  1. I've got the 'Volume Four' compilation CD/book from 1992 which has an interview with RDJ, if that's of any interest. Nothing spectacular that you haven't read a million times before, but it may be interesting from an historical perspective. Most interesting thing is that he mentions his plans of making an ambient album for R & S. I haven't tried scanning it yet, but I'd best warn you it certainly won't be the best quality.
  2. Sorry, only just spotted that it's also here: 1999-09-14 - joyrex.com - CAT023-The Lost Caustic Window Album - text in Alex Pallas' WATMM archives. My apologies.
  3. 'Muttley' was just the name Mike P gave it when he described the songs for joyrex.com way back when (aah, those were the days), since it contained samples of Hanna Barbara's Wacky Racers cartoon - they're all untitled tracks, with the exception of the Phlaps song that also appears on it, since it was released and was given an offiical name. Cheers Joyrex. Yeah, that must be the article I found after my initial post about 'Muttley' (with a track-by-track breakdown?) Man, it was tantalising reading that! Yeah, that was one of the things that put joyrex.com 'on the map' as it were... that and the revelation that the Brad Strider EPs were indeed Richard and not Sepulveda. You think you could link me to this article? If it still exists, that is. No problem: Caustic Window Email
  4. Astrobotnia Part 02 (Side 2, track 1).
  5. Your post is a work of art.
  6. Have those old albums ever even existed?
  7. Quite. I think all the Old Tunes do their job as they are (if they really are BoC), and the fact that they're so rough and semi-formed is part of their charm. They're also easy to get hold of already. 'Catalog 3' etc. though are just begging to be unearthed, not to mention the shitload of other stuff they've obviously got locked away in the vaults. Just because stuff is unreleased doesn't mean that it's shit; their live tracks that are otherwise unissued prove that. As someone else mentioned (can't remember where), why not put the stuff out on bleep or wherever, which would surely save them a shitload compared to reissuing physical copies? no way, i'd much rather have acid memories on vinyl. Well, if they're willing to splash out and go the whole hog, so would I. Just trying to make it easier for the bros...
  8. Quinoline Yellow - 'Cyriack Parasol'.

  11. Ah, think I may have just found out after googling a bit harder, but any insight would still be nice.
  12. Did 'Muttley' ever make it beyond the four or whatever copies of the Caustic Window album? Just wondering as it's always cited by the actual song title. Can't find it in any discographies.
  13. Downloaded the Manchester 1999 set a while ago, and found that it's identical to the recording listed as the Warp 10th Anniversary Party from the same year. I also recall someone on one of the WATMM forums saying that track 5 from these recordings is actually 'Mcr Quarter' itself (although I don't own the Japanese version of 'Confield' so I can't compare the two). Anyone able to fill me in?
  14. New Order - 'Turn The Heater On'
  15. 'Compilation' is fucking ace. Astroblaster's my fave, just sheer, unadulterated ballsnastiness. The only quibble I've got with the album is that R2D2 isn't on it. There are absolutely no shit Caustic Window tracks. They couldn't have been made by anybody else but Richard D. James.
  16. Backtracking from 'Confield', 'Chiastic Slide' was the one that made everything drop completely into place, and 'Cipater' the track that kickstarted the whole thing. That song is one of my faves too. I think 'Chiastic Slide' appears to have been a little underrated.

    Gescom - Minidisc

Yeah, I remember reading about that 'zero seek time' once. Whoever came up with that never factored in my Sony deck. It probably takes it as long to find each piece in shuffle mode as it did Gescom to actually create the tracks in the first place.

Me neither. I feel somehow disappointed by that.
  19. I'f love it if they could finally do justice to 'Blockbusters'.
  20. Must admit that, after buying 'Confield' on release, I still find myself feeling a little bruised after it's finished (in a good, non-pervy way). Like all Autechre albums I think it still sounds as revolutionary today, and it's the one that really ignited my interest which is still as strong today. Definitely their most disturbing record to my mind ('Sim Gishel' scares the cack out of me).
  21. Olson Heard From Telegraph Lines Rodox Video On A Rolling Sea In The Annexe Aphex, 'House Of Adin'adab' is on 'A Few Old Tunes' and also 'Old Tunes Volume 1' ('Side B', track 3).
  22. Yeah, I'd have to agree as I don't tend to go straight from listening to one album/EP to another. And although there are a couple of tracks that irk me, I can't say that there are any actual releases that I dislike at all. Each and every one is right up there amongst my absolute faves.
  23. Isn't it "Too Wise You Are, Too Wise You Be, I See You Are Too Wise For Me?" Maybe not.
