  1. A couple listens over the weekend and I’d agree with the comments about it being his best since R+7. It’s a bit of a slow start but once you understand what he’s going for it digests a lot better. I can see why he recommends listening to it 2x in a row. Highlights for me: World Outside - fuck yes Locrian Midwest - especially the last 15 seconds, he’s got an amazing ability to create small moments of unique bliss. The last four tracks overall. Amazing run of tunes. I think On an Axis is one of the best tunes I’ve ever heard from him, I don’t even know how to classify it. A Barely Lit Path is just next level, probably my track of the year.
  2. Well that was excellent. Can’t wait to hear it again.
  3. Listening to the NTS stream now, it's definitely a trip. Reminding me mostly of R+7 so far. I have no idea what track I'm on since it's just playing thru but it's really immense so far.
  4. Oh just caught this - looks like he's playing the album on NTS today at 4pm central standard https://www.nts.live/schedule
  5. R+7 turns 10 this week. This should prob. just be attached to the thread for that album but I felt it appropriate to share here, in case there are comparisons to draw with the new one. This album always felt older than 10, although they're unrelated it's wild to me to think this came out AFTER Tomorrow's Harvest by BoC. I'm just getting really old, is what it comes down to. https://www.stereogum.com/2237213/oneohtrix-point-never-r-plus-seven-turns-10/reviews/the-anniversary/
  6. Where does it's sound land compared to the previous albums? I'm gonna hold out but ackowledge you as one of the resident OPN experts so wondering if you have any concise thoughts.
  7. I'm not ashamed to say that I'm a bit obessive of BoC and am desperate to hear what they've been working on, and I think about it to a probably unhealthy level, BUT... I was listening to Geogaddi this weekend and thought to myself, even if they are done and we're just not aware yet, what a special gift we have in Geogaddi specifically. It could've been the only album they released and I'd be happy. Of course I'm in love with the rest of their catalog but Geogaddi is such a comprehensive trip of an album. It just doesn't get much better. Alot of artists strive their entire careers to make something as special. I doubt they are done and I do think an album is coming, maybe next year. I just felt really content this weekend, it's been a while since I've felt that way about their music. A flawless discography and an arguement could be made for any of their LPs that it's their masterpiece.
  8. I can validate this assertion! Great album, really hits the spot for me right now.
  9. For the record I called Oneohtrix weird as a person, in an endearing way. not specifically this track. should’ve known better throwing that term around on this site!
  10. Soundcloud year was pretty damn exciting becuase of the consistent dopamine hits. Hard to argue this year though, and there's still time left...
  11. yeah i mean i guess weird is relative here. Is it weird compared to the Autechre subforum? No certainly not. Is he a weird guy compared to most musicians and styles? I'd say so. He's always been difficult to categorize for me.
  12. Say what you will about his music and whether you like it or not but one thing is for sure, the dude is a grade A weirdo and I'm 100% here for it. Total stunner of a track, tbh. It's gorgeous. Harkens back to R + 7 for me. This is when he's at his best, feels like he's just doing his thing.
  13. holy shit is this typical? I'm not sure I've ever seen this done, by literally anyone.
  14. This is profoundly sad. One of my favorite groups, their discography is immaculate. Tired Sounds and Refinement of Decline are very near and dear to me. RIP.
  15. Same, he doesn't always land for me but it's always interesting. Also very happy to see no featured guests as others have mentioned, I like when he's able to stand out on his own.
  16. Lots of good picks here but one I’m not seeing that I’ve gotta give it up for - Freescha
  17. Tough to follow you Alien Sugar but yea this one isn’t doing a lot for me. Is it all new material, or a compilation of old stuff?
  18. I like the track! Can't add much else that hasn't been already said but when talking about Pre-emptive Strike/Endtroducing/Private Press one can't neglect to mention Unkle - Psyence Fiction which for all intents and purposes, is a DJ Shadow album. Stone cold classic, that.
  19. Amazing vid, a great accompaniment to the track! So sorry to hear about his mother :(
  20. Aphex Twin released a new EP today, July 28th in the year 2023. Let it soak in and remind yourself how grateful we all should be. Seriously.
