  1. This is basically my opinion I might slightly extend it to include the cichlisuite EP That run of Chichlisuite -> LP5 -> EP7 -> PeelSession2(for Gelk!!!) -> Confield -> Gantz Graf *Chef's Kiss* There are some of their other albums I might put above LP5, and some other releases I'd rank above PeelSession2 as a whole. But I just find that stretch of time to be the absolute crystallization of everything they are best at, being executed with such perfection
  2. I may have been misinterpreting Sean’s meaning in that thread, but my understanding was that he was referring to the soundboards for the ‘16 and ‘18 live sets. Rob was working on his parts. And this worked out with the timing, as it was a few months later that those AE_live sets went up, seemingly after Rob finished his parts
  3. Nonsense. incomplete without wild record scratching (don’t care if the scratching is programmed as some have said). Honestly it’s not the drums underneath that I care about at all. I had seen most of these turntable competition vids already, and they don’t really fit what it is about this set that I like. I have also seen wavetwisters before, but as Im digging into to some of the other Qbert stuff I guess it does give me the feels I’m looking for. still, something about this gescom one just really does it for me.
  4. Can anyone recommend some great albums/tracks that would be similar to this scratch-tastic marathon? I know turntabalism is a pretty immense genre to explore, but this seems way more intense than most of what I’ve stumbled upon before
  5. Yea seems like some have caught that https://www.whosampled.com/sample/16589/Autechre-Sublimit-Sparky-Dee-The-Playgirls-The-Battle/
  6. Definitely one of my all time favs of theirs
  7. It’s near the bottom of page 24 I think
  8. This is probably a really good point if you could tell some of your favorite artists/songs, it may be easier to suggest songs which might click with you more
  9. I'm certain people will say I'm insane for leaving out <insert their favorite>, but I feel like these are the absolute "essentials": An Eagle In Your Mind Telephasic Workshop Music Is Math 1969 Alpha and Omega

    elseq 1-5

For years I had decided I didn't care for Eastre After maybe 2 listens I just opted to skip it, and for the past 4 years when going through elseq I would exclusively listen to mesh cinereaL when I got to elseq3. It was a huge issue I had with elseq; my inability to just listen through as i always felt there were tracks I had to skip to get to the gold level stuff But today after thinking about how I have been more than happy to live in the slow burns on NTS like e0, I went back and gave eastre a try I can't see what I didn't like about it. I thoroughly enjoyed the listen It obviously wasn't the length I took issue with, as there are longer tracks on elseq and NTS that I immediately liked.
  11. Just started listening the past few days. I find it a bit of a mixed bag. I disagree with the notion that they seem like they are only just getting into Ae. The last episode I listened to they discussed how they were grateful to have gotten into Ae before the days of streaming. One referenced maybe starting listening in 2006. So... while they may be newer to Autechre than myself and may others around here, I don't think they come off as uninitiated (on the surface) That being said, one of the early episodes they seemed like they were unsure if they should bother covering cichlisuite (they ended up covering it). But to even be on the fence about discussing that ep makes me doubt everything about them I also heard one of them refer to the era between Confield and Quaristice as one he struggled to get into the most. I hope for their sake the act of going through the discography for this podcast makes them re-evaluate some of the albums in that era I have yet to listen to their take on LP5 and EP7. I feel like that will be the defining moment for if I keep listening to them
  12. I’d take acoustic guitar jams just put something out after like 23,000 hours of new Ae since the last BOC, it’s just embarrassing. Do it or just throw in the towel
  13. the more I listen to this album, the more I really like it. I'm not sure I would put it in my top5 Ae releases, but it is really fucking good. In one of those interviews that was posted, Sandra mentioned M4 Lema started out with a more significant beat that really slammed. Then Ronette did his work and much of the beats were mixed down/out and it became a different thing. While I actually love the fact that this album is mostly beat-less, I do slightly long to hear the beat-slam version of M4 Lema. not that I dislike the version we got, but the implication of the beat is so tantalizing in that track, the thought of letting it all materialize into some massive beat is mouthwatering.
  14. On second listen now. This really is very good. Too early to say where I place it in their overall work. While the '16/'18 live stuff did certainly suggest a move away from insane beat-fuckery, there were still quite a few massive hard as hell beat-gauntlet tracks on NTS, so this still did come as a surprise turn to me. I'd be interested to know how those who didn't care for oversteps feel about this one. I'm not saying Oversteps and Sign are cut from the same cloth, and I definitely see them very differently. But still, I'd like to know what someone like Sweepstakes thinks of this one. (forgive me if this has already been shared)
  15. Hot damn this just came on as you said this
  16. First listen through now. Couldn’t catch the stream yesterday due to work. this is definitely lush as all fuck it will take time to decide my take on it. Definitely going to listen several more times.
  17. Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit loving dank Ae memes
  18. Top 10 facts based on memes we speculate
  19. Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue
  20. Yes, true. I should not neglect cichlisuite.
  21. Not-even-close-to-a-Hot take: all of Autechre’s best album covers are made by non-tDr ep7, Confield, Draft, Untilted chiastic and envane are tDr only high marks (exai is pretty ok too)
  22. Sean pls... don’t release the jams rob pls... release the lush pads
  23. I’ve seen plenty of your post about not liking Oversteps, and known everyone has different tastes (I’m underwhelmed by Quaristice as an album, but I know you like it, so how can I judge right?) and to be fair, I’m not bowled over by oversteps overall, and my enjoyment varies greatly from “I like this a lot” to “this is patchy but OK-ish” but one thing that has been a constant is that Treale is the absolute gem in this album, and the one track that always brings me back to the album. so.... I suppose I must just accept that whatever it is that draws us both to Autechre, we may have absolutely opposing taste. And I guess that’s ok
