3. lol, yeah apparently people still use it... I walk by a building when I go to school with a Real Player logo on the outside, I assume they do stuff in there and they are making money, tho there always seems to be a bunch of the employees chillin outside smoking cigs
4. pretty sure watching anything at a hipsterdom would make it much much worse...
5. I guess you could describe the attitude as akin to missionaries of music. We find things that aren't commonly found, kind of like artifacts, and we find these things to be important. We worship them. All I am suggesting is you promote those things, listen to everything, but I think back to when someone suggested Aphex Twin and had that not occurred, idk, I would hope that someone would mentioned it eventually. Point is people have not found everything about who they are, if one can ever, so extending yourself in its most honest form is an act of appreciation. We are all unique at some level and it just takes the right chaos to spark that into consciousness.
6. I think there is a distinguishable difference between Art and Entertainment. I used to think the whole thing was subjective, but I think from a broader vantage point there is a difference between music that offers individual emotional depth/uniqueness and music that is a structural and emotional extension of corporate advertising... a repackaging of a proven marketable expression. I am not suggesting that this expression is soulless, it definitely resonates with people. But it is through a deeper expression and exploration of oneself where we see most of the innovation, at least since the 1980s I'd say. And I find that to be of more significance than music that is fun to dance to. Though I don't suggest vocally hating on other peoples music at all. That is foolish. I am simply suggesting that we continue to promote our ideals, not because we are ego maniacs, but because it is spreading knowledge. And anyone who is too closed minded to listen to your suggestion because it is abstract, should be questioned because that seems unfriendly and illogical. I feel I try to be open minded, and at the least I am constantly somewhat aware of popular music due to the abundance of advertising that markets it. Something music of WATMM doesn't really have.
7. Tauboo's got a point tho, you can have a cool pet, that genuinely makes you laugh or reflect on things, kind of like dreams, but most of the time no one gives shit because everyone has their own pet and shit. It's like talking about a really nice turkey sandwich you made the other day and how it tasted. FFS ITS A TURKEY SANDWICH
8. sounds great to me, hell in the back of mind Im still unconvinced that monolith and kendrick are anything but afx lol I know theres a dude who plays "live" at shows, but how genious would it be to create fake aliases, use friends that DJ as a cover... imagine how much $$$$$ richard really got out of bangface and other rephlex shows. Id be interested to know if anyone has had personal chats with these guys and how much history they have with crafting tracks of this level of quality (rephlex releases). if afx goes through different styles and is now mostly only wanting to release older material from 4-5 years ago, that could also explain how we have had no new content from monolith or kendrick for 3 years but now suddenly have new material that is still sounding as if it was made when the first releases came out.
9. still working on this, just what I got so far from last night. fun music to edit to James Ferraro - Sim / Bags / Dream On (unofficial) Far Side Virtual (2011) Electronic, Pop hipposintanks.net/ Footage from film “Coma” (1978) written/directed by Michael Crichton and “Scanners” (1981) written/directed by David Cronenberg [vimeo]51682093[/vimeo]
10. Well said and I would add that the trick to this cultural problem we face is not minding it hurts. Celebrate, discuss, and focus on the good stuff... For attention is their food source, good or bad that they seek to consume. Their celebration revolves around submission to normality and those that don't fall in line must only be that way because they are angry. We must love only.
11. Gonna be posting new videos in the upcoming days, but I'm constantly updating recent ones which can be watched here: http://syd-syside.tumblr.com/
12. After seeing this for the second time at home, it's definitely not as engaging as it was for me on my first viewing in 3D. Primarily I felt that it lacked in atmosphere more which is the strongest aspect of the film. I would agree it suffers a bit from the music which felt more like a comic book score than sci-fi. Visually refreshing definitely and definitely something I will re-visit when I can watch 3D at home on nice screen real-estate. The dialogues main problem was it felt inconsistent in tone. Seemed like it was trying to be too many different things and unfolded anti-climatically (tho I could see that as on purpose to impose the obvious disappointment of man's "biggest questions" pursuit).
13. The aesthetic of the synth sounds very similar, the track as a whole doesn't really.
14. I heard that the building being built in the photo is the new Rephlex Headquarters and its taken a long time because they only had Jodey to construct everything.
