  4. Mavvy-cat was good at the keyboard blocking thing :)
  5. Just finished The Trailer Park Boys series, movies and specials. I've never seen Max Headroom, but the first 2 discs from "The Complete Series" are in hand and I can start watching tonight.
  6. Last update. My next door neighbor drove Mav and I to the ER for the euthanasia. On the way back he mentioned that his wife saw a sickly rabbit in my front yard the week I was out of town. Mav did catch at least one rabbit that week, and predators will usually go for the weak prey first. I bet that rabbit either had lily or antifreeze in its stomach. I learned that even one leaf or flower petal contains enough toxin to destroy feline kidneys. I'm satisfied with that explanation.
  7. Maverick's life ended at 8:17pm US Mountain time, passing peacefully and painlessly. Rest in peace buddy boy, I love you! If the WATMM mods/community wishes my posts be moved out of this thread I will not take offense. I never meant to ruin this thread.
  8. If it was a tainted bunny that did Maverick in, this is what he is thinking:
  9. Well, there are 2 main types of organ failure. Chronic and Acute. Chronic is the slow gradual decline of organ function, where Acute is the sudden and complete failure. Maverick has Acute failure, with no pre-warning signs over the years. The most likely culprits are antifreeze (propylene glycol) or lily flowers. Antifreeze is sweet and has a buttery mouth-feel and attracts many mammals to ingest it. Once it reaches the kidneys, it crystalizes and essentially does the same thing freezing food does - the crystals rupture the cells that contain them and there is no way to reverse this damage. Maverick is a proficient hunter, feeding on mice, birds and rabbits daily. I did come home last Weds night to see bird feathers and a not-so-lucky rabbit's foot on the floor, which by itself is pretty normal, but it is quite possible one of his prey items had ingested antifreeze or another contaminant.
  10. A friend told me his cat survived kidney failure (same as Maverick) for a year after being treated, but she had to have frequent fluid infusions where you stick an I.V. needle in the scruff of the neck and let the fluid drain into their body. That gives me hope that he could live a bit longer, but also new despair because my job requires frequent travel where I'll be away from home for 6 days at a time (coming home on weekends), sometimes for multiple weeks in a row. It was bad enough having to leave a healthy self-sufficient cat alone for half the year... if he lives and needs constant attention then I'd have no choice but to quit my (very lucrative) job so I could be there to treat him every day. Even if he wouldn't need daily infusions and I could still travel, I don't want his remaining time on Earth to be spent alone away from daddy, he's endured enough of that for the last 4 years as it is. I couldn't live with myself if I came home from a week on the road to find that he had passed in my absence. And I couldn't put the burden on my neighbor, who is already kind enough to have fed him every morning while I've been out of town. As of now, Maverick is still alert but completely devoid of energy. His balance is shot, has no appetite, refuses water... he'll sniff the dish when I put it up to his face, lick his lips a few times, but won't actually lap any up. He has urinated a few times which IS a sign that the fluid infusions have been at least partially absorbed and the kidneys are somewhat processing it... but he hasn't eaten for 4 full days now and it takes all of his energy just to stand up and change resting position. I keep getting these glimmers of hope, but deep down I know he is dying. I don't want to put him through any more car rides (he HATES them, and hates being forced into a crate), and I just don't have to heart to keep putting him through the stress of repeated vet appointments. I don't know what to do, there are but two grains of sand left in the hourglass.... My boss gave me Monday off in order to make a euthanasia appointment, but the vet says wait till Monday and do more blood work. Waiting is just terrible, I feel like I'm stringing Maverick along (and myself), just prolonging the inevitable. So sad.
  11. I'm sorry, guess that was a little harsh to pre-accuse like that....the internet can be a cruel place. Seems like any time something bad happens in this world, someone is always there to rub salt in the wound. But I suppose that is the exception not the rule.
  12. Poor Mavvy, he suddenly showed signs of illness - lethargy, not eating or drinking for 2 full days. I took him to the vet this morning and his bloodwork is off the charts for acute kidney failure. He goes back for fluid infusion tomorrow morning, but if he doesn't look any better by Sunday night I'm going to have to put him down on Monday I don't know why I'm telling this to WATMM, I'll proabably get a bunch of negative replies but for some strange reason I have to say something to the group... Wish him luck!
  13. Still, not bad for an IDM producer who is still alive!
  14. Just read Kickstarter Update #13 I would say it would be a good idea to try and get into Guinness. http://rateyourmusic.com/list/yerblues/vinyl_fetish__a_list_of_some_of_the_most_valuable_vinyl_records/ http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/most-valuable-records.htm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Record_collecting#Most_valuable_records Quick glance at these links and I surmise the average "valuable" record sells for $7000, exceptional ones sell for $30k, and uber-gems with some one-of-a-kind valued attribute (like autographed) might fetch $100-400k *IF* they sell at all. I'd say $115k for a record made by an artist, with nowhere near the clout of Lennon, Dylan, or Elvis, is pretty noteworthy. I would love to travel forward in time a few hundred years to see how the future remembers RDJ.
  15. Yea, I would at least talk with a labor lawyer if you don't find any firm info online. There is definitely such thing as wrongful termination, but that right has defined boundaries, usually a mix of state/federal law and language in your employment contract. When you get hired, you usually sign paperwork, and if so, that is where your most of rights are defined (in addition to state/fed law). If you signed no paperwork, then your rights are limited to those at the state/fed level. In general I find US employment relationships logical and fair, but there are just way too many instances of these laws being bent or broken. People should be treated with dignity, not shit-canned with barely enough time to clear their desks.
  16. FLAC downloading - 19 seconds left! Gonna be a great night from what I have read from the last few pages of this thread!!!! So no AIFF/WAV format available after all?

  18. Interesting, I never would have thought someone else would rip off Sandy's style to that extent. Jee-Young Lee is definitely talented, good enough to fool me (a big fan of Skoglund). She kind of puts her own twist on the style, but she definitely hasn't done anything ground-breaking, IMO. Sandy was doing these installations years before Lee was even born...
  19. I'd recognize Sandy Skoglund's work anywhere. She's been doing surreal scenes like this for many years, and I had the opportunity to see the Fox Games scene installed at the Denver Art Museum. I own large prints of: Fox Games (in my living room) A Breeze At Work (my office) The Green House (rec room) http://sandyskoglund.com/pages/imagelist_fl/1986_91fl/index.html Atomic Love (rec room) http://sandyskoglund.com/pages/imagelist_fl/1992_95fl/ Radioactive Cats (bedroom) http://sandyskoglund.com/pages/imagelist_fl/1979_84fl/
  20. Do you mean John Cage? Yea, I'm an idiot.
