Damn. I honestly don't know that much about him, but I remember his music vids appearing frequently on MTV AMP back in the late 90s. Will have to check out more of his work as a posthumous tribute. 坂本さん安らかに眠れ (RIP)

Finally got around to the new RE4. Just completed Chapter 1. Pretty impressed with what Capcom's done so far. Feels like they went for a darker tone in the remake. Controls are smoother too, and the enemies move and behave more natural-like and fluid. I appreciate the fact that you can perform stealth takedowns now as well. And there's some new surprises thrown in, including a new enemy type in the farm area with the blue medallions. And I couldn't help but clap at the iconic church bell scene, along with Leon repeating the original "bingo" line.

I can kinda relate to this. Not sure how reliable my advice would be here, but I find it helps sometimes to jam out/take a freeform approach on some piece of hardware (or even acoustic instrument) and go completely impromptu. Doesn't have to be recorded. Then when you naturally feel some tune that comes to mind, that's when you finally get something that sticks. It's almost a nebular approach in this sense. For example, two years ago I'd just randomly be on the couch, playing around on my Korg Minilogue xd, then once I come up with a melody or some semblance of looped structure, then I'd be like "damn, I could do something with this." Then just keep practicing that same melody until I have it memorized, then apply it to my compositions in FL Studio. Pretty much what I did with my latest complete work. You don't want it to become a chore though, or something that has to be crossed off your to-do list or whatever. It's something that has to flow naturally, as cliche as this might sound. It can actually be quite therapeutic/zen-like if you're not concerned about any kind of game plan. More or less like starting off an empty paint canvas like Bob Ross. Like I said though, this is just my take based on experience. You do what works best for you.

I finally tested negative for COVID this morning. Ironic though that I didn't get a confirmed infection until three years after the first big lockdown in early 2020. And congrats Squee on your soon-to-be parenthood.

I'd probably keep a plasma rifle in the 40kw range and sawed-off Winchester 1887 handy just in case - preferably one that can be wielded one-handed. Bonus points for sunglasses and biker jacket.

Have her ditch the lipstick and throw a beard on her and she could be on the next Aphex album cover.

Although I've never worked in a restaurant, I can kinda see where you're coming from. Hell, I lived with a bunch of Japanese dudes back in college, when I was in Hokkaido. Needless to say, the guy you speak of sounds like a real shit stain. Were I in your vicinity, I'd offer to lend a hand with your...problem.

Saw a mouse scurrying in my home this morning for the first time in over two years. I already got rid of the traps, thinking I wouldn't need them anymore. Plus, they don't always work as intended. So I figured my Roomba would be the next best thing. I'm hoping the mice see it as some menacing robotic behemoth of a predator trying to sniff them out, when it's actually just vacuuming & sucking up dust.

Metroid Fusion is available on Switch now? Fuck yeah. Haven't used my Switch in a while, but hopefully they add Zero Mission also at some point, if they haven't already.

Finally beat Atomic Heart, after 30+ hours. I think at least a third of that I spent on finding all of the Testing Grounds so I could unlock all of the weapon upgrades. Not sure how I feel about the ending. I guess after the big denouement we can deduce that Agent P-3 is an example of a tragic hero, and that there's a legit reason for his ongoing anger issues. But there are also bigger themes at play. In a way I think the game itself is intended as a satire, not just of capitalism and communism equally, but humanity as a whole and a cautionary tale based on current trends. Other than that, I think the only spoiler I'd reveal is that there's a very deliberate nod to Bioshock. Overall though I genuinely think this ended up being a good game. RE4 remake drops in less than two weeks. So I might jump back into the Dead Space remake in the meantime with a New Game +. EDIT: Damn it feels good to get back into the new Dead Space. After the convoluted and tedious nature of Atomic Heart, it feels like a breath of fresh air. I dunno, gameplay just feels much more streamlined and straightforward. Plus it's always satisfying stomping the shit out of enemy corpses. Already acquired the military RIG/suit by the end of the first chapter too (on plus playthrough)

17 hours into Atomic Heart now. Turns out this is a huge game - not just in terms of file size (72 G according to Steam), but also in the overall map layout and architectural design. No idea how much progress I've made in terms of main storyline, whether I'm in the middle, or close to the end, etc. Pretty much have every weapon unlocked now. I've noticed that most weapons in this game can't simply be acquired, but rather you find the blueprints, and then gather enough materials to craft them. Ammo was relatively scarce in the beginning, but somehow I've managed to rack up a surplus of Makarov, shotgun, & AK ammo. Still relying heavily on melee combat though, and then the Dominator (which is like Doom's Plasma Rifle & BFG in one) for robotic crowd control. Also was finally able to fabricate the apex melee weapon - the Zvezdochka (apparently means "star" according to Google translate). The "uppercut" ability on the Zvez is borderline OP. Made it to the Theater. Getting strong Bioshock vibes there, especially from Fort Frolic district. Probably not a coincidence. Overall though I ended up getting way more immersed in this game than I thought I would. P-3 still needs to calm the fuck down with the edgy dialogue though. I feel like he'd be much more likeable if he showed more restraint, like Isaac in the new Dead Space. One of the ballerina bots in the Theater actually made a valid observation too: "You've been without a woman for far too long, Major."
