Baha, that's awesome. I met (read: ambushed) Tom in Seattle when he played there in 2004. I had just stuck like three pieces of Bubblicious in my mouth, so I could barely speak. I told him to have a good show, and he said, "Well, there's quite a lot of random elements..." Good times.

If we're going to waste threads on every two-bit dupe that pops up, how are we ever going to have time to speculate about whether or not Syro is the swan song of a terminal RDJ in the late stages of remotely-induced brain cancer? Wake the fuck up, people. It's later than you think.

Only slightly tired? Allow me to expound. JK. I don't see why the mastering of an album should be a taboo subject, though. Of all of the aspects of a recording, signal quality (in terms of spectrum, dynamic range, etc.) is among the least subjective and most easily compared. Don't make me produce an "Inconvenient Truth"-esque hockey stick graph of RMS loudness from ABB to Syro. Because I'll fucking do it.

We need a kickstarter to get Rich/Warp to release the pre-master WAVs. I've noticed I really prefer listening to this album on headphones. It just doesn't sound as good on my speakers, which are somewhat decent. Maybe there's a lot of subtle phase shit that glues it together. Maybe the album was produced and mixed mostly on headphones, more so than earlier works? I dunno. The waveforms don't lie, though. They do not lie.

I've blasted Rushup Edge a few times since the release. Still sounds pretty dope to me. It has an aesthetic purity/focus that's rather remarkable. Dat Drukqs, though. Still the pinnacle of recorded music, in my opinion. Glad to see that it's more Dark Side of the Moon than The Wall, if you catch my drift.

I started listening on shuffle pretty early on. When I get the urge to cue up a particular track (which is not infrequently), it's generally something from the second half. All the tracks are great, but the second half is definitely my fix. I've also gotten a lot of satisfaction from folding Syro into the typical ADDJ rotation. Heightened enjoyment and appreciation all around. Syro has magnified my love for Drukqs, making me seriously rethink the feasibility of polyamorous relationships. If it feels good, do it.

There are a couple sampled breaks on Syro, certainly. But no Amen sticks out to my ears. Don't mean to be pedantic, and perhaps I'm wrong... I just want to help the community grow.

To be clear, the quote was from one of their correspondents. Wouldn't be surprised if it illicits one of Kai's signature asides, though.

Heard a preview for Marketplace on the radio this morning that had something along the lines of "...a record sold on eBay recently for $36,000, and it's not even that uncommon" (emphasis added). You know you've made it when Kai Ryssdal is talking about your shit.
