  1. I'm too embarrassed to say how many hours I've put into the System Shock remake. I'm pleased with it overall, but it does have a tendency to get monotonous, particularly later in the game. And yeah, it does have a pretty dumb ending, especially that song that plays right before the credits roll. I guess the main replay value I've found with it is changing up the Hacker's weapons loadout. The Laser Rapier, Magnum 2100, & Skorpion SMG are my keepers every time. Shotty is good for mid-game and AR is decent for late game, but kind of mediocre overall. Hell, you could probably smite most baddies with just the not-Lightsaber and loads of Berserk patches, depending on your preferred strategy.
  2. Just got done listening to the Hague gig. AE update your _STORE later this year pls. I'm hungry for more sets.

    Dune

It's already been a month since I've seen Pt 2. I don't think I have much to add that hasn't already been said. But it definitely felt like things were heating up at this point in the Dune saga. I particularly liked the opening scene where the Harkonnen troops were patrolling the sands of Arrakis and they were getting picked off by Fremen snipers, followed by Chani taking out one of their thopters with Paul's assistance. And the fate of Vlad Harkonnen right after the arrival of the Emperor...I don't wanna spoil it outright, but I found it darkly amusing. Still gotta read the 650+ page Dune book I got for my birthday last year. I probably wouldn't have gotten the interest I have in it now, were it not for Denis Villeneuve.
  4. ADACA on Zone Patrol rn. Campaign already completed. Pretty impressive overall for a one-person studio - definitely recommend to fans of Half-Life and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. Bought Dead Space 2 recently on sale for dirt cheap but haven't played yet. Only played the remake of the first game, which is still good. Although generally not into zombie games, Dying Light seems appealing lately. Might buy when it goes on sale. System Shock remake gets a patch update next week, with main focus on revamped final stage, plus option to play as female Hacker. Also still waiting for Fallout: London to drop on the 23rd.
  5. This is more or less a soft announcement. Not worth starting a thread over I think. Anyway, I've been contemplating this for at least the past week or so, but...pretty sure this is going to be my last post, at least for a while. That is to say, I plan to start an indefinite internet hermitage/sabbatical tomorrow. No FB, no YT, no Reddit, no X...not even WATMM. Nothing that involves public online interaction of any kind. It's reached the point where today's internet mainstream is becoming mentally untenable for me. And I need to withdraw just to clear my mind. So it's down to basics - email, online banking & shopping, and news. And probably the occasional food recipe hunting. But that's it. That'll be the extent of my internet usage for the foreseeable future. May the Dank Memes continue...with or without me. But I shall return one day.
  6. I haven't gotten far enough into Starfield yet to find out if you can visit binary star systems (like in No Man's Sky), but if so, Paralel Suns would be perfect..
  7. Koyaanisqatsi is a recurring theme in the back of my mind - the only intrusive thought I consider welcome.
  8. Never thought I'd own one, but I now have my first dakimakura.
  9. The current Russian army has to be the most fucked up military in the history of the 21st Century.
  10. TBH I never bothered much with secondary attack modes, as I never really found them useful. Except for maybe the Ripper.

    AE_Live 2022

After getting thru all the 2022 sets, London B is the standout one for me. Especially the final 10 minutes or so...slightly reminiscent of Weissensee but much more...mature. I hope their next LP/EP/whatever includes a track derived from this particular bit.
  12. Yeah overall I'm hooked. Granted it feels like it takes shortcuts when it comes to space travel, but that's coming from years of me playing No Man's Sky. But it's overwhelming how much there is to explore. As for all the hate it's getting, seems like it's mostly coming from the usual suspects - salty gamers who've likely never held a full-time job or had to pay their own bills, and/or 4chan schizos. Most them likely have never touched the game.
  13. AFAIK, the borger is an acknowledgement of dankness, whereas Schopenhauer is synonymous with "big brain time" or something. Dankness in itself is difficult to adequately define in words though. But it generally involves memes of a surreal, absurd, and/or satirical nature.
  14. Just started Starfield. 4 hours in so far. Was worried at first whether my PC would run it at all. Not only did it run, but performance surpassed my expectations. As for gameplay, it's about what you'd expect from a Bethesda title. But in this case I mean it in a good way.
  15. From what I hear it's about what fans of previous BGS titles (i.e. TES & Fallout) would expect - pretty much the same combat style, as well as exploration & loot mechanics. But supposedly fast-travelling between planets involves cutscenes, unlike the seamless entry & exit of planetary atmospheres from No Man's Sky. Supposedly inventory management can be a pain, too. But if we enjoyed FO4, then we should also enjoy Starfield. That's about all I know though. I guess I could have upgraded to premium edition for early access or whatever, but I don't think it's worth the extra money when we could just wait literally a couple of more days til official launch. Besides, I'm nearing the end of my current Fallout: New Vegas run.
  16. FL Studio...my primary music tool for the past two decades. So far I'm liking v21 and some of the newer plugins, like Sawer, Sakura, Toxic Biohazard, and Harmor. But I can't help but feel a sense of loss from the fact that WASP and WASP XT are no longer available. Even after all this time, I don't think I'll ever fully master this DAW. But I will say that Piano Roll makes sequencing an absolute breeze.
  17. Not to shabby. I've known about him since the Merck days. This is the first time I've heard anything from him since 2016 (Human Energy, I think). To me it seems like he's always conflicted between trying to appeal to a wider audience and doing his own thing. I'm hoping he'll do more of the latter from here on out.
  18. My latest dream was early this morning. In my subconscious head-canon, it was a sequel to Prey 2017, but set farther into the future in deep space. I boarded some huge derelict space ship, but I can't remember if I was alone. But for some reason everything was bright and lit-up, yellow-ish orange. I think it was supposed to be like a space luxury cruise ship, but all the crew appeared infected by some alien virus and were therefore mutated and hostile. Then I got to the "final boss", which was some kind of huge bluish-green floating blob that had the infected crew tethered to it, and I shot it with what was a latest-gen Q-Beam (in Prey context). But before I could finish the fight, my fucking morning alarm went off. Srsly tho, how cool would a Prey sequel be where you can raid derelict vessels in deep space...
  19. Hell yeah. I already pre-ordered. But faced with a dilemma - whether to pay an extra $30 for early access so I can play over my four-day weekend, or just wait one more week for official launch... True, true.
  20. To be fair it's pre-alpha footage. Nightdive haven't let me down so far, especially after they finally dropped the System Shock remake three months ago. If they can successfully implement free look/aim, that'll already be one major hurdle cleared over the original, which currently feels like operating a forklift just to look up or down. (Granted this was back in 1995, and the Jedi engine was actually a reverse-engineered classic Doom engine, but still.)
  21. Just returned home early this morning after being in Las Vegas all last week. It's about the money pit I expected. Thankfully I'm not broke. Overstimulation is rampant. Bright lights and music blaring almost everywhere. I did get to fire a multitude of fully automatic weapons at the gun range though, not to mention a Russian sniper rifle and a grenade launcher. That was neat.
