I love the books. I always imaged something closer to Denis' version than Lynch's when I first read it. Same with Paul's character as well. I just love everything about the new ones. Absolutely stunning films. Don't get wrong, I do like and respect the original.

There's a deleted scene where Pitre says to a captured Thufir "Checkmate old friend". I would have liked this to have been kept in, but obviously with him being removed completely from Part 2, it makes sense.

I don't agree. I do like the 84 version, but the Denis' are far superior in every way. No disrespect to Dune '84. Someone on YouTube called Secrets of Dune has a video on them. I'll have a look.

They cut out the Mentat sub-plot, which was a shame, but probably helped the story/pace

To be honest not a particular scene or sequence, but I did feel that the overall film seemed to flow a lot better for me this time. If I had to pick a scene, I'd say the ending, which felt a little rushed first time, was better. So many standout moments!
