Thank you @MIXL2. I will check both tracks out. Do you know of any other?
@KovalainenFanBoy this is actually less about being a theorist. BoC themselves spoke about using maths in their music quite a few times. Since I am neither a mathematician nor a musician, I just want to figure out where I can actually hear this.
BOC repeatedly mentioned that sometimes they compose melodies or enture tracks using the Fibonacci sequence or fractals or other mathematical frameworks.
I've been researching for some examples on this in their music but couldn't find anything yet. I know that some tracks / albums follow a very symmetric design, i.e. a palindrome. But in regards to Fibonacci and fractals I can't it in their music.
Can you name a few examples?
Just in time, a Records Revisited for Chiastic Slide out on HHV Mag: https://www.hhv-mag.com/en/feature/11913/records-revisited-autechre-chiastic-slide-1997
Love the releases. Hate the prices. 49 € for Accelerator? 37 € for We Have explosive? Come on! Are they starting directly with Discogs prices nowadays?
37 € for the vinyl? I hate RSD with all my heart.
Apart from that the tracks are ok but unnecessary. The originals are perfect and Lifeforms was re-released some years ago.
My last Autechre review, like... ever

And tonight I will listen to NTS 3 & 4 for the first time and it will be from vinyl. Cumshots ahead.
I totally relate to that. I decided to not download sessions 3 & 4 and wait until I receive the 12 LP box. I want to listen to them first time on vinyl.
Are there any ideas, what hardware / software they used for the sessions? Without knowing much about the technological side of electronic music, my first guess was modular system...
They used a programming environment called MaxMSP which allows them to design their own instruments virtually. So hardware was only computers and maybe some controllers they connected to their MaxMSP patchesThanks. I have to admit I thought they had moved on from MaxMSP. Don't ask for me a reason though...

If you want to get an overview of his output, check my all-µZiq megamix I did for the last year's anniversary of his debut album:
Apart from that, Lunatic Harness is just brilliant!
I knew I could count on appropriate replies at Watmm :)
Thing is, so far Aphex has always changed with every release. If he is now - after 13 years of Aphex Twin hiatus - is coming with the same stuff he has released a few years ago, it's pretty lame to me. E.g. I wouldn't want another ICBYD today. I wanted it in 1995, yes and still love it, yes. But not having a follow-up of it.
