24 dx7s under algorithmic control. This kind of thing can often be academic and taxing to listen to but he gets a lot of great sounds out of this setup.

It's really nice - Reminds me of the 'super-hot mid summer temperatures where you need to cool down in a pool' sounds of Hotel Nota ( https://romeopoirier.bandcamp.com/album/hotel-nota )
Hotel Nota is such a great album. I agree there are some parallels here.

I tend to favor beatless stuff these days but there are some interesting rhythms on the first one. I need to give it a few spins.

At the moment it's like a lot of other AI art, surprisingly polished on a technical level but pretty empty on an artistic level. Like Midjourney stuff tends to look like slightly cringey poster shop stuff. Good for places where art & music are just a placeholder but not more than that.
Of course this stuff is all evolving fast. Maybe it will be blowing us away with its insane creativity a year from now?

Boomkat's album of the week is not usually mine but last week it was. Heavy sub-bass tectonic abstract dub with a lot of gauzy textures. Listen on something with real low end. As good as anything on West Mineral.
Cover art is funny too.

He's always had a somewhat childish sense of humor but he's really outdoing himself here. Not impressed.

I was wondering if he’s been doing his own mixing and mastering too. Listening to this side by side with other recent electronic music stuff it really stands out sonically and not in a good way.

Bass, Semiacoustic Nature and Silver Sound 60 are all great.
Also:

Naturalist
Schnittstelle

Don’t know why this topic has compelled me to post, but imo although dude is definitely a musical genius, I don’t personally think that genius extends to the depth or quality of his conceptual gags. They’ve always seemed pretty surface to me. But hopefully there is something here and it’s not, as was mentioned above, just edge lord shit.
100% this. I have tremendous respect for him as a musician. Not keen to see him wade into this stuff.

Be Up A Hello was the first Squarepusher I enjoyed in a while - in fact it was really, really good - so I was perhaps a bit overhyped.
For me it's less the thin sounds (it sounds warmer than the bunch before Be Up A Hello) but just the chords and melodies aren't my thing where they do show up in an overt way, nor do I like those classic drum sounds others seem to. I find Enbounce particularly garish and awful and the guitar tracks just aren't my thing.Same. I liked his last one a lot but so far this one just annoys me. I'll give it more time.
The production sounds really thin to me.

I've been a bit lukewarm on his last few albums but I'm liking this. Very cinematic.

That's around the time of Future Days right? They were one of the all time great rock bands for sure.

*Three* new albums of very spacey ambient from Juan MacLean side project. It's quite slow paced and there are more tootle-ley flute bits than I usually go for in ambient but I'm into this all the same. Just the thing for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Yeah I need to go listen to some Appleblim now.

Good stuff on Peak Oil. Maybe a faint hint of dubstep along with the techno influences you’d expect from this label.
This has a good chance of winding up on my end of year list.- 4

He’s free to release as much as he wants of course but somebody needs to sift through it all for the best bits and it isn’t going to be me.

I was once a fan but he lost me about 100 albums ago.

As others have said, this album isn't an immediate grabber. Over time though it's become one of my favorites from last year.

There are a ton of these modular improv albums now but this one really stands out. Lots of nice sounds and a big variety of moods and styles.
-
I don’t usually like techno but he has a very deft touch with this music.

A lot of stuff going on here, including many nods to late 90s / early 00s drum & bass and IDM.
Easy to like for members of this forum I expect.

New artist to me but some nice stuff on here. Makes sense that it's on Subtext. Sound design is unconventional. Maybe some physical modeling?

annoys me when producers get bored and start singing.
I very rarely like it when IDM producers do. I can't get behind that new Clark album at all.
When it's in a more soulful/R&B vein like this I'm into it.

Avant soul. Getting Spacek/Holy Other etc vibes. I'm always up for stuff in this vein.
