Discuss: I think that remix of Anaconda is the best thing Nicki Minaj has ever done. I also think Autechre's "version"? is way better. stripped it down and went minimal.

I have compiled a Spotify playlist of music R&S have played on webcasts, radio shows and mixes dating all the way back to 1991, based on tracklists assembled by users here and elsewhere. Spotify's library is too patchy for this to be anywhere close to comprehensive, but I figured it'd be of use anyway. Link!

For me, it goes like this: Confield Chiastic Slide Untilted LP5 Oversteps Draft 7.30 Tri Repetae Amber Quaristice Incunabula Yeah, that pretty much says it. Confield is at the top, the first one of their "difficult" albums that properly clicked with me. Of course this (and any part of the list) may change as I go on to discover the albums in different ways. Oversteps came up right behind LP5. It's very hard to compare these two albums, but I suppose LP5 wins for its strong, hard-hitting tracks like Rae and Drane2. Oversteps is more about subtle atmosphere, which I might appreciate more as I dive further. Draft 7.30 seems surprisingly low. For s…

There is nothing more amusing than reading negative comments on autechre. A shining example of relativity: the same qualities considered exemplary by those who love them are used as deplorable facts by those who cannot tolerate them. So, here is a thread that collects the common sense of repulsion towards the subject of this forum. I start with this gem just found on the net: It was the worst concert of more than hundred I have been to. The duo started out anonymously half an hours later they were supposed to. Rob Hall had to come out and play twice, I guess, because Autechre were late. While Autechre were performing, it was completely dark in the hall. A…

Generally, we know, many tracks take time to reveal themselves: sometimes they can appear anonymous until one day, when we think we already know everything well, listening distractedly we realize that those are extraordinary ideas (yes, this happens to me when I lower my guard and I don't listen analytically), and we are surprised at how we couldn't understand it from the first moment. Even on exceptionally minimal pieces such as TBM2, all of a sudden the combination of an elementary tempo and a few laconic sounds can turn into suggestions of barely hinted melodies, which are built on subtle relationships that, precisely in their not being manifest, put in motion of inter…

Okay so I think everyone knows I'm a big fan of Plaid and how they're best IDM act I've listened to, but I also really love Autechre, and been thinking of songs from their varied discography that sounds closest to Plaid, and so far I feel Melve is an easy one, and for some reason Chimer 1-5-1 reminds me of a collab track with Plaid, since the main beat reminds me of the kind of softer sounding beats Plaid does in albums like The Digging Remedy. You got any others, guys?

Auditory hallucination-esque moments in Ae 1 2 3 4

Obviously the Ae boys make very subtle music, and (as they themselves have noted) tend to attract a lot of detail-oriented listeners. So I'm curious if anyone else has kept mental note of any subtle / borderline subliminal shit going on in Ae tracks that you think might be worth sharing. This isn't (intentionally) about really pedantic, boring stuff--but about surprising musical / sonic details that you maybe thought you had to be imagining until you listened to the track in question again. (The basic assumption is just that it's fun to find out about interesting things that we might've missed--especially in music as ingenious as Ae's.) I'm mainly thinking of how …

Forgot to put Exai in the title but do I really need to clarify this? FLeure: Totally nuts, like a tiny robot on crack. Starts to sound like a farty mine. It's like you stumbled upon Exai and this is you falling into its' cavernous depths. irlite(get 0): very untilted. Noisy and chaotic as all hell for the first half. Then we get all serious and break out of the noise with these piano stabs. Then some crazy sonic the hedgehog style synths come in and plink around for a while. Good fun track, not too serious. Gets very dramatic in the second half, lots of space. Civilizations used to live down here a long time ago. Nice and evil bass line in the last few minutes. …

I always thought of this as an inconsistant progression between the manic sterile sounds of LP5 and the organic weirdness of Confield. However, I dug this out again this week and have been playing it a lot, and I have grown to love it a lot. I always thought a handful of tracks were great, especially the last 4, but now tracks like Squeller, Left Blank, and Liccflii have really grown on me. The only track I still don't like is Outpt, which starts off interesting but is too repetitve and goes on too long to hold my interest. Autechre always surprise me by keeping up with my tastes years down the line!

It is with great excitement that we announce the participation of Autechre (æ) at Terraforma 2021 . The prominent Warp Records duo has carved the history of electronic music for the past three decades and have recently revealed their latest album “Sign”. Autechre’s music has exhibited a gradual shift in aesthetic throughout their career, from their earlier work with clear roots in techno, electro and hip hop to later albums that are often considered more experimental in nature, featuring complex patterns of rhythm and subdued melodies. Their live experience is a classically pitch-dark mind-warping audio affair, which has undoubtedly reached an i…

Anyone aware of any sets/recordings similar to the Domino set? Been listening to this set a lot (especially after a few drinks); strikes me as white hot and atypical of other output. Especially parts 2 and 3 in the YouTube chop.
