  1. not as great as i hoped. actually, it's more like a more realistic version of prometheus with bits of event horizon thrown in. i can see james cameron thinking "why the fuck didn't i think of this first" right about.... NOW
  2. i agree. the thing that originally caught my attention was how vaporwave was seemed to be recreations of past sounds from distorted memories- like someone asked to describe what it was like being at home on a friday night in the mid 80s watching tv and they described a foggy image that you could only relate to a few details rather than the entire picture. what really killed it for me though was the half ass presentation and production. it's like they said "hey, remember the sounds from tv commercials in the 80s?". and stopped there. i remember one guy just looped some pop song from the time and distorted the vocals. add to the fact that there was a new vaporwaver popping up like daily (sometimes just the same guy using a different name) releasing yet another slowed down version of kenny g stuff looped with a japanese girl on the cover and a cdrom logo on the upper right corner and this stuff begins to look and sound more like spam than music. if they had done this sound, taken a hard look at what made it unique then tried to cultivate it and let it mature into something more than just simple loops then it would've been something great. instead, it's like none of them could figure out what to do next except slow the samples down even more or do an even worse cut and paste job than before. http://vimeo.com/25388542
  3. i couldn't even finish the first episode. i like diane kruger but she cannot act let alone carry a leading role. and i love the part where she's like "nobody is allowed to cross the border because there's been a murder" then that mexican cop lets that couple cross and she's like "why did you let them cross" and he just shrugs and says something like "relax. they wanted to cross" dexter: this is going out on a downhill note unless someone pulls out a bunny from their ass
  4. ^^ above album related: this is some kind of trailer (?) or promo. really love this guys music
  5. protector 101 - hunter's journey: 7 tracks but it packs a mean punch. imagine an 80s b-movie based on a neo geo sci-fi beat-em up video game based around a concept that's 60% the running man, 20% total recall and 20% robocop. now imagine this game was only released in japan and the movie was a completely foreign production starring some unknown guy, maybe van damme, and some random blonde chick who used to be in a bunch of tv movies. now imagine kicking yourself in the nuts because of how insanely good the soundtrack is. done deal
  6. soul jazz presents country soul sisters vol. 2 : i liked this so much better than the first compilation mostly because none of these picks seemed as obvious for such a compilation (with exception perhaps to 'working girl' by loretta lynn and conway twitty) but for me personally, 'the bargain store' was (perhaps) the biggest highlight. straight up classic country
  7. almost forgot: dead body love - audiocide 95
  8. recommendations for john ehrlichman and mixl2: masonna - frequency lsd hanatarash - 3 the gerogerigegege - tokyo anal dynamite c.c.c.c. - loud sounds dopa merzbow - venereology merzbow & gore beyond necroposy - rectal anarchy
  9. another righteous entry into the schoolgirl report anthology. things start off with a classroom full of hot babes blackmailing their science teacher (dr malinger) to have sex with them when one of them gets a friend to take pictures of herself and the wonderful dr romping around at the house. the doctor can't take it and snuffs himselfs out. later- we get a rather serious look at how a duo get their date drunk, inject her with heroin then rape her. a rather dubious announcer tells us these guys have been doing this for years- before interviewing some runaways who tell us their tragic story- from naive country girls to street smart urban whores. crazy

  11. ever wondered what people involved in porn do after they stop making porn? the long answer is that you need to watch this film. the short answer is that the problems begin. it's got some nice anecdotes but it's really a bunch of talking heads telling you about their miserable lives
  12. an amazing piece of social reporting. todays girls are very horny. today is 1971. and we're in germany. in one instance, girls fake being injured just so they can coerce a lunkhead park attendant to assist in their treatment. the lunkhead is sentenced to jail because the girls are only 16. in another, some girl masturbates with an elephant teddy bear because her boyfriend only lasts 12 seconds in bed. i'm moving to germany as soon as i finish my business here amerikan horror movies are stupid
  13. sutcliffe jugend and junko http://4ibrecords.com/2013/06/06/sutcliffe-jugend-and-junko-非常階段hijokaidan-sans-palatine-uvula-4ib-cd0513003-out-in-july-2013/
  14. i've been hearing lots of good things about this film and as soon as i have the time i really want to watch it. lots of split opinions with some people completely not liking it and others swearing it's the best film of the year.
  15. jim jupp said these guys will be releasing an album on ghost box in the winter. not sure if anyone else is familiar with them, but i got their first album (harmonium) and really loved it. i found their (earlier) sounds to be a more poppier take on library and psych music, like a less darker broadcast- i never was able to get my hands on celeste but their new sound seems to have developed into a more focused library/soundtrack and komische exercise. https://soundcloud.com/thesoundcarriers/instro-track oh and check that beautiful artwork.
  16. check this trailer that julian house gave the hauntology treatment
  17. you forgot to mention how gorgeous margot kidder used to be. she was like courtney cox after masters of the universe but with knee length skirts
