New countdown, new release? [Aphex Twin Warp Store]
Alzado replied to Time Tourist's topic in Aphex Twin
You guys think Richard will release his new music this way from now on? He can just sell directly to the masses without need of any other kind of distribution. -

He gave a loving description of PlayerPro in the Drukqs comment section -

This is the opposite of that. It's tons of content with very little manufactured hype. -

I just noticed the words Jaffa Kid pop up in the background of the site. He's watching us. -

No it's not, neither is the Houston track. I'm guessing those are cuts off of his new shit. I don't think there's any other recent shit besides the korg tracks. Hard to imagine that he's put all this together. Really incredible move. And lately he's been talking to us so casually. He drops the barrier between us. He is king. -

I'm still sorting through all of this. Love what I'm hearing so far especially the new Field Day and Rushup Edge tracks. Is the Primavera track among these? I haven't come across it yet but want to make sure I don't overlook it if it is in here. -
Really weird... when I imported the mp3s of the Field Day EP into Spotify, it changed the artwork for track A1 to the orphan deejay selek artwork and it changed the artwork for B6 to the SAW II artwork. There's no way there could be latent meta data attached to the files because I created these mp3's myself in Sound Forge from Amen Warrior's original .wav files. But it's weird because B6 definitely has a SAW II vibe to it. How would it know?

I doubt it
-
Yeah it's gorgeous. And I love the ambient sounds. I'm listening to a high quality FLAC rip and it's gorgeous. The occasional needle pop just adds to it. Get the FLAC if you guys can find it.

Better than Syro? That's insane.

I'm never far from home ?

Verdict: quite good
-
Yes. It has a very warm sound to it. Not sure if that's because it was recorded to tape or because the source is vinyl.
-
Yeah it's all pretty great. But at the same time, it sounds a bit like incomplete thoughts.
-
I'm hoping that whatever gets released in July has the Primavera track on it.
-
This definitely isn't MFM and I'm guessing that whatever that 33 day countdown is leading us to, this isn't it. There's some really good stuff here, but I wouldn't call it a new proper album. The longest track is 4:00 or so. This seems like some odds and ends, some of which are very nice. Track 5 is an ambient little thing with birds in the background. Track 11 sounds like it could be a SAW II reject. Track 6 is the track he's been teasing along with the Weirdcore video effects - a frustratingly short version.

Stepkids is great. Harmony is the best song ever.
-
Right on man. I think you could argue that it could be a little shorter. But whatever it's just a positive record in the best way. Also Colours has that bell sound from Frontier Psychiatrist. Right?
-
Yes also to the folks who've said they've heard a few samples from the first album. The one that I can remember for sure is the high pitched bell sound from Frontier Psychiatrist. It's in one of the Wildflower tracks but can't remember which at the moment.
-
I've had a chance to listen to Wildflower a dozen times now and I love it more with every listen. When I first heard it, I thought it was merely okay, somehow foreign and strange. But after repeated listens the songs have started to unfold for me. I hated Frankie Sinatra at first, but now I get it within the context of the album. This album is a joyful celebration of life and music and I really think it's the best album they could have put out in response to the untoppable Since I Left You. Everything about Wildflower seems like a triumph to me. I couldn't love it more than I do.
