  1. I can't believe how much better this album has gotten for me over the past few weeks. Definitely was in the underwhelmed camp off-the-hop because it didn't "shatter" everybody's conceptions of what music could be like his other releases, and seemed to be "more of the same", but that simply is not true. This is an incredibly special release that breaks new ground in every way; it's just hard to see that objectively when even pop music now incorporates face-melting sensory-overloading synth sounds that he helped pioneer 15 years ago. Because of the way this album was created (modular synths, other crazy gear) the amount of work these songs required are comparable to knitting a persian rug by hand. The detail is astounding. I always forget that Drukqs probably took 100 listens to fully 'get' it, but for exactly the opposite reasons - Drukqs for wrapping your head around the complexity, and Syro for appreciating the subtlety. My 2cents anyways. =Ferro=
  2. It's hilarious that in pretty much every review of Drukqs from 2001, people saw it as being "more of the same" (which it wasn't!) and hoping RDJ would "break new ground" (which he did!), and now it's being used as a reference point for the "freshness" that Syro failed to achieve.
  3. I'm not implying disappointment in the least here, but I still feel that MiniPops is the most 'developed' song on the entire album, and so it was a bit odd being the first thing we were given in context of the rest of the album. It has absolutely everything I could ask for in a RDJ release - rhythmic complexity, slightly odd chord progression that actually Develops, and the haunting out-of-tune melodic fragments. It's like the rest of the tracks are FUCKING AMAZING but definitely favour only one or two of the aforementioned components, whereas Minipops has them all! Just my 2cents, might change minds after another 10 listens! -Ferro-
  4. It means 2nd aphex LP. Confirmed!
  5. As if the grooves that Metz lies on are in somebody's current presence. #asif
  6. I love it when you call me Mini Popps'a.
  7. If Metz is any indicator of what's to come...I just cannot believe that the world will be the same once this is released. The garbage phone recordings we have are so chock-full of mastery, that I'm not sure any of us realize what a properly mixed-mastered version of RJD's latest output will entail. p.s. St. Michael's complexity coupled with The Tuss' subtlety and chewyness = yes please.

  9. Who is this sorcerer who accurately predicted the tracks in 2011???
  10. Using a Crossword Puzzle solver with the xxxx xxxxxxx xxxx xx xxxxxxx pattern gives some interesting results :)
  11. Maybe Lorna and Derek know?
  12. Metz is around 122bpm, there's a couple of possibilities.
