  1. Am I the only one one who read this as Untilted Cuttery? Photoshopportunity?
  2. Will check his EPs soon. Thanks for the recommendation. /agree. I'll see you when the sun sets east, don't forget me.
  3. Why the hate towards Actress? The last days I've been listening his three albums on Spotify repeatedly and I really like what I'm hearing. It's definitely a style on its own. Sounds fresh. Why comparing it to AE btw? I don't really see the connection. Other than that Actress mentions Autechre in interviews I agree; apples and oranges. Actress The way I approach music is much more from a sculptural perspective. You build algorithms. You can layer those algorithms so they become marble-like. Autechre do the complete opposite to what I do. You can see the axis, you can feel what they’re rotating around certain things. What I do is the same but I smudge it completely, so you can feel the axis but you can’t get that clarity of where it is. I like things to drip. There’s execution and there’s perfection and even though I’m a perfectionist I don’t like having something that’s so perfect you can’t see the flaws. You have to have a sense of there being a flaw in it, because essentially I’m human and I want a human aspect always to be there in my music. http://www.dazeddigital.com/music/article/13235/1/exclusive-actress-rip-film-interview And again, 30 second 128kbps previews dudes! Btw Obel or JR, can I just put the 30sec mp3-links here? cool so he admits he 'smudges it completely' the same facade all modern electronic shit 'abstract' producers do because they don't have real sound design skills so they have to absolutely soak the music and entire mixdown in shitty effects. Welcome to 2013 guys. At least when you're going to 'smudge' something , do it in an interesting way, not just turn all the dithering effects up to 11. Why the hate towards Actress? The last days I've been listening his three albums on Spotify repeatedly and I really like what I'm hearing. It's definitely a style on its own. Sounds fresh. Why comparing it to AE btw? I don't really see the connection. I don't hate him, but there is certainly something wrong with the level of worshipping of his releases from hip webzines up to specialist magazines like The Wire. I had listened to a lot of minimal techno and other non-idm electronic stuff back in 00's that had no attention from outside the scenes, and then Actress, sounding like complete and not always inspiring re-hash of those ideas, suddenly has unique style and fresh sound, talking about being opposite to Ae. A couple of years ago he also wrote on his twitter that AFX was god but current Zomby is probably better than AFX. wow, just wow. Most overhyped artist of 2012 easily, i guess this is what Terrence Mckenna meant by us reaching 'full novelty' his newest track sounds like he's doing flying lotus vs zomby (at their worst) through a fucking bit crusher, what the bloody hell has happened is my question. I'm not arguing with the fact that people get genuine emotional resonance from it... but are any actual music producers here in any way impressed by his sound? its interesting he would bring up Zomby because that's another artist who's amateur sound was mistaken by many as some kind of brilliant invention, when it seemed just sort of at best an 'enlightened amateur' approach. Why the hate towards Actress? The last days I've been listening his three albums on Spotify repeatedly and I really like what I'm hearing. It's definitely a style on its own. Sounds fresh. Why comparing it to AE btw? I don't really see the connection. the connection is that Actress is wrongly described as being unique and original when Autechre knocks so many dicks out of their mouths its not even funny in terms of truly carving their own path instead of being a mashup of other previously existing avant-electronic producers (on RIP i hear Coil, basic channel, aphex and autechre influences blatantly being recycled) the only 'original' points Actress gets is using all these blatant influences to a 'bedroom hyper compressed 4 track recorder' retro fetishized modern sound that kids love these days. Not terribly original at all, and since the music is so basic and unevolving it actually is shocking to me how excited people are about the music. *crosses fingers he drops in this thread to face his reckoning* Since when does music have to be non-basic and evolving in order to be interesting? There's for instance lots of monotonous techno that a lot of people can appreciate in the right context. Not everything has to be oh-so-difficult production-wise. Also let's for instance take into consideration Plastikman / Richie Hawtin. His music sounds pretty "basic" with a lot of subtle progression/effects but still it's really interesting to me. It doesn't have to be overly difficult to the point where it's hardly listenable to be enjoyable. I also prefer the more easy listening tracks by Autechre. I can't get my kicks out of the too experimental songs by them. Which leads me to the following, your hatred towards Actress definitely stems from the lack of super-duper-production-techniques which you seem to focus on in all your rants about his music. For you it apparently needs to be super complex for you to be able to enjoy music. Luckily for you Autechre fills in that void a lot of times, but I reckon you are turned off by a lot of other music due to the lack of "intelligent production design"? Try listening his music from a different perspective. From a non-producer aspect. Why do I like Actress? His music is a fun listen. Cool sounds, nice flow. There are definitely influences from a lot of music subgenres I do also appreciate. It sounds really enjoyable combined. Perhaps not super original in a way, but still I haven't heard anyone else combining stuff like he does. I'm specifically talking about the albums: Hazyville (2008), Splazsh (2010) and R.I.P. (2012). I've been listening these three multiple times the last days; hadn't really heard of him before reading all the hate in this thread. So thanks for a fine recommendation. Appreciated! :) Also I couldn't really care less how music is produced. Wether it's produced in a bedroom with fruity loops or in a massive studio with a lot of cool analogue gear. To me, and I reckon also a lot of other music enthousiasts, the end product is what counts. In the end I just want to hear great music.

