  6. Not a bad remix but a bit tepid, you'd hope for more from Æ. Freestyle's obviously quite a big influence on Sophie's more straight up dancey stuff (Nothing More To Say/EEEHHH and the Sfire stuff) so the orch hit at the start of the remix is a nice knowing nod to that style. There's an enjoyably trippy space to this remix but what made the original stand out so much when it was released was the wiggly, plasticy sound design, the lack of drums (in a dance pop song!) and the fun positive energy at a time when UK dance music was mostly very serious and masculine. This remix does...

  7. @drome i'd like to clarify one point i said i choose to trust the scientific community since they're more knowledgeable regarding scientific topics. i realize this could be interpreted as me having blind faith in authority figures. the thing is science has a robust methodology to acquire knowledge, so that when someone claims something is so-and-so, others can determine whether that's true or not. so when the vast majority of the scientific community agrees on something being so-and-so, i choose to trust their conclusions without verifying the facts because i know the method they u

  8. What really matters is that you like the gear you use, that you feel comfortable during the process. Imo that’s the most important thing bc electronic music is hard and complicated to produce so we need to enjoy along the way. Afx loves analog! He was lucky enough to have enough time and money to use his fav tools, ... add his talent to the equation and you get Analord and Syro. Ae described their process and interaction with their max system as playing Grand Theft Auto. Imagine that! That must be fun!

  9. Don't get me wrong I love Syro but I really hope his next big album will be full fucked up beat mode.

  10. Yeah, this is for me also. And the early analog stuff he did with what I understand was just a few of modded synths, sampler and a tape recorder is more interesting to me than Syro.

  11. Responding to the report of Numan's statement with above seems to be coming from the perspective that some label contracts are good whilst others are not. The music industry has always screwed over artists. Spotify have just figured out a way to "legitimise" music piracy in the hearts and minds of literally everyone, whilst raking in all the money for themselves. Labels see it as a way to get some revenue from something that, up until about 15 years ago, was regarded as the end of their business. Listeners see it as a cheap and easy way to get access to all the music they could

  17. i don't remember the SAW gear kit off the top of my head, but from what i recall some of the lushest sounds on those albums (imo) were from non-analogue synth sources: the quadraverb, the dx7, what i'm assuming are a lot of digital voice samples, etc. i'm guessing a lot of the hazy sound of those albums that people love so much comes down not to the particular synths used, but to the fact that he would have been running everything through tape in my own experience that final layer can have a huge impact on the overall sound. like i've had a lot of people tell me that...

  20. @drome - fishy figures: maybe you're right on this but i bet you haven't checked the data yourself to see if that claim is true - extremely high survival rate: not for a certain demographic (but yeah they're a small minority, i get what you're saying) - asymptomatic transmission: what are you trying to say? transmission must be symptomatic for you to trust the scientific community on this or what? - experimental/rushed vaccines: they've been tested already, they're not experimental. rushed? not really. i hear that side effects appear quite quickly so you don't need to wa

  21. the artists get fucked, not necessarily the labels. in the other thread some one (prob dcom) shared some details about how labels accepted trash deals in exchange for spotify shares. the artist makes the product but everyone else gets rich distributing it. great stuff, we love this.

  22. Germany is a US colony after losing the WWII and have little say in the matter since. I generally agree with the notion (discussed in detail in this Yale lecture by a TV guy who worked both in US and USSR, now in Russia) that it is the US who created Putin by continuing to disregard his objections, mainly to NATO bases crawling closer and closer to the Russian border. Not to say that Putin is innocent or anything (though he's made greater than he is by Western media), but the lecture notes how USSR and then Russia did not do a single thing against US foreign interests for about...

  26. To be clear, I didn't call her "left", I called her "left to her party", that means she embodies the social-conservative wing of the CDU. That only means others in her party are more right-wing than her, not that she isn't neoliberal & conservative. She is a center-right politician. I regret ejaculating my opinion all over this thread, damn red wine lol

  27. Her party is mostly against Nord Stream 2 (the planned gas pipeline between Russia and Germany that would supply not only Germany but the entire EU) and as usual, she takes the stance of least conflict. Something lukewarm in between that nobody can really point their finger at and argue against. Nord Stream 2 makes sense, Russian gas is more environment friendly than the US alternative, much cheaper and the closer trading relationships could increase Western influence on Russia and could also be a peace factor (something the Baltic states would really appreciate). Naturally the US sanctio

  28. All German politicians are constantly monitored by US secret services and I'm sure there is a lot of secret interference in political processes happening. "Colony" is of course hyperbolical but the US influence is extreme. Germany wouldn't have to be so submissive towards the US but companies that are connected to Wall Street pay our political parties for doing certain politics that aren't necessarily in the biggest national - or international - interest. The extended arm of the American industrial-military complex and their power elites reach deeply into other nation's governments. Schröder k

  30. 100% think the apartment bombings was a false flag by putin. the fact that they uncovered undetonated ordinance that is the exact type and method used by security services (kgb/FSB) is some good evidence. was done to so they could blame chechnya and invade making everyone forget about what was going on politically. is discussed here.. as well as putin's actions prior on his rise to power. - this is episode 1 https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/putins-way/ episode 2.. https://www.pbs.org/video/frontline-putins-way/
