  1. Still think this is the best of his recent material by quite a bit (syro and after). The middle part of Abundance still gives me the shivers and the rest of the tracks are incredibly solid. Nice bonus that it's also loaded with sub-bass and very clear sounding production.
  2. Checked the ol' soundcloud and he recently mentioned Keith Flint: Yeah i met him only once and was shocked just how sweet the dude was. We were playing in the same place down under and he checked up on me to make sure everything was good, super lovely guy, very genuine, hope your having fun in the other place Keith! he also commented on a track calling it 'dope'.. which it definitely is. Woo
  3. What I would do for a full soundboard recording of this... His new tracks are sounding damn amazing. They have more of a groove than anything on Syro. I'm really liking he isn't changing the tracks drastically every 8 bars like Syro. Tracks to get lost in for sure :) And mother fuck what an opening.
  4. Moments like the mid-section of abundance are what what made me the obsessed fan I am of the Phex. Love all kinds of his styles but the muted yet catchy bitter sweet melody is too good. On first listen I almost didn't notice it's brilliance (96k rip, low volume).
  5. Somewhere in this thread someone mentioned how horrendous the cover art is... I have to agree. Anyone up for making a thread to submit alternate cover art? I could imagine a cover more like this style: https://www.discogs.com/Africa-HiTech-93-Million-Miles/release/2871874 Of course with the aphex symbol.. and a dash a Gary Indiana vibes... somehow. (Not sure how to visually accomplish this but if someone found a way that would be cool)
  6. I’d say 90% of us weak folk don’t regret it at all. Sounds awesome and listening to this improved an otherwise blah week for me.. so there is that. I ordered the vinyl straight after my first listen.
  7. lol. I've been imbibing quite a bit with this EP. (rarely felt inspired to take that "journey" with his most recent stuff) Just another reason I love this.
  8. did you hear his set at day for night? I was there and I'm aware the 'Houston Track' is this track, though I never listened to the bootleg much. In the past I have just rinsed these prerelease singles and they just end up sticking out in an uncomfortable way for me when I get around to hearing them in context of the full LP/EP. Been trying to avoid that since. I couldn’t agree with you more. I had that mentality for about 2 hours after getting wind of the leak.. saw a couple glowing reports heree, caved.. then lived in a 96k world. You are stronger than I.
  9. As long as you have headphones or some way to feel that BASS, it’s well worth a peek. Won’t be getting every tiny detail but the tracks still sound mighty fine.
  10. abundance10edit... I'm convinced the frequencies have healing powers. If you have fallen ill or have a sick family member, this will restore their constitution.... I want to live in the 2nd half of this track. No headphones, this needs to breath in the wilds of Gary, Indiana. ^^ agree 100%, that moment around 2:43 really lifted me up, i never wanted it to end I pretty much live in that track. Best thing I’ve heard in ages. SAW 2 moments of pure inspiration and bliss with the bonus of awesome beats unlike he has ever made. Top of the heap Phex for me.
  11. Same. And I have no regrets listening to the 96k rip. I love it already and it's exciting to think this could sound even better. I've settled into this rip so much that when the EP comes out it will feel like its a remastered high def re-release of a classic.
  12. Subjecting a family to new autechre is hilarious to me. And hell yes to to this sounding massive. That is the word. So much of it sounds huge. Big room aphex. Finally a proper sub assault by the man.
  13. Street Fighter 5.. now that Sagat is back. also Super Metroid. I've never actually beat that game... Now is the time.
  14. same people who assemble a playlist consisting of Windowlicker, BoC's peacock tail and Autechre's VLetrmx21. "I listen to IDMZ" starter pack Those are some really good tracks. Nice starter pack! I'd throw some Squarepusher and Ziq, to complete the package. To super size the meal, I would ad a side of Luke Vibert and Venetian Snares.
  15. And that's what matters! Significantly less than usual though. When he said Syro was his way of retiring that style, I finally believe him. (also sorry for over posting, I've been super bored lately and I'm hyped up.)
  16. Maybe with the higher quality and giving it some time. I wish everyone could feel how I feel about it.. Because it's really doing it for me. 4 mins into 1rst 44 I thought "Oh thank god" and by the end of the EP I was slack jawed in a state of awe. I really didn't feel that way about any of his recent output so for me this his true "return" if you will.
  17. I concur.. very much so. I'm a little bit mystified as to why that was the single for this EP. Every other track is a fuck load more interesting.... Hoping more Weirdcore vids are made for more tracks.
  18. This is new stuff to me. Haven't listened to the other tracks yet but the track at 27min is really great, thanks for the tip! To me it sounds very Braindance, like Vulva or Ovuca. Maybe this album (available on Spotify btw) might help me remain master of my domain... Its mark pritchard, teenage friend of aphex twin, releasing an album on warp records..... Haha yeah I bet I'm the last person on this forum to hear this. I don't keep up with Warp releases in any way. This forum and Spotify's Discover Weekly playlist is basically the only place where I discover new music. That is one of the rare records I bought without hearing any of it or knowing a single thing about it before hand. The girl working there at the time knew I was a Warp fan and pretty much peer-pressured me into picking it up. Being the easily influenced/intimidated nerd that I am, I did. My horizons were expanded that day. edit: the record store is Sweat Records in Miami. It has a mural of Richard Twin painted on the store-front and for how small it was, had a fantastic collection of experimental stuff.
  19. I don't have a dog in this fight but this sounds like ambient techno. What makes 'trap' 'trap' to you exactly? Just that tempo and the beat made on a drum machine? That is a metric FUCK TON of music. It was intended as a joke, but I was referring to the step-multiplied hi hats specifically. There aren't any triplets in there I don't think, which is unfortunate. Would have made the comparison more obvious. Thank Christ you're kidding. 'Trap' is a hell of a lot more than just that beat made on an 808. (love the genre or hate it)
