Thanks for the post!
I always forget about these things. The times I preordered something and never got around to DL it and listen to it. F. Really hate pre-orders because of it. Am I supposed to remember everything I bought and when it is supposed to be released? FU! I paid. Gimme them tunes already. Hopefully pre-orders are a done deal when everyone wisens up about the physical format nonsense. Ooooo but I wanna own stuff and design and shit....bleh. Yeah right. Want to save the planet? Stop buying in to that nonsense please. kthxbyerant
Time for my morning coffee!

Guessing we're saying similar things. Meshes point, or rather frustrations if you will, about dichotomies. Your point about the lack of nuance. And mine about rigid thinking, or perhaps seeing things only in black or white. Thats all about the compass pointing towards the north, if you know what I mean.

I assumed pensions are a collective investment, btw. Especially in western (capitalist) countries. But I suppose that could differ from countries to countries.
But the whole notion of capitalism is a bit rubbish, imo. One Corona pandemic and the most extreme capitalists are shouting for anti capitalist solutions. There's a difference between societies behaving in a capitalist way and societies being capitalist. It appears it mostly depends on the context. It looks to me the average western capitalist society can flip in an instant to a centralized model. And back again, of course. If the situation allows it. Also interesting to see how debt suddenly becomes a non-issue. Good to see lives matter more when things become urgent.

Read some research about psychological disorders being more prevalent in people at the political extremes. One of the key features in extremist psychology is rigidity and the inability to look at things from a different perspective.
So, in others words, it's not just about what you believe, it's also - or rather more - about how you believe.

Whose pension?
Mine! You do you.
So I was wondering, if everyone in a counrty has a pension and a right to one, would that stop people from being capitalist bootlickers? I need to know in case I come across an anti-capitalist edgelord without making an ass of myself.
thx

@Brisbot Simple: compare the absolute number of deaths in this period to years before in the same period. Regardless of cause of death. The impact of Corona will be painfully clear.
And to be perfectly honest, it's a bit apples and oranges to compare the US with, say, individual countries in Europe. It's better to do per capita. And that leaves the China thing, I guess. But again, it's a fairly straightforward analysis to compare all deaths regardless of cause to the historic average in that region. If you don't believe the official covid-death numbers, that is.
When you compare "per capita" the US currently isn't the worst at all, btw. But, this doesn't tell the whole story either, as the statistics aren't stable. Each region is in a different phase of the corona-cycle.
And the comparison with China isn't fair either. As China had to deal with a single starting point. The US had to deal with multiple starting points.

Not sure what he means with America First, btw. Most deaths? If so, yeah Trump is doing a superb job! Although, by withdrawing funding for the WHO, he makes it more difficult for himself to win the most deaths contest. It makes the coordination for the development of vaccines and cures so much harder.

beautiful track. sounds like an ode to his dad.

Oh wow how convenient for all the anti-Biden stuff to be finally going mainstream NOW.
I expect this to get worse. And worse. And worse. To the point you think Biden, Weinstein, Epstein, Cosby and Clinton are one and the same. And it's mostly bullshit, of course. But hey, the idea is to flood the media cycle with bullshit. The more the better. Even if people don't believe it, they'll probably grow cynical and turn off anyways. The amount of bullshit will be so awful, it stops mattering. The entire election, that is. Call it strategy.

And edgelord centrist worm heads too I guess. Everybody is dumb except wherever you are.
I was thinking he meant the edgelord who made it. Not the edgelords in the graph. The meta edgelord, so to speak.

they think their semi autos will stop an f22 raptor from carpet bombing their ranch
We should do an experiment!
Working hypothesis: their semi autos will stop an F22 from carpet bombing their ranch
Expected outcomes:
> 95% of ranches completely destroyed
< 50% F22 with visible damage; < 1% crashed F22s
;D
edit: and we should repeat it with drones, btw. just to compare results

The progressive movement is pretty much fucked if Trump wins.
Disagree here. Contrary will happen, imo. If Trump wins, there will be more polarisation. And more polarisation means more people moving towards the extremes. Left and right.
The AOC interview that appeared in the NYT last week (I believe) was pretty good, imo. Was mostly about where she was politically now that Sanders is out and Biden is the official Dem candidate. From what I can tell, she knows pretty well how to play the political game. Given het age and background, I think that's way better than you'd normally expect.
I'd like to add though that I can also understand peoples reservations wrt to her. But hey, that's the human condition, right?
If she's got 15 years of political experience under her wings, she's ready to go for the white house, imo. Regardless of her political views, btw.

Hmmm. I see a problem and a bit of COVID-19 might be the perfect solution. White guys with grey hair and overweight, yeah.... should work wonders.

Been in Taiwan about 15 years ago. Despite political tensions with China, the country itself seems perfectly free and safe. If you'd be ignorant about those political tensions, you'd hardly notice anything off.

thank you donald trump, for giving me money directly from of your own pocket so I will vote for you.
What does it say on your back account? "VOTE TRUMP 2020" ?

That's where I'd put my money.
But coming back to the earlier discussion: this election the VP choice might be more important than ever. Seeing both are some of the oldest since "ever".

Why not?
From VP to P is OK, but the reverse wouldn't be?
-
Well, if he's making existing problems worse because he wants to save his own skin, I think "we" need to be watchful. Especially when the "adults in the room" weren't able to talk the WHO defunding out of his head. That idiot wants to defund an agency right in the middle of a crisis. Fuckwit.

Obama running as VP maybe?

Biden will have a few great brain farts on the debate stage and you got your Next 4 years of Trump. Of all the people out there a 78 year old Biden?
If Trump can win with brainfarting his ass through the debates, so can Biden.

When forced to wear masks, I'll be looking at coffee filters. Or those antifa scarfs.
It'll be a sign of desperation though. When governments are going to force people to wear masks. But whatever.
