  1. I've been listening to a few episodes of this podcast - they're essentially going through Ae's discography in chronological order and providing their opinions on each release, discussing stand-out tracks, the background and history of each release etc.

They also quote directly from Sean and Rob when discussing how some of the albums were made, different approaches taken with each one, interview excerpts from the lads etc.

I actually find their discussions interesting to listen to. Some of their discussions looks at technical details too. Good on them for giving this a go - Ae's music is very difficult to talk about and I'm not saying Gonkcast is perfect at this but hearing people's different views and interpretations of Ae's music is quite interesting to hear in an audio format as opposed to reading watmm threads where you usually get one liner responses to tracks as opposed to long form discussions.

Definitely find it a bit odd though that one of the guys thinks Untilted is their worst release yet (wtf - blasphemy).

  2. I am guessing he needs Skam for help with the physical release of a record. I know nothing about record sales but if digital outperforms physical anyway, why not self-release with no help from Skam? I am sure he has a large enough fan base to do OK with self-releases but I could be wrong.

Yep, that's exactly how it starts. First you buy yourself a drum kit. Then you're wearing lycra cycling gear on Sundays. Before you know it, you're frequenting that lay-by on the outskirts of town, the one that's popular with other straight men. You know the one (if not, pm me for postcode).

Yeah what's with the lycra wearing cycling gear middle aged Dads out cycling on weekends and are sometimes aggressively cycling to piss off cars? Are they going through some kind of mid-life crisis? Does anyone know anyone that does this and can provide an insight into these people?

  4. I have to admit that I have a soft spot for their Human After All album. I know it got a lot of hate in the music press and not many fans reference it as a milestone but it's easily their 'weirdest' release. Tunes like Technologic are catchy yet ominous at the same time.

Oh and managed to seem them live back in 2007 with the pyramid stuff on set and the bass from Television Rules the Nation heard live was pretty nice.

Discovery has some stand out tunes - probably peaked at that point.

Yes. Drukqs is his last CDs I bought. IDK, liked only very few tracks. Just remember Vordhosbn... Analords, wasn't a fan of RDJ going acid. Tuss idk at all. It's just that I moved on after Windowlicker. Oh and its glorious video... He was big fun, big bang, big innovation and trolling until then... hehe wonderful Ventolin beep, but then.. Wait, Rubber Johnny video was great.

I'm no expert past Windowlicker, just moved on. It's possible I just did not spend enough time with later tracks. Same what I did to Ae Quaristice (+EPs).

    Can't tell if trolling

red moss is so damn good

I can see why they didn't release it - just feels like it wouldn't fit on any of their releases to date. Lush tune though.

Which is why it would be great to have an Old Tunes boxset of some kind.

Yes! I've been listening for the past couple of years. Many hilarious moments.

If anyone is a fan of Vic Berger, check this out as he's one of the hosts.

  8. Has anyone caught any of the new film, Can't Get You Out Of My Head?

I'm only finished with episode 1 but wow, he has really firmed up nicely his theory on individualism versus collective action quite nicely in this one. Some very interesting characters even in the first episode. Looking forward to the rest of it.

So far this one feels like a summary of his main arguments drawn from prior/recent works of his but the characters and drama in this one appear to be a lot more exciting and thought provoking.

  9. I have been checking out Salvatorin's soundcloud since the news of his passing and I have to say he had exceptional skills when it came to music; not only electronic music but other genres as well. One of a kind.
