Ive had a lot of gear go through my hands. Not cause Im rich cause Im stubborn. What did you GAS a bit over and it ended up amazing? Synthi What did you GAS hard over and it ended up a major disappointment? The stuff I hate are things like menu diving. Anything that involves layers of menus and 400 page manuals. Ive had plenty of gear like that but can't remember it right now. What do you regret selling? Minimoog, Eml 400 401, and the polymoog even though it had no midi retrofit I wish more gear was built like the synthi. What would a Minimoog sound like with an unbuffered matrix and a ring mod ? I bet amazing.

I watched that Jimmy Savile doc on Netflix. How did no one get taken down for helping that guy? He obviously had help from many people including the police.

My college town had CSX go through the town on the regular and that shit was scary. Ran over vehicles regularly. Put pickup trucks into neighboring buildings a few times and people were always getting run over. Legs getting amputated. etc. I was glad to leave.

I had a DOD DFX9. Very nice. You could play with the internal trimmers to get long delays. Pretty dark sounding. I liked it though. Im trying to find a predaly box for my other delay. Just something to prevent the delay from immediately happening by 20 milliseconds or something. Im selling my Perc drum for a good profit to buy an Asssimil8or. Since WMD is going out of business I had to get a Kraken. So I needed the money. Have you heard the Kraken? Its nuts how accurate that snare sounds.

I think you'd have to be alive back then having lived through the 80's with limited knowledge of underground dance music to truly grasp the explosion of creativity that was discovering Aphex Twin. As a kid. Not some cultured person in mid life with tons of knowledge about Eno, Cage, Parmegiani Tudor or whoever. Or Detroit techno. Or Miami bass. I think Aphex knew and listened to these guys, but I didnt. So he blew my little mind back then.

I have a couple of those turn anything into a speaker vibration things. Cheap as dirt. 2 dollars maybe? With a really crappy amp. I was trying to make a shitty plate reverb. It worked, But I need to learn how to solder well before I go and try the slinky reverb. I think that might be as close as you can get to a proper plate reverb. They bone conduction transducers look very intreating. id love to see what people are doing with them.

The eventide h949 has a cool effect where you can reverse some of the samples. Like it chops up the sample and reverses some of the delays. Mix and match. Its cool. My main lust for distortion is the Ada mp-1. I love the distortion on that. Working with synths it's hard to guess what distortion will sound good, but with some flange on a synth and the Mp-1 I think it will be good. I had a nice Ampeg amp. Sold it though. It was 100 pounds. Huge. Had a nice spring reverb. Could do a lot to the sound with the tube EQ, but I sold it. Might have to get another amp, but a little lighter. They are nice to have. The little ampex 620s are a nice little amp for hi hats. One thing that really saddens me is there are no good phase vocoder apps. Only composer desktop which is such a pain to use. Soundshaper included. I wish some genius would take the code and make something wonderful with it. Or even some euro rack phase vocoder stuff. Nothing out there. But I think non-real time sounds best for fft. Even Kyma sounds a bit too smeary. But kyma is cool. wmd is going out of business so I had to grab a Kraken. Its such a great module.

Ive got this old classic analog synthesis book. The Allen Strange book. I need to have it OCR'ed. So I can search it. I tried reddit, They said put it in google drive and you can spit out the text. I want the actual Pdf still intact. I dont have any pro graphic software. I think Adobe reader pro can do it. Any help appreciated.

I love how aphex is putting out gear. The "never use presets" guy. I personally can't bring myself to buy an aphex synth for the same reason. Feels silly

I didnt realize it didnt have pres. Just building a cheap passive matrix mixer might be better. You'll get all kinds of weirdness. What kind of reverbs u using? I want to build a slinky reverb. Old DOD effects are sleepers too. Like the DOD R-880

Its in the Allen Strange book about matrix mixers. Some strange ghostly sounds you can get. I can't find the section. There is a term for it. Ill report back when I find it. Ao with bipolar you could get some phasing effects maybe? I could see the worth for CV. Im curious how it opens up for audio. You could send audio to monitors in rooms and mike up the rooms with sm57s. All with that mixer. Use effects and play with feedback that way. There is the pea soup thing I want to try.
