I think that's done in post processing. The telescope sees in infrared, which is not what we see with our eyes. I think they 'translated' the infrared imagery into what you'd see in the visible spectrum. Perhaps they derived the different colors you see from the various infrared wavelengths that were used, but I really don't know how this stuff works. Just guessing, really.2 points

Some more info on the NIRCam image of galaxy cluster SMACS 0723-73: NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has produced the deepest and sharpest infrared image of the distant universe to date. Known as Webb’s First Deep Field, this image of galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 is overflowing with detail. Thousands of galaxies – including the faintest objects ever observed in the infrared – have appeared in Webb’s view for the first time. This slice of the vast universe covers a patch of sky approximately the size of a grain of sand held at arm’s length by someone on the ground. This deep field, taken by Webb’s Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam), is a...2 points

my impression is that from 2015 to today, the maximum effort has poured into the livesets, which sound like an indescribable condensation of ideas, evolutions and contortions, while the albums (if we want to call them that), seem to me the consequence of a work of rationalization and partition on that overflowing magma. The weak point of the soundboards is the inevitable compression, after all the parameters of a live are certainly not those designed for home listening. But if they weren't too interested in presenting soundboards as perfect representations of the event that happened, giving precedence to the music itself (aka homemade reenactement), I think these sets could be...2 points

Andrews & Davies continue on their experimental electronic collaborations, skittering FM sounds and sparse beats. Highly recommended.1 point

😂 c3RlaW52b3Jk · 19h ago Dear sir, I have carefully reviewed the thesis and arguments presented in your post "Steinvord: Further Down The Rabbit Hole", and would like to bring to your attention additional facts which has been kept from the public eye so far. Through academic contacts, and many late nights of sordid debauchery with various colleagues and associates, I have been granted the opportunity to receive briefing on a secretive research project which took place a few years ago (2007-2014) in continental Europe, known as "Steinvord A". I shall withhold the name of the facilities in which this research took place, for reasons which will become clear in...1 point

the massive propaganda surrounding everything from the ghost of kiev to the fucking goat of kiev and western backing of the continuation of this war so they can sell weapons reeks of bullshit and human slaughter on a mass scale, there are no good sides especially not the corrupt ukrainian dictatorship which refused to surrender to putin's terms which were basically "stop perpetrating war against donbas and crimea and don't join NATO"1 point

Did anyone pick up any of the vinyl bootlegs that were pressed after this was "released"? Was the quality any good? How difficult are they to find now? I saw someone on eBay selling one for $300, which is offensively stupid. Seriously, it's a bootleg, shouldn't be more than $30. Thanx.1 point

So Russia invaded the Ukraine to aide the US in this ad-hoc experiment? That's awfully generous of Vlad.1 point
-
In this case (and at this point in time) it's more about the West (cough USA cough) fighting Russia by Ukraine's proxy. It's an ad-hoc experiment with the ultimate goal to weaken Russia. Bidet rejected all of Zelenskyy's proposals for a peace settlement. Talks are off the table (for now at least) One can see how the grim reality of international politics hit Zelensky like a train; since Bidet chinwagged with the EU coalition, his energy visibly lowered. Again, opportunistic play by USA, who tries to do another Russia vs. USA via Afghanistan 2.0. And Russia will not back down. It's despicable. Nothing ever changes on the big stage. It's...1 point

Yes. He said something like not feeling much for the album format right now. He feels more for the live sets to be their creative output. He said he always felt weird to talk about music they did a year or so ago when an album or ep came out.1 point

S1 good, very good even. S2. Good. S3 wtf. S4 good so far. But I am a confirmed idiot.1 point
-
F stranger things S4, nothing but content filler designed to make way to fit yet another season and hopefully drive retention of some Netflix subs. Streaming wars are producing a bunch of shows that are ads for themselves, the incentive is for stories with no closure and cliffhanger endings are a must. not that before shows didn't live beyond their natural story life but I don't see a place for, say, a grey's anatomy or a traditional procedural that can afford to go on forever in the streaming model. They have to pretend to have a story arc to get people binging while at the same time they can't risk...1 point

Just finished ep7 of The Boys S3. Really impressed with this season, my favourite so far. While the violence can be a bit much for my tastes, there's some real moments of pathos amongst all the carnage. Diabolical.1 point