  5. The sooner it leaks, the sooner it will be put online on bleep, the sooner Warp can move on and start leaking stuff about forthcoming . Bring it on!
  6. i feel komplete now, on the kontrary to my wallet
  7. I feel the very same about treale. We're talking about the part which starts for the first time at 3:45, right? Love that!
  8. Frankly you should rather be laughing at all the statements you made about the new m4a leak being fake. EPIC FAIL IS EPIC.
  9. compare it to the samples @ http://www.normanrecords.com/records/113468
  10. As I've stated before, I don't doubt the legitimacy of this leak, but I just like to point out the oddities.
  11. Fair and valid point, but still it's odd because it's German. It's not that I dislike the germans, but wouldn't it be more logical if they had chosen a more international/universal source? Something English for starters?!
  12. haha yeah hopefully so, we haven't received it yet though! So you haven't received the promo but a, to me obscure, German radio channel did receive the promo?! Isn't that odd? If you think about it.. why does this German radio channel get the authority to play the VERY FIRST tracks over say for example Mary Anne Hobs? I reckon more people are familiar with Mary Anne Hobs.. it would attract a broader range of people... I for one hadn't heard of Radio FRITZ before...... and German > English, guess not?! I reckon promo cd's are sent out in batch? Why would they delay your promo disc? (for which magazine do you write?)
  13. You received promo for Untilted and Quaristice you say. That leads me to think you will receive promo for Oversteps too? Right? RIGHT? :)
  14. I second this. But like I've said some post earlier, if this latest leak turns out to be the real stuff (the more I listen, the more I'm convinced it is) then Bleep will put the downloads up real soon now. They need to counter the illegal downloading. If they don't put up the album this week, I think it's a fake one we've been listening to. I just can't comprehend if they allow ppl downloading the full album like this without doing jack shit.
  15. A friend of mine analyzed the leak in a wave editor and noticed extreme clipping on some of the tracks. Also a sound difference visibly noticeable in the two ilanders. I reckon it's their original way of watermarking the promo by deliberately messing up different tracks on different promos.
  16. I chopped it all up on ableton earlier. ress 4:42 ilanders 5:25 known(1) 4:38 pt2ph8 4:05 qplay 4:34 see on see 4:33 Treale 5:59 os veix3 4:36 0=o 4:46 d-sho qub 6:23 st epero 4:02 redfall 3:18 krylon 6:32 yuop 5:51 I removed the extra ilanders in there as well. may not be exact cuts. total length 69min 24sec. It is real. http://xltronic.com/mb/112378/oversteps-initial-impressions I wrote a review track by track there. They way you chopped it up is not consistent with what the big shot mag reviewer provided on his last.fm: r ess (5:12) ilanders (5:32) known(1) ?? pt2ph8 (4:09) qplay (4:38) see on see (4:37) Treale (6:05) os veix3 (4:37) O=0 (4:52) d-sho qub (6:26) st epreo (1:43) redfall (3:48) krYlon (6:08) He scrobbled it like ths. So his version is just the actual promo cd with seperate tracks ripped to mp3 and tagged. Your st epreo is more than double in length... it does not add up. There is something fishy going on here...
  17. The big shot magazine reviewer got this listed on his last.fm : r ess (5:12) ilanders (5:32) known(1) ?? pt2ph8 (4:09) qplay (4:38) see on see (4:37) Treale (6:05) os veix3 (4:37) O=0 (4:52) d-sho qub (6:26) st epreo (1:43) redfall (3:48) krYlon (6:08) --- ilanders on this leak lasts for almost 7 minutes. that's really odd. This makes me think this m4a file is a recorded one on one stream copy. Someone played the album from start to finish, played ilanders twice and then it got recorded just like that. A true one on one copy from a live stream. So I don't think this is a CD rip at all.
