  1. Is it possible to set which step a sequence starts playback from? I have got into a rather annoying habit of sometimes making loops where my '1' is actually step 9 or whatever and it's annoying as fuck when I'm trying to record stuff that I'm starting my loop early so to speak.
  2. dunno if this'll work as it's only on spotify but here it is
  3. Yeah someone in the DFAM thread on gearslutz put a link up to someone selling Moog-like knobs that you could fit onto the DFAM. Makes such a difference imo because as you say, the tiny ones that are there for pitch and velocity were a right ballache to deal with. And cheers for the kind words guys!
  4. Yeah I built some of my previous one, but when I moved to Germany I had to get rid of it. It's definitely tempting to maybe design something myself tailored to what I need, but I think this..... ...might be the best option.
  5. I moved into my new flat almost 18 months ago and I've been so slack sorting things out but it's pretty much there now. A month or so ago I got some acoustic panels free from work. Bought some thin felt and wrapped them cause they looked like shit. Also bought a diffuser the other day. I'm never gonna get it perfect because a) I live here b) the room is an openplay kitchen/living room and c) I effectively have two listening spots - where I DJ and where I compose. So I'm just looking to make sure it sounds fairly even across the board. Final mixing I do in the studio at work. But in general it's sounding pretty sweet - I just have a problem with slapback from the two blank walls at the kitchen end (behind where I took the pics basically). At some point I might buy a couple more diffusers for the kitchen, but right now I need to get a couple more pictures framed and up on the wall. \
  6. Where do you lot buy your studio furniture from? I need a new desk that has a keyboard (as in for typing) tray. I use hardware but not being able to edit audio without having to move shit is driving me up the fucking wall. Thinking maybe just a normal computer desk.... I have separate speaker stands and I don't really need extra levels on the top segment either.
  7. I've only seen a few videos of the Model:Cycles but what I have seen I really enjoyed. Same with the Model:Samples. Fact is, not everyone wants to spend half their time menu diving on a system that needs you to chuck anywhere upto €1500 at it and that can takes years to master. Plus they look like good stepping stones if you're just starting too. I didn't enjoy my A4 anywhere near as much until I got my hands on the Digitakt and became a little less overwhelmed with the whole thing.
  8. is this a negative or positive comment? I have a BSP and I really like it but sometimes the lack of keyboard and sequencing options is annoying. Ultimately I just don't have enough external synths that require sequencing but if I did I'd be all over this for €400.
  9. Plus he's a bloody nice guy and a fucking huge autechre fan so gets a pass in my book.
  10. Actually I fucked that up, the tails are only there on bypass kills, but even so, pretty powerful.
  11. After pissing about for ages I finally got round to hooking up my Digitakt to the Big Sky via midi so I can step sequence the Big Sky. It's so fucking good, especially being able to toggle the tails on and off when changing presets throughout a pattern. This just opened up the pedal about ten fold for me.
  12. We're currently trying to recable our main studio at work as we've changed the setup over the past few years and it can only be described as an absolute fucking ballache. Literally pulling out cables that are attached to fucking nothing. At some point we're probably going to rip everything out and just wire up the whole studio again. The result will be pornographic and immensely satisfying but the thought of actually doing it makes me wants to cry.
  13. This is what I have and it's fucking immense. Worth every penny and to be honest I've delved into about 20% of it.
  14. Yeah one of my mate's biggest gripes was how Cassidy was portrayed cause I think he's a massive joker but I get the impression that's not the case in the graphic novel *small sick in mouth at calling them that* Gesendet von meinem SM-A320FL mit Tapatalk
  15. Preacher seems to be one of those shows that is great is you are an idiot and know nothing of the original content (i.e. me), and fucking terrible if you do.
  16. I bought a pair of the JBL LSR 305's for my DJ set up after some recommendations on here and I'm pretty impressed with them, I wouldn't really have any objection to making tunes with them. Think there's a new model now so you might be able to pick these up cheap. Not sure of the exact exchange rate but I bought mine new for under €250.
  17. I'll make a customary post defending the Adams. I have a pair of the A7x's and my mixes became so much better, particularly in the low mids, I do find them nice and clear and if you've got them in a nice sounding room then I actually don't find them too punishing, though I do try to make sure I take regular breaks.
  18. It arrived today. Holy fuck I'm in love. Even just letting the base patterns run and going through the shorter manual and fucking with everything has already bought so much fun. My first Elektron was the A4 and to be honest it felt a little overwhelming at times; the complexity was a little to daunting. This is way more immediate yet still hints at how complex it can be. Now to go through my collection of old hardware samples and to decide what to load on this thing.
  19. Now that you've said that it occurs to me that I only ever use a low pass filter ? So thankfully I think I'll be alright in that regard.
  20. I'm also hoping that the real time sampling and sequencing element is pretty quick and painless as that is likely to be its main use.
  21. Well, I finally caved and ordered one. I just need an external sampler so badly and it seems like the options to then make crazy patterns and layer sequences together is perfect for the way I like to build my beats. Maybe this will finally help me get my head around elektron menus / kits/ sounds ?
  22. I've used the A&H Mix Wizard 14:4:2 on a daily basis for a couple of years and found it to be pretty durable and reliable. Can't really think of too many issues and the sound is relatively transparent. If you can get it for a decent price and it's in good nick then it should hold up for a long time. 23. Pretty good for 8quid. :) At permanent 200ms, this conversion chart could be useful for picking bpms: http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-bpmtempotime.htm Haha I use the exact same website to quickly set release times when I'm mixing.
  24. A mate at work pointed me in the direction of this widening tool the other day, which I found interesting as it also retains 100% mono compatability and will stay in phase. I've played with it a bit so far on a few stem busses. Pretty impressive amount of width. It could do with a volume knob integrated as it adds a considerable amount of gain to the whole thing, but considering it's free it's a nifty little tool. https://polyversemusic.com/products/wider/
  25. I live on the ground floor so whilst cool, I also suffer from ungodly amount of damp even in the 35 degree summer. I bought a dehumidifier over the winter. If I don't use it for a few days, even during the summer when it's not rained for 6 weeks, my hygrometer is up towards 70/75. I put it on when I go off to work, and come back and it's around 50. Admittedly it also means it's fairly hot due to it being a dehumidifier but you can really tell the difference and I'm hoping my gear appreciates it.
