  1. :wang: :wang: pls no need for hints, looks like the Experts are already on it. =)
  2. why don't u write about the polarity of the beats or something, just made up stuff. something about the to-and fro of the 'forward looking vs the backward looking' bits. and the amount of the percussion thats where it should be compared to the parts of percussion that are inexplicably absent in others. dunno see if yr teacher buys it.
  3. hi, juicy avatar btw. yeah re sounds…. i like yr tree find there, i have loads of London Plains trees near me, the ones with the camo bark that wants to peel off in really neat pieces naturally, tapping the ones that are only part way off are very cool to listen to. EH is now called The Splund
  4. really not feeling the kazoo in here or the washboard stuff - thats totally wack, but the carpenter esque stuff with mellotronage at the beginning is nice - overall comes over as knowingly bad goofy. some sounds in it are good - like deep acoustic percs, but its not really focussing on any in particular, like needlessly switching to the wrong instrument every time i notice a good bit. seems like they're not 100% sure what they like imo.
  5. the pause button mixes were more serial compositions than what i think you actually mean, turntable pairs of tracks could be edited like a splice to get beats running into each other. the pause was used as a razor in trad tape edits. mpc1k, on untitled tour, mpc was samples/fx, sequencing those and the nord modulars. some kicks were samples, usually the dirtier ones, clean mostly nord. usually we had a pair of comp/lim units at each of mine n seans' workstations', and one at the master, then yeah one at the FOH console. i tend to keep gear lying around, or stacked up in the studio - but my actually main workspace where i focus on current tracks is less random. i like having it around, but not obsessively
  6. wasn't this at the music box in manchester. it was released in japan only, as a bonus track for confield.
  7. Ace, you're right - When I googled 'Hans-Joachim Roedelius; Über berg und tal' it point to this which credits the track: u sure, i can't play this for some reason, but my copy sounds nothing like the track in the OP cool u found it - its incredible - theres also a track on the album 'auf leisen sohlen' by the same name, lol patchy bastard. i have two versions of selbstportrait with the same listing and different tracks as well i thought Germans were noted for being thorough? ah, he's austrian. I was just gonna say, this seems like something Wolfgang Voigt would do...reminds me of the CD and LP differences of Konigsforst. I have been meaning to pick up all the Selbstportrait records for a while now...actually, funnily enough, I think it was that mystery track that sparked my interest in Roedelius. When I sent Leafs that track years ago, he speculated that it could have been Roedelius, but the guy has done so much stuff it seemed like we'd never find it. Then he told me a bit later about the Selbstportrait stuff and how I'd love it, and here I am again now. Going to buy all this stuff at once when I get some cash again, if I can afford it. Anyway, speaking of Voigt, are you guys into him? He's one of the few other musicians out there who, in my opinion, are just so consumed in their own musical universe to really be compared to anyone else, much like AE. I recently scored a copy of his super-rare Ruckverzauberung 4 album, directly from him too, and it's been blowing my mind lately... yeah i love his stuff, he's got mad talent imo After posting that I realized you remixed Mike Ink back in the day, so DERP! Though I guess that was a long time ago now, and lord knows a couple years of time passing for Wolfgang is like a couple universes for the rest of us. So it's cool to know you still like him now! One of the other artists I think falls into that category is Pub - do you guys know his stuff at all? He's been self-releasing most of his work via Ampoule Records in Scotland for years, and he really doesn't sound like anyone else out there. Somehow completely organic and alive, yet electronic all the same: [youtubehd]B_YqFK9f4jM[/youtubehd] [youtubehd]v2mW35D_tfw[/youtubehd] yeah track 2 @ 0'30'' that step filter , reminds me of basic channel, tbh despite the many ppl on the electronic dub thing, i thing there's always more room for ppl, its a delicate style, so even the most subtle of personalities can render a greater difference.

  9. thats coincidence, there are often title abbrevs and caps in cool places, but ur not quite on. and no planes this time.
  10. That's understandable. No worries. thanks for understanding, each album has something that its tracks share amongst them. and each album is periods in a time line, so theres tangible difference to how we made them , what with , where, and what we were into, but a word like - crystalline for draft7.30 would be too easy to come up with, but to be far too misleading as a whole.

  12. The thread is now open in genban if you wanna get involved Thanks for doing this, probably won't get a chance to add any more questions this evening. You guys rule so hard (lol) we might sneak one in, do a fake watmmer track as opposed to u guys doing fake ae. if thats not too upsetting. nice one feltcher
  13. no - i can't - they're collections of tracks to me - inside a long 'track as a whole' piece - id like to try to finger print each album, but its hard. no karaoke, 'back in black' by ACDC if pushed
  14. 3 hahha yeah, i think so kinda, for example i'd be tuned into stu allan's souled out for 4 hrs : hiphop 1 hour then soul 2 hours, then house/acid last 1 hour. sean would switch off for 2 hours in the middle, then take the piss the next day about all the wet perms all the singers had
  15. ha, you're welcome yeah ace u got a link? just to be clear, theres a few geswackers mbe not random, but i had no idea after AU' of the outcome. Was AU meant for Gold, or Astronomical Units, or something else the AU was a reference to a sample on the FZ10, a list of samples we named 'au[insert descriptive]' for sounds that were a like low vocal choir voices sustaining a single note. phonetically speaking it was the sound u would get saying 'or', 'awe' 'au'kland and so on funny/weird how we never released that track not for any reason or anything, just falls in that nether zone was good. defining actually, i mean thats why we robbed our own name off ourselves. grabbing our new us.

  17. no, i can't imagine everyone liking it, i know we can make more normal music if we wanted to. but theres a sense that it would turn out to be a futile kind of competition. i mean everyone doing the same things more or less. no real gains and we wouldn't be at all entertained
  18. we've still got all the tapes, but there a lot. as for my memory 15 years was a bit back. really sorry. but tell him i'll take a look for it - just to see
  19. each track was a contribution from different ppl, none of the trax were solely me with sean. edit oh forgot the other q's friends of kane played me demo's didn't really hear any full finished. its UK soul. no it doesn't, but would be nice to have more records to spread around
  20. mixing sample rate@ 44.1, i did some old tapes to dig@ 88.2, but i doubt there was much point. not seen his films but i rate the guys tunes
