    It's ok!

The more I listen to it, the more I'm convinced the Good Friday remix is the best one they've ever done. I love Broken Drum too but GF just hits all the right spots for me.

Agreed. Those horns!  Sadly this is one of the few remixes where an instrumental was never released.

A former school friend lives up near Berwick in the Scottish borders.  He is adamant that he has met one of the brothers as part of a hiking and twitching social group.  He's not a BoC or electronic music fan and only realised when a friend pointed out to him.  He can't remember which one it was, he seemed to think he was called Andy for some reason.  You can believe this if you want, but he's not one to make stuff up, he's a GP and quite a serious person.  Anyway, I mention this as it's perfectly possible that they just have different interests and priorities beyond music these days.

I know what hiking is but what is "twitching"?

hmm reddit isnt really a legitimate source for information like that though lol (not that watmm is but hey)

Reddit is no different than here.  Just a bunch of uninformed fans takes stabs in the dark!

It is odd though that this track hasn't been identified.  It doesn't strike me as some deep cut of library music so you'd think it would have been identified by now.

  4. Overall a great release.  I'm still surprised by my initial interpretation of Reach for the Dead when the single came out before the album.  At first I thought it was an ok, new BoC style track...and now I think it is truly one for the ages.  There's not many tracks that have blown me away like that one.

I'd rate this a solid 5 bags of buttered popcorn.

    Are you a #gregghead or a #timhead?

Also not sure if it's just me but it seems like the overall sound quality and recording/mastering is their best ever, the way all the layers of sound interact is phenomenal, there's some kind of extra richness in the synth chords, so many little details that build up in the background especially on headphones

But maybe I'm just not really listening I guess :)

I'm the opposite. TH sounds so flat to me when compared to Campfire Headphase or Geogaddi. Those two albums I can hear layer after layer but TH still isn't striking that chord with me. Go figure. It must be me because you're not the first person to make that observation.

  6. I just re-listened to TH in its entirety with some new speakers for the first time in ages, and I was blown away. I wasn't expecting to be blown away or even to make it all the way through the entire album - and I didn't have to 'try' to get into it. I was just sucked in, and the music seemed far more layered and detailed than I remembered it. Actually, it's interesting to me that I used to find the album too minimalistic in comparison to their previous works and somewhat sonically/musically tame, because during this listen many of the tracks came across as ridiculously detailed and full of clever nuances. The album's structure seemed pitched brilliantly and the atmosphere was wonderfully potent. I love it when albums 'click' like this!

I'm still waiting for this to happen. Just like you, when I listen to Geogaddi & Campfire Headphase, I hear layer upon layer upon layer of sonic beauty, yet when I listen to Tomorrow's Harvest, I'm just not getting that depth. It seems muddled and shallow to my ears. I'm sure it will hit me at some point too.

  7. They should have gotten Gerald Donald (Dopplereffekt/Arpanet/Der Zyklus) instead, think about it.

well, considering the film is gonna be pretty shit anyway, i don't think that would be a good idea.

i agree with you though, that if there were to be a good TRON sequel, Gerald Donald would have to do the score

You're basing this opinion off what? I take it you haven't seen the film.

  8. I'm hearing a sample from Yellow's "Oh Yeah" (the iconic 80's soundtrack song) in the opening seconds of Trademark Ribbons of Gold. It's that "booowww" sound.

There are literally dozens of other moments on this album that are triggering memories from my VHS watching days. The synth that hits at 2:41 on that same track is, I swear, from a crappy horror movie I've seen. Shit, this album is more nostalgic than any BoC I've listened to, and I only say that since the word "nostalgic" is constantly thrown around when referring to them.
