 replies

Hi all, I'm trying to identify a piece of music. Its ID3 lag and track name claim it to be a Bola remix of VI Scose Poise by Autechre. The problem I have is it sounds absolutely nothing like VI Scose Poise by Autechre (its far too musical if you know what i mean!) and it sounds nothing like anything by Bola! It is however one of the most fantastic electronic pieces I have ever heard and I would love to know who its written by. Anyone else come across this? Is there any way I can post a clip of this tune for someone to identify. Many thanks! Rob

wtf? D1 is obviously "Adonis - No Way Back" through some beat-repeat-like (ableton live) plugin. same thing with A2, but with "Armando - Downfall". pure and absolute shit imo

I wantet to do the cover art on my body! But the Tattoo-artist said: Impossible because that is Computer graphic. ☹️ I had painted some other stuff into it also. What should I do now?

French Kiss was the first Ae?
by Guest- 1 reply

Just remember that awesome Lil Louis French Kiss song from back in the prehistoric past (I'm from year 72, so already lived then). I pretty much loved it. Quite monotonous, but the point is to put interesting things in every <n> bars. It just has the flow. Think Sweet Exorcist Testone, simple but effective. Well and that slowdown and speedup. So do you think Ae have been influenced also by this? In their aiming for instability? In the speed and (rhythmic) timing experiments and the freedom they achieved in that field? I'm especially thinking about Stop Look Listen as the first big occurence of time experiments. Sean pls WATMM pls

This is probably older than some of you lil shits. Somehow it's still online. Props to Dutch ISPs and the Fredscape Collective for their cyber fortitude. Cavity Job review is a personal favourite. http://www.cybercomm.nl/~teccie/technopage/autechre

People outside of the electronic music world often talk about other 1997 albums very reverentially, like OK Computer by Radiohead, Spiritualized's Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space, Built to Spill's Perfect From Now On, Either/Or by Elliott Smith, and The Lonesome Crowded West by Modest Mouse. And there are classics within the electronic field from that year, like Biosphere's Substrata and Homogenic by Bjork. Some hip hop fans will also fondly remember Camp Lo's Uptown Saturday Night and Company Flow's Funcrusher Plus. But for whatever reason, people in general focus way more on the album immediately prior to this gem when pressed to name a single Autechre alb…

***prepare for irony*** The name Autechre still puzzles fans. It's the shape-shifting meaninglessness, the opennes to pronounciation that keeps us asking for insight on it. There are apokryphal theories, that it's an abbreviation for 'audio technical research', wich it clearly isn't. Why? Because itself get's abbreviated into the most simplistic form of Ae. An abbreviation doesn't used to be abbreviated itself, doesn't it? This abbreviation is there since day one: the release of the debut album Incunabula, boldly stated in huge letters on the cover. Ae represents almost as clear their music, as the full name. But there are some riddles around it that r…

Autechre The God Damned Digital Exclusive
by Guest Spittal- 15 replies

As a musician I try to get everything as legally as possible. So I spent a good portion of the day searching through google trying to find a way to purchase the Digital Exclusive EP (THE ONLY EP I DON'T HAVE BY AUTECHRE!!!). I finally found the link to the iTunes japanese store and I tried to purchase the god damned thing only to get denied, saying that I can only buy things that are on the iTunes Canadian store! Sigh, so I give up. Autechre obviously knew that the rest of the world outside of japan were going to get their greasy hands on a copy of this, they are just trying to make our lives harder. So I ask WATMM for help, but not for illegal, forum rule bre…

AE Tour 2020 1 2
by Draft78- 46 replies

I just posted this clue in the AE_LIVE thread, but I think it deserves a dedicated thread. In a facebook page (autechre fans) someone wrote the following: "From the newsletter of the boys' agency : AUTECHRE TBC touring Q3-4 2020 " If they present an updated version of 2016 live we would still have to wait a long time for soundboards, but since it is material dated almost four years, it is reasonable to hope for completely new material, and, in the meantime, the publication of aeonsix ... Cthulhu must have heard our invocations!
