It's all so good... a treasure trove really. I was particularly loving Vortex, Dusk on the Plateau of Leng, and PnoDrn earlier. He was such a talented individual, glad to have known him. Stoked to have the digital release today & looking forward to the tapes Beautiful addition to the Memory Glands catalog. Thanks to everyone involved3 points

people who use their kids as pawns for their own agenda are a special kind of sick. I’m going to counter this energy by coming in completely nude with a face mask on and saying “why would you want to cover this up” while gesturing at my penis wearing a top hat.2 points

there should be a term for this old dinosaurs of the industry like WV or Tom whose ears are probably just shot to complete shit in their advancing age and as a result their new music has totally wack mixing choices. Beethoven effect? Although I would say that Beethoven got better as he went deaf...2 points

for me it's about transcending the origins (i.e. a bunch of machines, devices) of the music to present something greater than the sum of the parts; something that has a "persona" and captures and communicates an extra, human/spiritual dimension that exists beyond and can not be explained by the equipment used a "good" artist (many) might achive that once, or sporadically a "great" artist (g.com etc) does it consistently, for a whole album or sustained period of time a "genius" (aphex?) does all that, while also being strikingly original, without any obvious or dominating precedent hope that's not too pretentious, hah2 points

The guy's name is basically synonymous with reggae bass. His loss is as monumental as the bassweight he left behind.1 point

It makes absolutely no sense to me that anything to the power of 0 is one and this for me is the ultimate proof that I will never understand maths at any level and anyone claiming that maths holds some universal truths isn't willing to see that any intersection of mathematics with reality is based on coincidence and cherry picking. Maths is made up, not discovered, fuck off.1 point

I think it's because Autechre simply doesn't qualify for the label "music" by most people's definition. I used to dismiss that as a completely ignorant mentality, but I have kind of come around on that opinion. I love Ae as much as anyone, but their work resembles music in the way that Picasso's work resembles actual people. People who are used to, and expecting to see a classic semi-realistic painting of a person is going to be totally off-put by something like The Poet. As interesting a piece as it is, it resembles a person in the faintest sense of the term. About the only thing it has in common...1 point

What a gorgeous album. I don't usually enjoy this type of music, but this is just so beautifully executed. Perfect music for late night car driving.1 point

I left school in summer 1988, at 16, with just enough GCSEs to get onto a course at Salford College, titled 'Professional Audio Systems'. Previously, in spring of that year while I was still at school I visited the college and course leader Sandy showed me around. At the time the Adelphi building had two studios - an 8-track and a 16-track. It all seemed impressive but the thing I remember most was seeing two guys sitting in the 8-track studio with some acid track playing. I asked 'is this yours?', one of them nodded and said 'yeah'. I was thinking 'wtf, people here are making acid tunes, perfect'. I...1 point

Even with global coordination and vaccines and lockdown this virus is still causing massive trouble to human society. Imagine if near nothing was done. I dont get how you think this through. Please explain because it is beyond me. Cant you see the chaos it has caused everywhere?1 point

For me 100$ is a lot of money. Sometimes i forget how some people really have loads of money and power and that for them its basically nothing. It's like another universe entirely that i cant even imagine. I dont especially envy them as i think money and power corrupts and the most generous people (on every level) that i know are often the poorest ones but yeah. The world is a wild place.1 point

^ ain't nothin' guilty about that. that album is a 90s classic. always found it funny how they chose to use the remix for the video rather than the original, too subtle for mainstream ears apparently.1 point
