Though I'm probably going to go wild digging through all the stuff that people mention in their lists, like I just found out about this very peculiar mix of synthy arabic popular music and jazz, so psyched for all the coming discoveries like this one

[Sunken Foal - Reveal In Finder]

Sunken Foal returns for his 9th studio album but first on FES with Reveal in Finder. There’s a certain vintage aesthetic to much of what’s going on here. Pianos and stringed instruments meet bubbling 808 percussion sounds, bass guitar and fizzy sample work. Talk boxes and vocoders play a role, while 'Siel Orchestra' glints and chunky 'Moog' squelches adorn the rest.

Using algorithmic sequencing methods to investigate the structural forms of various styles of rhythm, tone and melody, then sculpting the results into a kind of mechanical psychedelic studio-pop, Dunk delivers as always with this latest album as probably his best yet. Sometimes containing glorious slow pads, but sometimes funk that makes the listener's shoulders and hips move in opposite directions, and yet at times, reveals its fair share of unsettling dark corners. The proceeds for the first month of the release of Reveal in Finder will go to Médecins Sans Frontières.
