  1. So either the whole stuff jasondonervan has come up with is part of the great marketing campaign by Warp incl. taking the piss of Watmmers. Or Syro will be just a luck-warm follow-up to Analord and The Tuss.
  2. Back in 1995 I sometimes played this tune for hours and hours. It was drugs for me.
  3. I somehow can't imagine that Aphex will release some old worn out tracks for a new album. I mean, he has declined several times to actually release or re-release his old stuff simply because he might be bored too easily by it.
  4. Who's to say the original DATs weren't full of noise and compression issues ? Bear in mind they were sent to Rephlex for their approval before being released This is most likely the case, seeing how all the older AFX albums were delivered. There's even a picture of a collection of DAT's that ZoeB recently posted here that I think contained one of the CAT023 tracks, dating from the very early 90's (maybe late 80's). If you are this disturbed by surface noise on a 20 year old Caustic Window record (you know, the most raw and abrasive project by RDJ) you seriously need to reconsider your taste in music and just go buy German minimal techhouse records But besides the whole audiophile discussion, wasn't it decided to leave the CWLP without post-production because they wanted the rip to be exactly like how it would sound on a turntable? That was also what was communicated by Joyrex if I'm not mistaken. And even more important: RDJ approved this rip. I hate German Minimal Techhouse. Could never be arsed about it. So my taste it not to be discussed here.
  5. Who's to say the original DATs weren't full of noise and compression issues ? Bear in mind they were sent to Rephlex for their approval before being released Well, of course we don't know that, do we? But it could also be that the vinyl copy was only VG in condition, so a better outcome wasn't possible. Nonetheless, I expected better quality from the offering / advertisement we got. Btw, I still love the album and appreciate Joyrex's efforts in getting it started.
  6. Damn, was actually pretty close! http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/19574-aphex-twin-caustic-window/ I nearly fell asleep during the introduction of this review. And what is this "In addition to functional dance music..." and "neo-trip-hop “Jazzphase”"? Neo-Trip-Hop in 1994? Let's keep it short and simple: http://www.hhv-mag.com/de/review/6667/caustic-window-caustic-window-lp
  7. Well, he's actually quite right. The quality of the rip we got is far from pristine and high. In particular the first to tracks contain loads of surface noise. Some extra mastering / post production would have been good. I expected better than that.
  8. Just 3 tracks in and... whoa! Sure, as mentioned above, it's nothing special from today's perspective. But listening to it like I just got it from my record store back in 1995, this is a fucking amazing treat I got here.
  9. I'm giving the campaign some promotion: http://www.hhv-mag.com/de/new/6362/aphex-twin-kickstarter-kampagne-fur-caustic-window-platte
  10. Mary Robinson - Gripping Doune. Pretty interesting autobiographical read that puts many fears we have nowadays into perspective.
  11. You mentioned that you are exclusively at Warp and that you can't release anywhere else even under different aliases or solo (except for Gescom). This sounds like a pretty tough record deal. This raises a few questions for me. Are you happy with it and do you sometimes wish you had signed a different deal (less secure maybe but more freedom of exposure)? When did you sign that deal & why was it the deal of choice at that time? Would you do it differently nowadays?
  12. yeah sometimes we have to talk each other into using each other's tracks. like, it's always me trying to talk rob into including one of his tracks, or vice versa. almost never happens the other way round What's the reason for this direction? This sounds like you are not very sure about your own creations so you need positive confirmation from the other.
  13. There is a quite interesting book by Jan St. Werner (of Mouse On Mars) & Klaus Sander from 2006 called "Vorgemischte Welten" (Pre-mixed / Prepared Worlds) where they discuss about music composition / innovation etc in the age of Ableton & Co where you can basically build an entire discography on preset sounds and beats only - like cooking with deep-frozen food. Their argument is that this sort of preset-based production has killed innovation in music and simply interesting music. Would you agree with that? And have you ever tried to work with presets of plugins / softwares only (and achieved anything satisfying)?
  14. yeah ok Yeah, they actually have a pretty neat sound system. But they just push everything to the limits so it's all over the place. And moreover, the audience is not there for the artists but for being at Berghain. Just a trendy (even if cool), tourist location. Quite a pity because the venue itself is great.
  15. The collab with The Hafler Trio is pretty different to your Ae stuff. What's the main idea / philosophy behind this collab?
  16. Packaging-wise it's like the antithesis of Exai: slim sleeve and NO DOWNLOAD CODE! WTF? Though the sleeve feels like it should either fit into the Exai box or is part of another future release with a 5 more EPs and a great glossy box, yeah!
  17. There is a new Swamp Thing? It's not by Alan Moore, is it?
  18. tac Lacora is a massive headfuck, simple as that. Sound bytes are flying around and crash in your ear all over the place. The moment at 3:30 is just pure deep throat impact.
  19. Donato Dozzy - Playing Bee Mask Clear Soul Forces - Gold PP7s v.a. - Bosporus Bridges Ghostpoet - Some Say I So I Say Light Bill Callahan - Dream River Digable Planets - Blowout Comb Autechre - Anti EP Autechre - Garbage EP Bee Mask - Vaporware Tomás Dvórak - Machinarium OST
  20. Celebrating µ-Ziq's 20th anniversary

  21. Better ask me what I don*t have: Cavity Job EP We R Are Why... EP Quaristice.Quadrange.EP Apart from that all on vinyl except the second EP after Quaristice (mp3 only). Plus the 3 CDs / DVDs with Hafler Trio. Plus everything from Gescom on vinyl (I think) except the MiniDisc (as CD rerelease) which I had sold a while ago.
