  2. Today's work, inspired by the rhythmic composition style of bjarni gunnarson https://archive.org/details/sch1-1
  3. I get the exact same thing in the same pocket. Good to know im not alone.
  4. Ive pretty much given up on finishing anything. I just continuously work on old and new recordings and let them mutate endlessly. Theres always new life to be found in old recordings and patches, and with digital technology the old and new are all instantly accessible on a perfectly flat plane of immanence. Every sound is created equal. Thats the last pretentious comment from me in this thread, i'll let you guys enjoy it now
  5. This is one of the many reasons why i love having a gearless setup. When i want to experiment with something, i just open up my laptop and everything is ready within seconds.
  6. Yeah and i told him that i could probably do it as long as i can borrow some hardware. I could really use some external motivation to make something really cool, instead of just uploading shit to my bandcamp that nobody listens to.
  7. Someone offered to get me in on an 8-channel sound installation. I have the ability to make a composition for eight channels, but i also dont have the hardware to hear what it actually sounds like. I gave him a strong maybe.
  8. Maybe that's because not much could be done with them in 1971
  9. Couldnt you say exactly the same thing about chamber music? I think these people are just threatened by new technology personally. Theyre like the people who shit on bitcoin just because they didnt buy it when they had the chance.
  10. I happen to be a part of a very small global demographic, and it's one that I happily align myself with: people who actually like computer music. I've been looking at more releases in this school of music lately and I came to the realization of just how small this community is. It seems that the only people who really know what computer music is are the ones who learned about it from the actual musicians themselves — at conservatories that specialize in computer music. Artists like John Wall and Bjarni Gunnarson are very respected in these institutions, and yet nobody knows their names outside of them. Even Curtis Roads, who makes a living publishing books about the genre, is almost entirely unknown even within electronic music circles. My question is this: if computer music appears to be so irrelevant in mainstream culture, how is it that entire institutions exist just to teach it to people? Why are students deciding to spend their college education learning about this microgenre? And why are the musicians putting such immense amounts of labor into their works without any apparent concern for whether they actually get heard? If any of you here are involved in the computer music community, could you please enlighten an amateur enthusiast?

  12. Holy shit im loving the dense layers on moderechedechred. I was expecting an acid techno track and got a whole ass experience. I like the multi-movement structure. Keep it up. The slight reverb on the drums is also a nice touch on that one. It makes the whole track sound damp and otherworldly.
  13. I have to admit that im not a fan of those kinds of ravey drums but the breaks are groovey and the ending was unexpectedly mellow. Interesting dynamic composition.

  15. Improved version https://voca.ro/1jigP8NLwJPr
  16. https://vocaroo.com/18kFxcTaHJ4H Soundcloud limited me ?
  17. Lately ive been just sampling acoustic stuff and processing it until it sounds unrecognizable, which im really into, but im also searching for more escape routes for creative flows to take flight. Thanks for all the leads.
  18. I was referring to the low frequency sawtooth sounding shit in the first track, it's kinda quiet but it adds some rumbly crackly textures, like vinyl crackles Does max for cats require max for live or can it be used in the basic version of ableton live?
  19. What kind of found sound? All of the sounds in the track were sampled from classical double bass recordings.
  20. I guess i could but it would be easier just to edit the recordings in a daw to fancy it up into a finished track
  21. Something else id like to do is add some more dynamics to the track, but i dont think i could do that without post-production. My max patch i used for this doesnt really allow enough control over song structure.
  22. Thanks for the input. There actually isnt a single tempo in this track since it uses euclidean rhythms but when i initially composed it, that center sound was at 100bpm. The finished version that I posted is at 0.5hz, so if you wanna do the math you can feel free to figure out the rest. As for the panning, that is something i should tweak. Thanks for reminding me. Ive been doing a lot of very wide stereo shit over the past year, as is evidenced on my latest album.
  23. Ill comment on others in a bit, tell me what you fellas think of this technique
