It is! I have red Reddit-comments like: "Autechre played white noise with feedback for 45 minutes, most horrible act I ever seen." I don't take this guy for his word but I understand if he or she was completely lost. I have several discussions with normal music lovers and the ALWAYS say the same: Incunabula, Amber and Tri Rep is good but they don't get their new style at all. "They do too much programmed music with too much digital cold sounds and no warm shredding with beats." say one person I talk with about Autechres work. Is it too complex sometimes? Should they make more "easy listen" music?

I must have listened to this 20+ times but right now it sounds like I've never heard it before. This us not the first time ae has done this to me. How do they do it? Does this happen to you?

First off, the former is perhaps easy to write off as filler (though at times it calls to mind parts of VI Scose Poise with a bit of imagination), a nothing of an interlude, as it lies between fan favourites Perlence and Simmm. You could call it a little segue onto the second side of the first LP (if you have the 2xLP version). Not too too much going on, really. Feels more of a reprise of its' counterpart than the corresponding cut does an extension of it, if you ask me. However, the latter, expanded version found on the limited Quaristice (versions), is a tasty treat which is nice to see the presence of among its cohort although I always find myself wishing it were …

Autechre Who has written the most cringe worthy or pretentious Autechre reviews? 1 2 3 4

This thread will act as a database for any reviews written for Autechre albums that have literally made you cringe, get angry at your computer chair, or want to punch a wall. It can be because they are pretentiously written, completely out of touch with what makes Autechre so good, or just embarrassing for any reason. The goal is to make a poll for the single most upsetting/annoying autechre review or reviewer. Keep in mind this is not for negative reviews only, positive reviews can be cringe worthy too. Ok Go

Has anybody talked about how the artwork is based off John Conway's Game of Life and Life Patterns? It's basically Autechre going even further into the idea of regenerative music, but this time giving the hint that its more human than what they played with in the past.

Hope to hear where they're going next. I feel like Exai was the most fully realized album in years so a follow-up EP should be great. (artwork is by tDR, as expected)

Scene 1: we start out in some kind of next-dimensional waiting room with a jumble of objects existing in a state of flux. It’s kind of a paradoxical thing, like chaotic equilibrium. there are platonic solids bouncing into globs on non-newtonian fluids, arcs of plasma jetting about, old People magazines, etc. it is here that the the first ones, the ineffable, antediluvian Great Dyad of rob and sean call their home, their unspoken machinations manifesting as great ripples and rumbles through the medium, lush pads and sick beats, the 2 elements from which all other things spring forth. the aloof, stoned gaze of rob and the piercing chav stare of sean settle on a single …

Was browsing a bunch of old move of ten related threads, and basically, at the time, it was not super popular. What about now ? 9 years later do you like this ep ?

ever since i heard ae i've had a wish that i could be able to hear them on defined and professional sound system. i recently had a chance to hear some of the autechre material on really proper badass superb acoustics. a guy that builds his own speakers, about 2.6 m high, spent almost ten years completing the design and collecting the parts. all custom and defined and whatnot...anyway... what amazed me the most was recury. i always thought of it as one of my favourites, but i've never realized how powerful is its composition. as the first beats came in i already felt like i'm submerged into it. it completely got my attention. then the sprays and showers of some tiny m…

PEN EXPERS 1 2 3

OK, before I begin, yes, I bought Confield and, yes, it has been lying around for a while. I was listening to music, as per usual, with the Shuffle switched on. And all of a sudden, Pen Expers hit be at full blast. I was suddenly thrown into a world of percussion, like the Richard D. James album, but with even less consideration to the listener. I kept listening, if not out of curiosity, to Pen Expers. And then the melody started kicking in, a sonic blast of melody that you could only see for a millisecond at a time. And, as it progressed, I was perfectly still. Pen Expers. It was like seeing a bright light shine through a huge grid of iron, comprising ever…

(photos via https://www.waste.org/~alone/autechre.html) So I've rediscovered this set and gotten heavy into this weekend. I need all good iterations of it and generally just want to gush over how good it is. As of right now I've got three good copies of this: Toronto (soundboard), Oakland, and Cologne. Links: TORONTO https://forum.watmm.com/files/file/1587-autechre-2001-05-09-canada-torontomp3/ or https://archive.org/details/Autechre2001-05-09 COLOGNE https://forum.watmm.com/files/file/1557-autechre-2001-04-01-germany-cologne-1mp3/ https://forum.watmm.com/files/file/1555-autechre-2001-04-01-germany-cologne-2mp3/ https://forum.watmm.com/files/…

There is a 2nd twitch channel that appears to be pointed at from Seans old twitch, they also added some emojis and sub? or something. Looks like the new channel had a test run a few days ago so might be safe to assume they will stream soon. With any luck they will give some of their patches a spin 😉 https://www.twitch.tv/4utechre (Seans old channel) https://www.twitch.tv/au7echre (I guess this one is Rob)

We've been blessed with not one but TWO great AE releases in a short span of time, with 20 great tracks to consume, analyze, and absorb - but overall, which one is the better of the two?

So my brother isn't into electronic music at all. He listens to Pearl Jam, and Hendrix and such. So I was listening to LCC the other day, and my brother walks in my room with a bright look on his face and says "I didn't know you played counter-strike! .... oh." Anyone got any funny stories?

adult swim does this thing where they release an exclusive track by different artists every week, and this year they got an Autechre track Streaming only, as apparently the legal/technical mumbojumbo associated with allowing downloads is a paint in the ass, and no one downloads music anymore (statistically speaking) I'd link a proper source but the only one I can find atm is MetalSucks

Autechre the Autechre technique?
by Guest jbuonacc- 15 replies

i've been getting heavy back into Autechre over the past month or so. listening mostly to the later stuff and live sets from '98-05. from roughly the Chiastic Slide period onward their sound has evolved considerably, and i've always been particularly fascinated at how the timing of certain patterns seems to stretch and shift all over the place. i've never really been able to figure out how they do it. the Max/MSP patch did nothing for me really (not that i really studied it) and i knew that it must be more than just programming drum patterns that change signatures, etc at certain points and time-stretching bits here and there. i'm not too keen on generative software,…

I love it how this track rattles like hell and even has an increasing rattle-effect towards the end. Gantz Graf! Needs more appreciation?!

Yes! This track deserves to be hyped - My god it is a beast! and my friend called it "Nice ambient techno" wich I think was very funny but pretty fair! Just listen to that acid bits around 3:30... And listen to that long and tasty Outro! Mindblowing! Someone on Watmm said that Autechre only uses Monitors when they mix but I think this is totally BS - cus small layers and sounds is heard easy with closed back headphones that are almost impossible to hear with speakers/monitors.
