  1. Haha fuck that might have been me sorry 🤣 The shrooms kicked in hard in the second set, the sound near the middle of the back row was amazing (we were further down and to the side for first set) and the set was like they just kept finding more and more incredible ways to do a backflip - every time they did one I would get excited and punch my open palm and grab my pal next to me. Really genuinely sorry if it was distracting 🤦. Guys in front were chatting through the first set and that annoyed me no end. This is probably partly down to the...

  5. I wasn't on anything, but there was that moment on the second set, three quarters in, before the groovy stuff... It gave me orgasmic shivers, tail-bone to hair, as a sort of a dark oily resonant sea-wave crashed on me as i "was" an indoor cave beach on a cthulhuian planet.

  7. The primavera set I attended, the Helsinki soundboard recording and the snippets from Barbican, all seems to indicate they have finally realized the “live set as a complete real time generated album” concept. So much detail, so much ambience and naunce and variety on every set… I personally can’t wait for the soundboard recording for all these concerts, it’s already for me the most interesting Autechre period by far, they’re the Miles Davis or Can for this age.

  9. Went to the first set at the Barbican last night. Completely incredible. Relentlessly brutal with moments of real beauty. Every "track" full of so much creativity and the transitions were done really well. Felt like a proper coherent hour of music despite the variety in each section. Also thought the soundsystem was really good, loads of clarity in the sound. Absolutely loved it, can't wait to listen to the soundboards.

  12. Who's the best person on the forum currently for sorting out files? I have recordings of both Barbican sets but they will need some subtle mastering attention and hosting somewhere, I don't have a mega account etc. I'd like W.A.T.M.M.ers to be able to hear them but don't want them splashing all over YouTube...

  14. 1st set was very close to the Helsinki set - seemed to hit all the same points with the same overall structure. It sounded harder and more aggressive but that could have just been the volume.

  15. I was at both shows tonight. First one was a brain melter, will take a while to process it. The second show was completely different set. It had a very different vibe, sounded more like futuristic hip hop, even some Gescom style scratching thrown in. There was a section that reminded me of Dial. There was a more vocal crowd reaction in the second show. The two Zoviet France sets were different as well.

  17. Yeah I love the Barbican. The whole estate is amazing, reminds me of Syndicate on the Amiga. Less guns/murder tho.

  18. Damn, thought there would've had to have been some sort of pre-show meet. Shame I didn't catch you man 😞 One thing that I completely underestimated was the effect of the performance being in complete darkness (aside from a few pin point lighting from the ceiling rig electronics and a couple of dots on stage). It completely threw me time wise - I honestly had no conception of whether they'd being playing for 5 minutes or an hour, and that happened for the entire performance (however long that was!). I knew this was going to happen, but the reality and my expectation of how I would experience that was far...

  19. Yeah, I thought I heard Dial too. The hip hop section ❤️with the scratching and when the beat settled.

  20. It was like a train approaching on the underground and for some reason you decide to jump in front of it at the last minute, but instead of being hit by a train you accidentally download every internet page at once Had a look around for any WATMM-ers I knew the face of before and after but didn't see anyone. Saw Lara-Rix Martin with Mike Paradinas though ...

  21. woah, this like helsinki's lil b-boy brother. sharing quite a bit of pallet, but this one's seems more upfront n funky, also think i know what ppl meant with the "dial" part. if this is similarly better in hi res like the other one compared to bootlegs, we're in for another god damn treat alright. ❤️

  24. It took me like 1-2 working days spread across a few weeks building the Pure Data patch I used to generate (= literally hit play in Live and recorded about 45 minutes worth of loops) the album that I am currently shilling in my signature (https://slowtonecollages.bandcamp.com/album/generations-20200612). So for starting up with MIDI pattern fuckery, it takes very little time to get from learning something and having fun with it. For audio stuff in Max and Pure Data, I honestly have not bothered to learn much, because that part is infinitely deep and I have never been a sound design type. Back when I used Pure Data more the problem also...

  28. I h yeah I heard that and was like how the fuck are they getting that random clapping noise to sound as if it coming behind me. I had some annoying dude sat next to me who kept checking his phone every few mins to send messages in the darkness
    2 points
  29. Yeah, was wondering whether the first set also had all these pretty straightforward hiphop beats and the scratching. Had a lot of groove to it. Had someone in the back row doing some erratic random clapping for like ten minutes in the last part of the second set, pretty weird.

  30. I just rocked this again and to me this is really something. Some amazing moments that sound like the aelive stuff fully realized and perfected and easily the best thing they’ve done in YEARS. It’s got everything an autechre fan could want. I was completely blown away at times. I love the subtle melodies. I’m really happy for and jealous as f to the people that can experience this live. Please take my money asap, autechre.

  31. i'm walking through an old factory, abandoned for years. i notice some old dudes still working there which i think is "mental" until i realize: they are ghosts. and i am underwater. ok, lush actually. so i'm floating and swimming and shit. there's like fuzzy anemones and stuff like that. a completely clear octopus floats toward me. i'm freaked out but he expels an ink blot that spells out "autechre" so i smile at him and he swims off, approvingly. i soar down an old stairway covered in molds, rusts, foams, crusts. at the bottom is an doorway completely black on the other side. i swim in, knowing i'm in...

  32. that's the plan but as part of a batch to come out later and given some proper attention like getting the eq even across all of them, they all vary a fair bit because of venue rigs/acoustics rn. now i have to back all my shit up and pack for friday, flying tomorrow. wish us luck 😄

  37. It seems to never be seriously discussed, but Aphex has most probably composed tons of music under the influence of psychedelics and perhaps still does, who knows. Most of his pre-drukqs music is very psychedelics-friendly, according to many online psychonauts. He has talked here and there about his personal experience with psychedelics, and so did Luke and Squarepusher. To which degree do you think that psychedelics were influential in the invention of Braindance? Aren't psychedelics braindancing tools?
