  1. Yeah, 4 discs. Not entirely sure why the two Colundi Sequences couldn't have just been pressed to CD but there you go. I felt a certain amount of trainspotter gratification in ripping and burning them. Waiting for this set to arrive has made me revisit my Aleksi back catalogue which has been an absolute joy, just wish I could find my Project V CD.

  2. 12" and CD arrived Saturday morning from Bleep. The vinyl feels a little flimsy and no inner sleeve so expecting a bit of scuffing there. Still an ace EP though, nice to finally hear it properly. Osla for n is still my favourite of the four, sounds like a Tusken Raiders number station broadcast (the indigenous Tatooine race, not the Mike P alias).

  3.

    Very well respected.

not to be a cunt (not intentionally at least ) but you say this as if it's objective. It's not respected by quite a few folks

I'm kind of assuming you mean that the label as it is today is not respected? Surely while Ivo was at the helm all those years you have to give them credit for their single-mindedness and the influence of so many of the artists on their old roster, even if they weren't to your taste?

i have no idea who Ivo is, no sir i dont like it

You're the last person who I believe would ever troll on this forum, so... are you being serious (about Ivo, that is)?

  4. I'm a noob compared to everyone else here, I only took an interest when Ampexian came out and backtracked from there. I still love Ampexian and Forest of Oversensitivity, Meditation on Meditations is pretty decent too. The only album I've yet to like is The Only She Chapters. I'm clearly on my own in liking the Diamond Watch Wrists album though.

  6. When cash is less tight, I'm going to dive and buy this, what I've heard since Where Were U In '92 I've thought was OK and worth giving a bit more time. And if whether or not I thought the artist was an arsehole was a criteria for buying their records then I'd probably have a fraction of my current collection.

  7. The new Study Series 7" is the best in ages. Has anyone tried the Listening Center album? Got Ghost Box written all over it. And I can't wait for the John Foxx collab, his stuff as or with The Maths (whichever) is amazing, Benge must be the Godfather to all vintage synth geeks.

  8. I've been a BoC cynic on these pages for most of my time here (even though I initially joined because of the BoC subforum, having been a lover of their stuff since maybe 1999). I'm so happy that with this album they've rolled up all my negative words and feelings and rammed them back up my arse. Before you know it I'll be back to playing Geogaddi backwards six times a day.

  9.

    Sick Times! The drums:)

definitely an extension of trans canada highway possibilities.

My first thought was that this album kind of follows up on the promise of the TCH EP (Dayvan Cowboy aside).

So first listen over and my initial impressions that noone'll care about but what the fuck:

This is the only album other than Twoism (if you can grant Twoism as an album) from which I wouldn't excise a single moment.

In hindsight this was an obvious album for BoC to make, without ever sounding predictable or safe.

Not sure about all the symmetry and shit yet, but Semena Mertvykh is both a perfect closer and opener to my ears; I already want to go back and listen again straight away (which I will do once I've been for a piss and finished typing this shit), so it feels kind of cyclical in that sense.

Their own comments about tracks finishing abruptly so as to act as soundtrack cues makes the album make a lot more sense.

In some ways it feels like some of the Strange Life albums (I.e. imaginary film soundtracks).

Anyways, sorry for the tl;dr bollocks, it only remains for me to recant my cynicism of the past few years. I was quick to lambast BoC for their extended radio silence and argue that whatever they released could only be a massive disappointment. I was wrong, wrong and fucking wrong. I am prepared to not only eat my words with a supersize side order of humble pie, but vomit up said words and chow them down again straight away while they're still steaming at the bottom of the bucket.

  10. Can't be arsed tracking back through these threads tonight so fuck it if jazz, but it seems there isn't a bonus track for Japan:

At least that should save me a few bob. And did the album announcement usher in the official return to the bog-standard forum of chaosmachine and playbynumbers?
