Haven't we learned that anticipating a release too hard makes it not happen?
  2. I've often thought if I had to describe his more intense stuff to someone unfamiliar that I'd call it "insane computer jazz, in the best way"
  3. Lol you resurrected the thread after 5 years....after resurrecting it in 2008 from 2007. You really keep the flame for this track and thread. AFX blessings be upon ye. Also fuck yeah the track.

Ahh, that's what we're missing, we need to wait for the 4th day in Decembruary 2021
  5. Big same bro. Used to play the leak a lot when I was a teen, mowing the lawn...listening takes me back, lol. I found a youchube playlist of the original leaks- This track f'kin bangs- This turned into "Hydrodynamic" on the official release and it just doesn't hit the same way for me. It seems like a lot of the tracks that made it from the leak to the final got a spacier treatment, with longer intros and a sparser, more "digital sheen" sound, where the originals were louder and more to the point, which was endearing in a way.
  6. Amazing to hear a track from my teen years remixed by someone else I was listening to but considered part of a totally disparate world. Makes me question if life is a simulation, etc. The vocal treatment (especially "transpose......" getting pulled apart around 2:15) is very tasty, and the chugging/spacey mid-section accentuates a note that the original song hit for me, with a sense of being swept away by waves of something overwhelming. climaxing into some classic tom splashy-but-clipped kit sounds about 3/4 through. and Finally re-emerging with the original feel mostly intact, but from "behind bars" as I'd call it. It feels like Tom understands the song, which makes me happy in a way I didn't expect. Or maybe I'm just hearing what I want.
  7. Just now discovering the 22 minute live intro and hot daaamn, instant re-listen. If you've slept on this too, you need to listen. I'd kill to see an hour of him(/them?) doing it up like that. Nothing to really add, just appreciateposting
  8. He says in the comments this latest one ends that way because the tape runs out there lol
  9. This specific category on Newegg is what you'd want to be picking from- https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?N=100007627 600009017 600567584 601322313 601303737 601304476 4017 4018&Order=3
  10. Yes, the Welkin EP is the thing I've come back to the most by him in the last few years, it's cemented itself as one of my favs by him and modern "braindance" in general. I've played Humidex and Firmament in some of my small dj sets for my (less braindance-immersed) friends, they definitely get it.
  11. Hi that was me :) Thanks for your help finding my way back in to the venue! It was a pleasure to meet you. Yay, same here! Oh yea, you (understandably) needed a little re-orientation after all that lol. I considered leaving because of Friday obligations, saw the coat-check line, laughed and went straight back in. Was rewarded with some squarepusher, classic dnb-workout aphex (Cock/Ver10 mixed into Box Energy was nice), and general dope selection from Soundmurderer. I feel like everyone who likes to dance stuck around to work out some of that Big Rich Energy™ we had all just been given with no space to express it, after the packed house cleared out. Used to be I thought seeing afx once would be a feat, now it's been 2x and what I want is to see him with enough room to actually dance.
  12. Powerful show. Was great to hear a lot of what sounded like unheard/live(?) stuff plus a couple recognizable big tracks. That ambient opener stuff is beautiful, hope it comes out someday. "Brooklyn Track" sounded lush, was so torn between recording it and just taking it in. Overall heavier in the middle than I expected. But having my expectations twisted are part of what I went for. He looks like he was performing on a laptop with an old-school 4:3 screen, or was it some hardware thing? Also wonder what role his wife is taking in the performance. Shout out to Colin from MN who I met in the smoking section after the show (didn't get your handle), apparently I missed a bunch of you, should have tried to connect more.
  13. Event page on fb says 8-12, so there may be an opener, but I don't think rich is going on at 2am.
  14. Not a bad track, but it kinda wears on me how "wink-wink" it is towards afx's style. It directly references a bunch of sounds from Syro.
  15. MT1 1:53-4:30 has become my favorite part of this whole thing. That distorted heavy bit that hits at 1:53 The little perc detail that starts at 2:42 and repeats/varies for a while The twinkly bits that start at 3:56
  16. Vinyl and HQ files definitely opened this up more for me, as I had hoped. MT1 and 1st 44 are gorgeous journeys, I put them over T69 even though I have the fond memory of hearing it premiere live. Abundance is still not grabbing me as much, though I'm hearing more detail that I can appreciate. Maybe it will come to me with time. Pthex scratches the noisy acid itch nicely and definitely fits with the EP in its way, but understandable why it's a bonus track. MT1, 1st 44, T69, abundance / pthex My vinyl side 2 was noisy but I think it's due to all the dust I accidentally got on it when playing side 1 because I haven't cleaned my slipmat in ages...
  17. MT1 best track for me so far. I think 1st 44 and Abundance will need further digestion to really appreciate, and I think the smeared details from the 96k arent helping those tracks for me. I can imagine the full q is going to open that level of detail up and give more to grab onto in those ones.
  18. Caved and grabbed the 96k. Definitely some fresh parameters in here. Promising myself to only listen to the 96k on a bluetooth speaker, saving headphones and big system for the pristine digitals. I can tell there are some delicious details in there I don't want to spoil yet. I speculate this direction was spurred in part by his purchase of the RYTM.
  19. vid intro text basically says the track is called collapse because of the middle-section where the bass kicks in and it slows down lol pretty neat vid, comes straight out of the world I work in (3d rendering), most of it is animated displacement maps, very fun. oh and the track is wonderful.
  20. Yeah I'm watching the barely-produced live talking on green-screen show thing they have streaming right now, really hoping to see something in 13 minutes?
