At first listen (and to my ears etc...), the best tracks Tom has released since Ultravisitor. By a margin.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I really liked his last LP. I just gave it another listen and enjoyed it thoroughly,.

observation: today was supposed to be the day blade runner events happen in los angeles. i'm currently in LA and the only thing they got correct is that it would be raining.

It's not steep at all. It's pretty cheap as far as concert halls go. A brand new professional board will cost you somewhere between $10-50k if you're serious about it. This looks like it does all of the basic shit you need for a decent setup at half the cost. Would be a good buy for mid-tier venues that are still using old ass Midas analog boards and looking to upgrade.

An old biker guy in Montreal took me aside in a cafe and told me it was an excellent leather jacket, and that I should rub olive oil into it to keep it healthy. I haven't done that, but I believe him. He seemed like a leather jacket master.

Tracklist is out! The album can also be pre-ordered physically through Amazon. Though no public announcements yet, still. I've updated the original post. Tracklist + pre-order link can be reached through there. Also, new picture up on Bleep (not his Bleepstore, it's not open yet).

After exciting fans with his hour long mix of brain-melting breakbeat and jungle for Warp's 30th anniversary NTS takeover in June, expectation has been bubbling away for official new material. The album sees Tom Jenkinson getting back to using analogue hardware, the same equipment that first helped him develop his sound in the early '90's to craft nine new pieces which chart a journey into harder and darker territory. From rinsing breakbeat tracks such as Nervelevers and Terminal Slam to darker moments...

Lol that is confusing as fuck. Yeah i didn't hate DF, especially if you listen in the vinyl order with D Frozent Aac first (why did they do that by the way, have the order reversed on CD vs digital?). There were some really neat moments on DF, but overall it was plagued by some of the issues as outlined above (sound design, fatiguing compression, lack of dynamics in terms of sound and structure), but i did see it as a move in the right direction from the 2008-2012 material. I agree with the comments above that this new track does seem to have that same effect with the mix...

my main problem with damogen was that even unlike ufabulum (which it was definitely a progression of), it seemed to lack dynamics, in both composition and intensity. the tracks just seemed like a constant assault of LOUD stuff happening (long intense jams), usually without buildups or progressions. been a while since i've listened tho

@rhmilo yup 3500 is kind of steep, but - after finally watching the video - it makes sense. It's got all the whizbang DAW features (compare to $600 protools perpetual license) and it's pretty much a computer that is very closely integrated with a physical audio workstation (easy $1000-1500 for parts). It's also gloating a lot of quality ADC-DAC hardware and motorized faders so manufacturing can't be really cheap either. It's a perfect thing to sell to old school audio engineers who "never got into computers" (I know some of those) so there seems to be a huge market in making the "computer" into something the old school engineer is...

I think i'm starting to come around to this conclusion - just started thinking 'real songs are stemmed out and processed individually' but in reality you're just making more work for yourself in post I used to record live jams on an ole' H4N from the headphones out of my mixer and I honestly don't think i've ever mixed a song better by individually stemming it out and mixing it in the DAW than I have doing the 'live' mix method...also it's near impossible to recreate the magic you create when doing the live jam as opposed to tracking each synth one at a time Also its asking alot from...

Yes. And in case anyone wonders: I didn't get the remasters in 2014 so bought digitals this time around. Lo and behold, in the filenames it explicitly says these are the 2014 remasters. Or in other words, when you buy digital copies of "this" remaster today, you get files with "2014" added to the track title in the metadata.
