  1. I think we could pad out the pages with lengthy discussions about how flat and repetitive Venetian Snares can sound. fix'd.
  2. It seems you may have stumbled upon the wrong forum by accident, allow me to redirect you to your targeted destination: http://enyaforum.proboards.com/index.cgi
  3. Aside from the obvious (Rhubarb), I do have to put in a second vote for Cubus - AU http://buy.ilovecubus.co.uk/track/au And also, there's a Gridlock track called Under that I really love and can't find on Youtube...
  4. That reminds me... I remember as a teenager, raised as a Christian (as some oldskool watmmers such as yourself may remember), I had a sort of morbid curiosity towards Tool. Christians hate them, but something made me wanna listen to them. I guess the sort of idea of wanting to do what you're not supposed to do. At first they freaked me out a little but it didn't take long to get into them cos the first full album I listened to in full was Lateralus. But I got into them again last year, and I realised... there is very little Anti-Christian in Aenima, Lateralus and 10,000 days. It seems weird that Aenima was this big "no-no"... Tool has been more anti-religion than explicitly anti-Christian. I think the main gripe from Christians has more to do with Tool's use of occult imagery and ideas. Or then it's just; kids like it and it's rock music, therefor bad. It's interesting that Lateralus doesn't have any profanity in it, I think fuck is used once in Ticks & Leeches. On the whole Lateralus is quite a positive album compared to the angry and cynical Aenima. Yeah.... I remember reading Christian reviews just kinda out of morbid curiosity now that I'm on the other side of the story... they seem ok with most of Lateralus but they hate Aenima... but upon analysing Aenima's lyrics I realised there isn't really anything specifically anti christian or anti religious in the lyrics. Anyway.... dunno why I decided to raise that point in the first place :P

  6. Is that a bass pedal synth on the far right? Someone once told me he plays the bass synth on... whatever that really long track is at the end of Lateralus... is it Reflection? Anyway... pretty sure it was my brother who told me, and he tells me a lot of shit that isn't true, so I dunno. But I guess the drums in that track are relatively speaking a bit simpler so maybe it would't be a problem for Carey to play drums and synth at the same time.
  7. Reminds me of the fake Untilted album covers...
  8. I will agree that Aenima/Lateralus was their best but I still really like 10,000 Days. It's just not very consistent. Like 4 different, completely unrelated albums slapped together. Which is a shame because apart from some of the instrumental interlude stuff, there isn't really a bad song on it. They're just... missing their brothers and sisters. But it did take me a long time to get into it. I trust that whatever they do next will be of a very high standard, even if it isn't as good as Lateralus.
  9. Yeah I was a little bit confused by that comment. I'm sure there's A LOT more hyper-clean looking sci-fi. Those stills look NOTHING like the trailers. So I'm not worried. When I first saw the stills I thought it looked like Seaquest DSV. As soon as I saw the trailer, I realised how wrong I was. I know it's not going to be ultra grimey like the original, but I don't think that matters, as long as it looks realistic and believable. And considering almost everything will be done with practical effects, I'm pretty sure it will look realistic.
  10. True, it's not like the trailer stopped me from wanting to see it (just the opposite) but still, I like having LOTS of surprises when I see a film for the first time. That said... even though the trailer feels like it shows 3/4 of the story, for all we know it could actually only be showing like... 1/4 of the story. I remember the Hugo trailer felt like it showed a large chunk of the films story, but that was totally not the case.

That definitely sounds like the likely source... if not that particular song then a similar one by the same artist.
  12. Two of my flatmates/friends are on a low carb diet so they made a meatza. It was a pizza with the base made from mince. I don't eat meat so I can't say I would eat it but it looked alright. I made a good one last night. Actually pizza is one of the things that turned me vegetarian. I had a mushroom, olive and pesto pizza and I loved the shit out of it. So I figured I can make delicious food without meat without too much effort. Ironically I later found out most cheese isn't vegetarian so I normally make my own (although I'm a pretty lazy vegetarian). Anyway, this was awesome. I like using turkish pizza bases. They're super thick but they taste delicious and the edges come out nice and crispy.

At no point does this say they are remixes of one track. That they are four related tracks that they though they just decided to call remixes because they started from the same basis. Now... "basis" could mean "a track" but I don't think so, they're not speaking very abstractly in any other part of the interview so why would they suddenly say-one-thing-but-mean-another?
  14. I think the look of Prometheus fits in quite well with Alien and Aliens... it's not quite as grimey but it's at least dark and has a 70's sci fi design aesthetic, as mentioned before, quite Syd Mead-ish. It's a little bit more modern, but comparing it to Phantom Menace is going a bit over the top. Plus, the trailer looks completely different to the production stills, I trust the trailer more.
  15. give me a fucking break. Well... To me, the trailer and production stills gives me the impression that the protagonists will be flashy fancy highly financed space aristocrats, who arrogantly think they have control of the universe with their awesome technology, so when the shit hits the fan, it's a huge shock to them: 'But this can't be? I have money!' Although that's probably me reading into it too much. I hope so though. I think it suits this generation better, it'll scare the kids more, I think they'll relate to that kind of thing more. I also like the little "sorry" you hear in the beginning. To me this hints at mankind being the real big bads which always makes for interesting horror stories. If it really is about the end of the world, it's far more scary to think that we ended up destroying ourselves than some alien coming along and doing it. IMO.
  16. The last time I remember feeling this way about a trailer was for The Matrix. So even if I'm disappointed with the film, at least I can take comfort in the fact that they've made one of the greatest trailers ever.
