  1. alco review by alco: this is the new "autechre" album by them, the brothers. it's called "sign" which is short for "signs." i believe this is an m night shaymalan (or whatever) reference and i believe the "liquid" and "aquatic" aesthetic is a direct reference to this film. iirc the film is about aliens who visit earth but the water is too wet for them and they freak out. hence the autechre album "sign," in other words the wet one by the brothers. this album was given to me in strictest confidence by sean, one of the two brothers who go by "the 'chre." no one has heard i

  2. Do you like The Brothers? I've been a big Autechre fan ever since the release of their 2001 album, Confield. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too ambient, too up-front. It was on Confield where Sean Booth's presence became more apparent. I think SIGN was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant Max/MSP patching of Booth and Brown. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sa

  7. Much appreciated dude + @jules + @Draft78. I guess the first step would be to confirm whether AE would be ok with that, if I remember correctly they had mentioned something in the discord chat as to who owns the rights to the material.

  8. both Ios and Digit could benefit from this, and considering the work behind it and that it is only thanks to them that 08 'set will have a new life, it would seem to me absolutely legitimate. If we don't have a sequel to Sign (considering we are now psychologically misled by this belief), this will be the replacement.

  9. @digit @IOS you should consider patreon. srsly. would gladly show some appreciation for your efforts with cold hard cash. of course ae would have to be ok with it.

  10. Wonderful album. Exactly what I need right now. Can't really remember the last time a new AE-release made me so satisfied. As always, it's not for everyone, but that Guardian-review is kinda cringeworthy. "Crowded dystopian soundworld?" No one else is in Autechres soundworld, you lazy prick. "Negative space?" Can't imagine a more positive space tbh.

  14. Someone blocked me on FB for sharing this. Their argument was "a vote for Biden is a vote for Trump," which at this point, is fucking infuriating. It's like being in a sinking boat with two other people. While I'm frantically throwing water out of it, one is actively poking more holes into the boat, and the other is complaining about how we should have taken a raft instead. Goddamnit. Just be reasonable. This election is a choice between shooting yourself in the leg and shooting yourself in the head.

  19. After sitting with the preorder for a week or so and now listening to it again today, I have to say this album fuckin rules. Bear in mind, if I had to give you my fave Ae album before this it would be either Oversteps or Untilted. It's just a sonic cavalcade that really unfurls after a few listens. M4 Lema is an amazing opener and it feels like their rig is just getting going in the beginning. This is probably my favorite "beat" track on the album. The end reminds me a bit of Altibzz. F7 is reminiscent of known(1), a personal favorite of mine. This has some Bronchusevenmx...

  20. Sean said two albums iirc. Oversteps/MOT were an album and a related EP. they’re generally specific about those kind of classifications, so i’m assuming the green one is a full, separate ‘album’ to be viewed as such, even if it is in some way related to/from the same time-frame as SIGN

  22. Vinyl and CD have arrived, I am at work so will be vinyl spinning tonight. The cover is really vibrant - more so than I anticipated. It's kinda almost luminous. Which is rather fitting given he music we have. So, raspberries to all the artwork haters

Who cares how the guitar solo in Californication sounds when it’s sitting in one of the worst sounding productions in history, don’t even get me started on that hack Rubin because everything he’s been involved with for 25 years has been absolute shit and thanks for the tinnitus from having to listen to all of your loudness war casualty crap on every radio station on earth circa 2000 you shit I had to break up with Nancy because she wouldn’t stop playing Scar Tissue and I still miss you Nancy I’m so sorry it wasn’t me it was the dynamic range and also when Reggie slipped me that bowl with...

  32. I feel your pain; absolutely none of my physical friends listen to Autechre. Boards, check. Aphex, check. Meat Beat, check. etc, but Autechre has proven too obtuse. 'tis nice to share the experience with folks online, at least.

  34. the boys drizzled their knobs in thick lush slippery synth pads, penetrating and allowing the genre of idm for decades to come, releasing the urdge to dance brainingly, not only with the legs but with the mind, expanded by the oscillations to tubescent proportions, and yet the desire to reach the climax is abated by the desire to obtain Sign 2, Green Version. when its coming to this release, less is more ahah i dont understand im way too high on sign to know what this post means but il leave it at that
