Totally missed this on its initial release but ableton put up a package called Building Max Devices containing lessons to help teach people how to build max for live devices, also comes with 90 example devices. I'm just about to install the pack but already quite excited about this as, even though a lot of info is already out there I felt there was quite a gap between very basic info and delving deep into the max forums, the various books that are available and a number of in some cases slightly obscure websites that are spread all over and this pack seems to offer a sort of middle-ground that's nicely contained. Yes. It seems common/tempting to think that mostly criminals (can’t think of a better way to put this) get involved in this kind of violence which couldn’t be further from the truth. Sold a eurorack module, mailed it out and a couple of days later I get a picture from the buyer showing a parcel with a shipping label that's got my name and address on it as the sender but it's from one of those "I'll buy 10 sizes of each and see which one fits and send the rest back to whatever cunting fast fashion chain I get my retarded bullshit clothes from" assholes, buyer rightfully asks "what's this? this definitely isn't a bleepy bloopy generator". I'm at a complete loss as I saw the dude at the parcelshop stick the label to my shipment before I left. I contact the shipping company and basically what they're gonna do is open random parcels that they happen to have sitting around that fit the description of my package (very average sized and covered in beige packing tape...can't miss it) and if they haven't found the missing item within 5 or so business days then that's it pretty much. Obviously they're not gonna find it and I don't want to shaft the buyer but simultaneously the reason I'm selling my modules is because I need to eat and pay rent and that's a quarter of this months rent vanished and it's due at the end of this week. The buyer has little legal recourse (they picked the shipping company, DHL which is always my last choice) but I really don't want to leave them completely empty-handed. I guess I'll propose to split the damage or something. Also it feels so goddamn entitled to complain about shipping company fuck-ups, even if the companies are evil money-grabbing scumbags. Everything fucking sucks and I pray to god a swift and unexpected death is imminent, nothing that lingers please.

The downside is that I can't have people over anymore for fear of them opening the door to my memory-room where I've plastered our, by now semen and tears soaked WhatsApp chat history to the walls. I was pondering my right leg still not having recovered from an injury that it sustained almost a year ago during an emergency stop while descending a bridge. Haven't hit my 40s yet but already I'm coming apart at the seams. Good.

Market dynamics don't necessarily result in the best outcomes for consumers but are dictated by what's best for the few large players that dominate said market? Just a wild guess. Ofc this "fuck capitalism" stance is a privilege held by the happy few that aren't dependent on capitalism for either their income or platform for creative output.

I've dipped my toes into adsr and used iced audio finder for an extensive period. But I've come to the conclusion that for me trying to incorporate sample management into what I do is more of an effort than I'm willing to make. For me the key is to generally not to obtain any more samplelibraries/packs than I already have and to process stuff I record that I want to get samples from as quickly as possible and get those samples into a somewhat structured and playable thing. In reality this means that usually I'll get distracted during the processing and start making something with the samples that are ready to go and have an ever growing collection of hours of yet to mine and mark as depleted recordings. But that's ok. I try to at least put stuff I make or record into folders with a descriptive name or add some tags so I could theoretically find something later.

Maybe people see you as approachable and unlikely to cause trouble so they feel they can confront you to either set an example or project some of their own personal bullshit onto you. Obviously this is their problem, but maybe try to look angry/pissed off or try to give an impression of being emotionally and mentally unstable. Try to channel any kind of weird energy or unpleasantness you have in you so people don't feel so comfortable around you.
