  1. I listened to their last one quite a bit when it came out and still listen to it occasionally even now. Good stuff. Not sure about that cover art though. Hot pink doesn't exactly scream "Fear Ratio" to me.
  2. Yeah it's been holding my interest a lot longer than most similar records do too
  3. I've really liked some stuff from Kuroi Ame and CMD094 but like a lot of other artists in that scene they put out so much stuff I tend to lose track of it.
  4. Of course the Wire is going to turn their pretentious hipster noses up at it. I could trim it down a bit but I like it overall.
  5. On first listen I liked this but not as much as Poly-Ana. I'll still pick up a copy since they/he/she carry the torch for a style of music that used to mean a lot to me.
  6. To get back the original topic I guess until it's clear where Epic is going to take BC I'll be buying music from Boomkat. They can be annoyingly hipster at times but they do dig up a lot of interesting records and I think it's important to preserve their independent curatorial voice.
  7. Yeah aside from the people I've met through forums and mailing lists like this I don't know anybody that buys music anymore. Unfortunately it's become very niche.
  8. But this is more just a property of everything being online isn't it? You could also just post them up on a personal website or dropbox folder or something. If you're going to tie yourself to a platform like BC and be at the mercy of their corporate ambitions then you should get more than a landing page and download button in return. I like BC as it is but it could do a lot more to help artists find an audience.
  9. Sure I’d like it to be possible for people to go on selling and owning music too. But if the stuff in my library is anything to go by that figure would be closer to 99 percent that wouldn’t be able to pay rent off music sales.
  10. Yeah this is a great record. Sits next to Autechre on my mental shelf but less annoying than Ae often is.
  11. This is something I've been thinking about a lot lately too. As much as I like Bandcamp most of the records I buy on there sell in very low numbers, far below what any musician could make a living off of. So if it's not really making people enough money to support themselves maybe it's worth taking a step back and asking if there's some other way we can encourage creativity and help musicians find an audience without trying to mimic an ownership model that makes much less sense in an always online world and doesn't put control of music in the hands of tech megacorps that just see it as a checkbox in their strategy documents?
  12. Yeah I really hope for the best here for the sake of the artists but I will be buying music elsewhere from now on.
  13. The thing is Epic wouldn’t do this unless they thought they could squeeze significantly more money out of BC than it’s making now. None of the ways I can think of that they could do that are going to make it better for the kind of users that love it for what it is today. The Tencent connection is gross too.
  14. I'm liking this a lot better than his previous one. There's a lushness and a greater variety of sounds & sequences that engages my attention much more.
  15. Liking this a lot on first spin.
  16. This is good. 2022 already shaping up nicely for music.
  17. Yeah those old Pjusk albums are great. This is a nice surprise.
  18. Finding this surprisingly agreeable. More like a noir film soundtrack than triphop.
  19. This might be my favorite thing he’s done. Great stuff. I could use a whole album like this.
  20. 2020 was an amazing year for music. There weren't as many records that really grabbed me this year but these would be my picks for this 2021: * Suryummy - Polynators * LF58 - Live at Brancaleone * Intelligent Life - Lost in Translation * SEEKERSINTERNATIONAL - Presents Ragga Preservation Society * Arian Shafiee - Pastorale * Floatie - Voyage Out * Eilien - Digital Lovers * Onsy - MetaConc * Joseph Shabason - The Fellowship * Elephant9 - Arrival of the New Elders * Path of the Sun - Path of the Sun * Helado Negro - Far In * Curved Light - A User's Guide to Existence
  21. There are some great tracks scattered around on various Aleksi releases but the recent avalanche of new stuff has burned me out on it. I agree that of the recent stuff the Ovuca is the best.
  22. Actually I think I have plenty of Colundi already.
