  7. ^^^ that always annoyed me to no end- together with the constant flash back to the hostage scene in the beginning. it's like the film constantly has to remind you why they're doing it like they aren't already discussing it all the time betwix assignments. another thing worth noting: a lot of scenes from sword of gideon seem to have been lifted almost shot-for-shot and recreated for munich. even eric bana's casting seems to be due to his resemblance to steven bauer. come to think of it, the entire team are clones of this cast.

  9. i felt like it was forcing me to relate to the characters instead of just getting on with the programme. this was brilliant. it's based on the 'sword of gideon' mission which was mossad's answer to black september's 1972 munich massacre. spielberg did a full feature which is surprisingly, a kind of edited version of this made-for-tv film, which imo plays much better because it fleshes out the characters more and even gives small details which- in the film version- might seem a little convenient. the only problem is probably the cast which is not quite as seasoned, but i suppose that's more due to budget constraints and 80s cocaine.
  10. couldn't finish this (barely made it through the first hour). what i got is that it's about some family crisis because the mom died during some nuclear meltdown in japan so the kid grows up to date the olsen twin's sister in san francisco and go to iraq. yawn

  12. this is a documentary about the amateur online porn business- mainly focusing on 4 girls. "the average a girl will stay in this business is 3 months" says one asshole. "1 year tops if she's popular". in the beginning things are fun and every new girl is popular, then those words start to become prophetic and each new "assignment" becomes more demanding (demeaning?) and less profitable. what i find fascinating is that the target audience for this subject (and possibly the most enthusiastic viewers) are the very same people driving the porn market, and these are the very same people being blamed for victimizing these women. this is a very puerile subject handled in an equally puerile manner forcing morality down ones throat (no pun intended)

  18. not a bad documentary but got kinda boring. basically, the first 30 or so minutes is a rehash of what the silk road was, then it spends an hour or so with many ross ulbricht fanboys (like the editor of wired and some other guys) basically telling you how great of an idea that was and how unfortunate it is ross was busted. then the end is the trial and "aww shucks- online drug markets should be the future" arguments. alex winter isn't interested in having a conversation about what silk road meant unless you agree with him.
  19. thought this was really boring. and the casting is terrible. the guy playing charlie manson is the most non charlie manson looking person they could've picked. also the story with charlie "i can't remember his last name" seems forced since the real story is the girl who's living with them, and since it won't go into the tate/labianca murders, what's the point of the charlie guy?

  21. this was brilliant. obviously peter strickland has either been watching a lot of jean rollin or radley metzger films because he pinched the erotic parts of those- but he's still running a very textbook production so things feel like they should be there because they were in the shot list rather than naturally being there because they compliment the story. this is better than berberian sound studio. my stamp of approval
