  1. Elb1 is some mad analord vibes, I wonder when it was made, any ideas?
  2. Yeah, rhythmically that's my favourite from the album. I remember getting excited about that track before the album launch and having heard the ATP live recording. Although the ATP version seemed to have humming some dark synth lines over it
  3. keeps getting better with each listening
  4. re-buys and buys all the products Aphex Twin, AFX, Polygon Window, Caustic Window, etc. even derivatives, not just cassettes, vinyl records, VHS and DVD ... thank you, good idea.
  5. Jesus! I want to give Richard James my money, how do I give Richard my money?
  6. Vtnm2 reminds me a little of Radiator from SAW2, high in bpm's this one but similar none the less.
  7. the latest track Vtnm2 is a masterpiece, puts me in a SAW2 type trance, so much feeling.
  8. my cat vomited last night because he eats too much.
  9. I think a topic thread dedicated solely to thanking Richard d James is in order. This guy is great and super generous.
  10. man these tunes have such a good thing going. playground fun.
  11. Great thread! If it hasn't been listed yet : Julien Neto- Voy
  12. He's an idiot for saying shit like this. "If YOU can't hear the stuff missing from Syro, then you not only have shit in your ears, but you are devoid of any real emotion, and are running purely on the dullest of fanboy juice. " So check yourself before calling people childish. Seems like a fair thing to get defensive about, being told you have shit in your ears. That was in direct response to someone who made the insult first, and you know it. You insulting me for insulting someone is amusing. Anyway, back to it; for a forum devoted to Aphex, there is surprisingly little detailed review or opinion by people who like Syro. I will refrain from telling you all why I think that is, and will just sit here waiting for people to start explaining in emotive detail what they love about it. I look for the same thing you do in the music, I find pure emotional sincerity in tracks the most important thing, I don't worry too much about slick production or impressive techniques. But I think it's in there in Syro, . It's more easy going than previous releases, the emotional aspects are more tempered but certainly there, some places strong other places more muted. It's an album you can dance and bob too. Do you want dance music that has you flopped across the floor with crippling melancholy? Not all tracks have to scrape ones heart out. The guy has released loads of solitary mood music that one can go back to and enjoy, this is just something a little different and fun.
  13. Goodlord, what's in the water? let's hope his next release is some ambient to calm this angry lot down.
  14. I know this was meant to be his most accessible release to date, but I struggled to properly latch onto it from the get go. I had some tracks I really liked though. But, after nearly a week of listening to the album, I now love every single track. James was right about rewiring the brain. I normally listen to his work very closely because I enjoy subtle elements, but there are rhythms, moods and melodies in this album that I not only didn't pay much notice over the first few listens, but that I didn't even know were there at all in the first place! It's like my simple brain was on data overload and I could only process so many new things on my first few listenings. The emotion really is all in there to be found, album is a masterpiece.
  15. The '4 bit 9d...' studio version on the album seems to be a very different mix to what I have heard on live recordings of the track, would love to hear that live mix version released one day as well. 'XMAS..'' is such a compositional masterpiece, I'm just going to listen to that track for a week before listening to the rest again. Also, the Bleep Pdf link that leads to an error page is rather odd, hope they sort that. Thanks for the discussion thread errybaaady! . and in the off chance that RDJ reads this thread ...THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU so much you clever sausage!
  16. it reminds me a bit of hangable autobulb, must be the rhythmic quality.
  17. IMO a bit of squarepusher and Wagon Christ influence in this album, unusual as his stuff normally tends have a very personal sound.
  18. Where's your girlfriend is a very good track but I have never really been able to sink my teeth into it properly either. Besides the clear masterpieces like Phonatacid and co', I found Halibut acid (original mix bonus track) and flutternozzle are recent favourites that I didn't pay much attention too previously but that blow me away now.
  19. been listening to the bodmin 1-3 tracks of late, melodic. It's really really silly that everyone has been talking about Syro like it's RDJ has been living under a rock and like it's his first release in 13 years. Releases like the Analords are the bizz.
  20. yeah those foldings are really great! have you tried it with transparent acetate that has an image printed on it? could be quite something.
  21. Carbon Based Lifeform.

  22. a chalk and ink drawing made while listening to some analord bonus tracks and SAWii
