  1. Played a Lyra 8 yesterday at Schneidersladen yesterday. I'm going to try my best to get one before I leave Europe. It's fkn incredible.
  2. Oh nice, they're starting to arrive. I haven't seen any in stores in Europe yet, but will keep an eye out over the next couple of weeks (otherwise I might just have to spend my money on the Medusa).
  3. omg noooo, those things are known to damage records
  4. Pretty tempted to buy a Medusa in Berlin next week.. Much cheaper than in Australia. OP-Z tho.. hmmmmmm
  5. Time for another compilation! This time, the style is juke/footwork. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeSUdFa_KHOFFyjJI5iitQW9i6o3-K1oCB6eSj6aQn7Ra1KIw/viewform?usp=sf_link The second TSR nanoloop compilation is now open for submissions. This time, we're exploring juke/footwork styles. If you're not familiar with the style, give these great mixes by DJ Innes a listen: GUIDELINES A little less strict than last time.. - Any version of Nanoloop is allowed (including multiple copies of same/different versions). This includes the iOS/Android versions; this time, sampling is allowed. - One additional device is allowed. This can be another gameboy running LSDJ, a Pocket Operator, Volca Sample etc.. but just to keep it fun and challenging, keep it to something small and/or limited. Nanoloop should still be taking care of most of the sound. - Maximum length of 10 minutes. - Keep BPM in the 150-170 range, but preferably 160. This may be released as a mixed version as well as unmixed, so it'd be nice to have consistent tempo throughout. Having said that, 96bpm "scuff" will also be accepted. - NO external effects, with the exception of using EQ/compression. However, please leave your tracks unmastered; this compilation will be mastered externally. - Editing after recording is permitted. - Collaborations are permitted and encouraged! DEADLINE AND SUBMISSIONS 1st December 2018. Get on it! Please upload lossless files only. Name them with your artist name first, then the track title. Upload your submission to Dropbox, Google Drive (**PLEASE** check your permissions, as there were a couple of submissions last year that I couldn't access), your own hosting, or similar, along with a text file (named exactly the same as your audio file), containing your artist name, track title, and any additional notes including the version(s) of nanoloop used, and external gear (if any). We're aiming for a January 2019 release.
  6. One of their best tracks imo. Fits right in with their other proggy tracks like Maphive6.1, Sublimit, Stop Look Listen, etc.
  7. yeah the most recent cuckoo op-z video makes me realise why it took them so long, as the interface looks super deep, and perhaps very quick once you get used to it. I'm very keen to get one after not being sure for a while!
  8. Yeah, it was a slightly regretful sale, as it's a great synth, but it was really begging to be used with more modular gear. And tbh, I could probably make a pretty decent clone of it on the Nord Modular..
  9. haha, the only thing I can think of is the ms20ic.. but that's basically only for the ms20 plugin
  10. Yeah it is expensive.. but I guess the idea of it is that you're building something up when you can, maybe? Which also adds to the addiction side of it. I safely got out of it (for now) by selling the 0-coast. I could sense the desire to get more eurorack stuff, perhaps just more semi-modular stuff at first, but no doubt that would have turned into getting a rack setup for it.. I'll probably give it a go someday if I have the spare money, but tbh it'd probably be mostly weird digital modules rather than trying to make some kind of ideal subtractive synth. For now though, I still have my Nord Modular, which provides me with enough crazy possibilities to destroy any ideas of getting into physical modular.. and then whatever I do with Max etc..
  11. Yeah Meshuggah are really unbelievably good live, especially when they pull off songs like Bleed without even struggling.
  12. Yeah that's an interesting point. He is quite monotone in his delivery, but I do think I'd miss the vocals; despite the monotone, I like the texture, and he does some interesting stuff rhythmically as well. Also, it's very satisfying when he occasionally breaks into a higher pitch scream imo! Plus he seems like a big dopey sweetie in interviews so I can't hate on him at all :P
  13. Bloodthirst is my favourite, mostly because it was the first one I heard.. but it has some damn catchy riffs and passages. Some stuff bordering on stoner metal riffs, which is a great contrast from the super fast atonal stuff. Disclaimer: I've only really given time to Bloodthirst and Kill, but the other stuff from the last 20 years seems pretty consistently good. I've never heard any of the pre-Corpsegrinder stuff. edit: currently giving their latest one "Red Before Black" a go, sounds a lot more thrashy than the other stuff I've heard, fkn AWESOME
  14. Yeah, they've really set a sound for themselves, in the same way that Meshuggah has. I once had a dream that Corpsegrinder started including melodic vocals in CC songs lol. I don't think he can actually sing though, right? I've only ever heard him growl in whatever bands he's been in. lol, could you imagine them doing a 90s Metallica change of style
  15. giving it a full listen now, I'm enjoying the melodic vocals, did they have those before? I can't remember. In other news, the past couple of days I've been appreciating just how nuts most of Cannibal Corpse's riffs are. How do they even remember, let alone write, that stuff? Like the main riff in this: I love the middle section of this track, where the guitars start with that tapping riff, and then the bass joins in.. and then the solos, fuck
  16. alright I'm calling "listening to autechre with a metronome" for most idm 2019
  17. damn, that opening riff, so dark sounds fkn sick, I'd forgotten about these guys, gonna check it out for sure!
  18. cool! I got into it at the right time then
  19. all good, I tend to get the opposite seasons from Autechre albums anyway (e.g. Confield being a summer album) so Oversteps is a good spring album!
  20. I really need to give Voivod more time. Do I just get everything? Have I asked this question before in this thread? Maybe I'll start from the latest album and go backwards?
  21. I think the visual side has potential, I haven't looked into it much, but I assume with the Unity integration you could potentially build your own reactive 3D visuals.. maybe? Again, a bit weird that they're taking preorders but there isn't any definitive, 100% complete information out there. Just a "guide" with some references to a full manual. Either way, my GAS for it has been reactivated somewhat. I'll see if there are any "demo events" while I'm in Sweden in late Oct-early Nov so I can check one out in person.
