  1. Those basslines. Has anyone tried copying these syroish basslines? I think it's part the little slips of octave-jumping portamentos but there's something uniqu about them harmonically as well... can't quite wrap my head around them synthesis-wise. Exactly! But the Th'Idiot EP was before Syro I think. I try to do these pitch changing bassline, can't deliver :D AFX can do it like no one else...
  2. This track is better than anything on the Collapse EP in my honest opinion You mean FUCK YES DJ SPUNK FOREVA!!!
  3. You have got to known it before? :) (Isn't it you who spoke about Zilty ITT? can't be arsed to look after the post... but it made me remember the good old days, with oscillik also :p) In my last post, when I speak about cheethah ep I'm speaking primarily of the first track
  4. Well, I read all the thread these last few weeks, trying not to cave in (big up to those who still are), and not respond ITT. But now I have... A few points if you please lol First - About the 96Kbps : The leak sure sounds good for the bitrate, but honestly with my shit headphones I still hear all the usual distortion and artifacts from that bitrate. But everybody ITT who thinks they're gonna like it more in better quality, remember the old aphex recordings who where full "problems" sound quality wise; aphex/afx never was about sound quality... Second - About the TrapGate : Some of it to me sounds like a nod to Ufabulum. I'm not denying the influence of trap or Jlin, but I'm not really sure it's only from there that he got the inspiration. Third - Innovative or Not? : I don't really care usually. But the full spread of this thread lead me to speak my mind... I REALLY don't find this EP to be innovative in the broad sense of the term but I suspect some people maybe "surprised" at the rythmes that are not classic aphex (for them). It's always been like that with him. Bottom line : This EP I think (IMO) is really good, like realllllly goooood. But I thought Cheetah was more "surprising" "innovative" than this. Bonus thing : Seriously nobody here on WATMM thinks that the beginning of Collapse 69 (especially the bassline) just sounds very much like... This :
  5. Joyrex.com? Or was it Joysex? :D
  6. nah man. he's a strong, no bullshit, real man, that speaks his mind. He can get anything done, because he was able to turn millions of dollars into billions of dollars which is like the hardest thing ever, because the expression "it takes money to make money" is not based in reality whatsoever, and democracy is easy to control if you're not a punk bitch. Because, like the USA isn't democracy... I'm more affraid of Turkey for now; If 'we'(the west and NATO) let Erdogan do whatever he is doing it's going to be a real problem for the EU and the Middle-East down the road.
  7. Are you fucking kidding me? What in the hell is that to do with the current state of USA (sadly the world too) politics? Plz guys help Hill Harry get elected just because the world needs more sensible persons in charge and not more bile-spouting war-mongering macho... For me it bowls down to a few things: -Repeal Obamacare? -Tax cuts for the wealthy? -Trade tariffs with China? -Build a wall against Mexico? If you answer 'no' you're on the right track

Autechre, most of the time! :D
  9. Nothing like a quick in-thread poll to put things back in track heh? I'll vote for none of them, give me a finished tune like BBB instead! :D
  10. Inspired by this (posted in afx soundcloud thread): I thought it would be cool to have a thread about weird, old or just unusual instruments; I imagine everybody here is into that ^^ So, here are some links, feel free to post away! Absolute reference here: http://www.mim.be/en Maybe we could pin it if watmm deems it worthy?
  11. I don't believe in people hearing the difference, unless it was sourced from a different master than the 16-bit CD mad props to ya yup. 24bit is a waste of time. the weirdness of snake oil delusional disorder is too extreme for even me to comprehend sometimes Listen to the 256kbps rip on a good system, and then the CD/flac(better the 24bit) to my ears it's quite obvious the sound is way more full, but maybe most people aren't used to earing what is a good production...
  12. "custom break acid" is obviously analord like in the synths analords where realeased late 2004-early 2005 if I remember right; how long was he making these type of tracks? you can check live/dj sets to know they were already old tracks when they were released... it always was this way with afex, he always releases tracks he made a few years earlier with syro he just went a step further (backward?) releasing tunes he made 6 years ago... IMO most lovely tune is the last one on CCAI for me I really enjoy the SC dump, but CCAI is where it's at for me :)
  13. Maybe (just maybe) he made tunes like all these on a hourly base and then when it was time to release them he beefed them up? I thought most of the people here would know how it is to have some tunes you made, and then you can spend time "bettering" them up for release... you can hear it in the soundcloudz, how there's potential windowlickers, flims, everydays, bucephaluses, even analords kind of tracks... it's just a matter of when he can arsed to produce/finish/polish/complete a track for release IMO
  14. That made my day thinking about Sini talking to afx who didn't quite understand while the old wattmmembers where all like "wtf not YOU sini!!! plz go away" :D:D
  15. Would love to have this one uploaded! https://mega.co.nz/#!794UiYxS!CGlatVtJH5mp-j46FcRXFOntKV1GAlpv2_0Ty2X8MCY
  16. Syro is like the invert of old aphex album, like all is in the composition/sequencing versus weird/distorted sounds... I guess this is wat some people don't like 'bout it plenty people said it already, but i discover twist everytime i listen again in one word: LUSH (in a perfect compositional sense) just had to add LUSH again
