  1. ^if you're like me then you'll like it even less by the end of the season. it takes a particular turn that i felt ruined much of its potential. in case i or someone else didn't say it already, parks and rec is really good. first two seasons so far anyway.

  3. Still not following why so many people seem to dislike Only God Forgives. I've talked with friends about this film on a few occasions and we come up with the same conclusions on how it's visually artistic which seem's to be something that is a lost art in film these days. The characters come across as devoid of feeling but doesn't this add to what I've just set forth? I'm not saying that it's some miracle work of cinema more so that it has elements that are rarely seen in contemporary film. i didn't dislike it, i just wanted to let people know what they'd be getting into. was it marketed as surrealist? i didn't know. it's cool that its not all-the-way surrealist, and there is a normal story to follow (normal for a violent crime story). and yeah it's artistic, and i think it uses its odd techniques of no-blinking or fidgeting or making expressions to serve an over-arching idea, if i understand it right.
  4. four lions - 10/10 - solid comedy only god forgives - what the hell/10 - surrealist violent crime story in which noone blinks or makes an expression

  9. pbs frontline does solid documentaries and it looks like they're all streaming on their site for free. one of the recent ones, "hunting the nightmare bacteria," is startling. untreatable killer bacteria have recently shown up and are spreading.
  10. 10,000 days aged well for me. i was disappointed when it came out because i was expecting aggressive music with psychological and spiritual themes like the previous albums had, but those aspects that me and a lot of other fans were anticipating were the things the band changed, withdrawing a lot of aggression and making the lyrics much more mundane. it's an odd album that can't be categorized, though words like tribal, punk, and experimental somewhat describe it. as usual danny carey is phenomenal, adam jones makes the guitar visual like no one else, and maynard does his most elaborate filtering/layering yet, and delivers a flooring performance on the title track(s). it's a rich tapestry. if it weren't the latest tool album, but just the first release from some unknown band, it would be considered a marvel. it has a deep brooding vibe that i can't compare to anything else musically, and the bass is outstanding, it's a top 10 bass album for sure.
  11. i wonder if they/he/she would try to maintain the anonymity during a tour. i'd bet they would. hopefully fans would respect it and not be snoopy at the shows. it would be difficult to pull it off, though, with all the people who'd be involved. even if they arrived at the venues in masks and no one knew, that alone would be a tip off. plus if someone recognize tom or richard in one of the cities, that would give it away.
  12. negative points for song lyric post Stop wearing your grudge like a crown of negativity he's naked and fearless
  13. Killing Season John Travolta doing a thick Serbian accent/10 Didn't buy Travolta as a Serbian soldier, which the movie hinged on. Still would have been a thin movie if I had. A Gang Story A lot of people being shot/10 i feel guilty for finishing both of them
  14. in the "can't get over how amazing steinvord is" thread, a few months ago, paranerd posted "Grant is trying to get a tour happening in the States and he mentioned Steinvord on the roster. He's looking for venues, so if any if you feel like you could help him out do so. Then maybe there would be a Steinvord gig happening."
  15. tool have a synth jam track. they played it from 2006 to 2011 as an intro alternately for vicarious or flood, and they played it differently every time. danny had different styles of drums he would play on it, some quite elaborate, some more simple, and sometimes he wouldn't play drums at all. justin had different bass lines he would play with it, and sometimes he wouldn't play bass at all. i recommend trying to find the flac recording of their 2-10-2007 show, that performance if it stands out, but there are a lot of different and interesting versions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xa7dvvMD-gs
