  1. I think some of the tracks are exceptional..does it flow as an album? perhaps not but that is just Jenks..the dancey numbers are up there with his best, a few slow pearl jam numbers chucked in, he's doing it as he knows how and I applaud from afar. Favourites? Domelash & Akkranen

Disagree completely. Masterful filmmaking. Just got out of the theater and was riveted. The score alone knocked me out.
Not sure which room you’re talking about, btw.

It's a fine film, the score is used sparingly, not a lot happens and I know that they want to showcase mundanity in nazi power.. to see these monsters as they are. I'm torn, just seemed a tad too smug. The White Ribbon is a favourite of mine and did it a bit better in my opinion

    the exorcist.

    directors cut, cinema rerelease.

i’ve seen a handful of classics restored and on a big screen like this. reading the intent,  successes and failures is far easier. completely different impression of so many aspects of the films. makes a mockery of watching films any other way.

the shock here is probably relative to what had been around through the mainstream in the decades prior. it’s reputation now is in how huge the crowds and cultural impact were at the time. in reality, the exorcism is quite naively done, but still works well even if you’ve picked up on how it was executed or see the make-up as now very obvious. the sound mix appears to be amongst the stuff fiddled with over time, which is in places helpful for a bigger feel than what is on screen mostly gives, and others too obviously modern. the momentary cgi stuff is the worst of it.

the film is quite modest in budget, even compared to other contemporary studio stuff from the time using real locations and few effects or studio sets, with far better filmmaking from friedkin in the years after. lots of interesting pointers to ideas placing science against religion and vice versa. there aren’t probably as many good central ideas or nuance to his stories elsewhere, but far better construction and acting across the overall cast. a few great ones here, mostly from individuals, rarely from characters interacting with each other - a real mixed bag. on the whole, still great, but not a film to accept the reputation as a classic above going in with fresh eyes of your own and trying to find what you see in the details.

Such a bizarre, misconceived, badly worded, muddled post, I'm not going to dig through all the flaws in it I'll just touch on the fact that 3/4 of it was filmed in a studio

what's your favorite aphex story @Schlitze :aphexsign:

It was in April 2006, diatoms. Glasgow. The place is a ballroom with a big stage more used to orchestra's, pop and cock rock.  Not ideally suited to a guy sitting playing tracks on a laptop. Wolf Eyes and The Bug were the opening acts. AFX style music started at about 10.30 but he was nowhere to be seen on stage, then a guy appeared and started clapping the crowd to fire them up, it looked like R. James but with short hair.. at the time i thought it was AFX but I'm now convinced it was a lookalike. At some point the man did appear, hunched at the back of the stage, almost unseen to the naked eye, fiddling around with his laptop, very shy

With nothing much to look at on stage i grabbed a pint of Tennent's from the bar and moved to back of the crowd with the beret wearing chin strokers. They were so passive, a completely different vibe from the gadgies at the front. Up until that point it had been a fairly straightforward set..very loud but cordial..I  remember he dropped Ae's LCC, the light show intensified and he ramped it up a notch with the screeching sounds and distortion.

It was then i saw a guys face melt off.

Under the glow of the flashing lights i could see this emaciated guy, eyes bulging, sweating profusely and his skin was just falling away from his face like his outer body couldn't stand the BPM and his skeleton just wanted to break free from those shackles. The room went dark and the drop kicked and i was looking around. Gig ended, lights went on, all these sweaty faces, audience applause and muttering..I'm looking around to see where this guy is..nowhere to be seen..i don't mention it, who would believe it? Then just as i'm heading down the stairs i glance round and see the sillouette of a skeleton dancing at the back of the ballroom

  5. With cruising for burgers and cern at loggerheads lets look at this panoramic image ive been trying slaving over for the last hour, 3 or 4 images merged into widescreen by AI

    Panorama.png

A beautiful image, though incomplete. There are pieces of the jigsaw missing.

I can go back to the location and lean over the balcony and fill in the blanks.

I can get the missing shrubbery and sky from google images and paste it in.

I can do a little copy and paste job in photoshop from the existing image, probably unnoticeable to the untrained eye.

Theoretically only the first option will keep the image authentic.
