underworld by don delillo atm. his writing style isn't interesting and i think the book's subject matter caters to baby boomers. otherwise good and readable so far, something you can just pass your eyes over and grasp immediately

Monitors really bother my ears due to my tinnitus and (what I think is) ETD. Something to do with the proximity of near field monitors even at low volume. I had to return a pair recently

i like how it blows side A completely out of the water, its almost funny how you get this simple block building almost lazy track compared to this immense tangled machine of side b the remix destroys those cheesy weird vocal pads used in the original mix which is good. at first i didnt like the lack of linear rhythm, but that doesnt matter... not a head nodder but thats def not the point and is preferable to the lazy beat construction of (almost) everything thats not ae

I can't find exactly what The Foundation used data-wise to feed into the "psychohistorical equations." But iirc it was made up of population data. PRISM and w/e other giant government databases seem like the perfect way to derive statistical information that can predict things.

I think with so much surveillance data being gathered and stored by the world governments, they will eventually be able to use it to predict the future like in Asimov's psychohistory concept

i'm reading the Shadow & Claw omnibus. found via a chatroom recommendation a few years ago it's one of the best i've read in the genre. before this, I read A Game of Thrones, and tbh I prefer Shadow & Claw. everything is better, including the prose im going to try and tackle A Song of Ice and Fire after this series. i've invested enough time in the first book, and tv series to not find out what happens

murakami has this certain feeling of dread permeating through parts of his books. the feelings get intense during the more surreal / dreamlike parts (the bottom of the well / dream hotel scenes come to mind in wind-up bird). his plots seem very direct and simplistic at first, but that adds to the atmosphere of wrongness. or something.

gravity's rainbow im debating on just reading everything at normal speed and letting the references and subtleties fly over my head. i have "a gravity's rainbow companion," which is helpful but time consuming

the new skyrim dlc came out on pc yesterday. i finished the main quest in about 4 hours. atm i'm about to explore solstheim (the new landmass) and work on side quests. i ran into a near show stopping bug, but i think it's been patched since last night
